Morning light
washes
pale blue
over the world
as the sun crests
and the sunrise
fades away
and as sky
buildings
and the world
blend together
only the thin
yellow line
remains
cheerfully untouched
Butterflies
flutter
within my core
as your gaze
moves to rest
on me
and stays
and the surrender
within
awakens
to greet you
like the sun
greets the day
with warmth
and aglow
with eagerness
Take some time
to pause with me
and linger
at the water’s edge
watching
as clouds drift by
gilded with
silvery light
of the winter sun
as they
make shapes
for us to pick out
like a child
making faces
in a mirror
The wind
pushes flakes
to fly by
as if we sit
in a moving car
instead of
at the kitchen nook
drinking tea
while we watch
the world
turn white
inch by inch
and imagine
we can hear
the soft patter
of snowflakes
as they land
The cat
tramples
across my face
to wake me up
at half past 4
and the soft glow
that has
taken over
night’s darkness
from behind
the blinds
promises
a sight
worth getting
out of bed
to go look
He sits at the door
and watches
the entrance
a crooked grin
on his lips
as people
come and go
his hat tipped
just so
as each person
passes
and when
we nod hello
but in truth…
I just wanna
touch him.
