Breathless
sweaty
muscles ache
and burn
as the flush
of ascention
heats the flesh
and the water
looks so
inviting
Don’t let
the beauty
fool you tho…
it’s cold.
Slompy, sticky
wet and Mooshy
hard soles trek
through sucking gunk
that clings and tugs
with every step
a thief
the muck
tie laces tight
or cold and wet
will come and nip
protected tips
of warm dry toes
The world sighs
as light blooms
bright and golden
from western skies
as the sun
gasps
its last goodbyes
before darkness
blankets the world
and all
slips into silence.
I had to pull over to take a picture of the sun about to set as I was on my way home.
Tendrils
of golden light
curl gentle
and tenacious
around wrists
to tangle fingers
as warmth soaks
beneath skin
even
through distance
to find sticky grip
upon my heart
and soul
