Battered and bruised
Just one day left
yet each bruise
feels deeper
than the last
and the spirit
is in tatters
of rags
edges blackened
by the scorch
of gruelling
demands for
more
than there is left
to give.

I will kiss all those aches and bruises, every last one, my heart. Just hold on one more day, baby. One more day…You’ve got this, man. You can do this.
I know you’re tired, beyond exhausted and ready to STOP, but you’ve got just one more day and you’ll be finished..complete and you can be damn PROUD of all you’ve accomplished in the last six weeks.
