Today’s meditation was skipped.
Today’s draw is the Queen of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, and intuition. Among other things, this often translates into themes to do with emotional support and advice from a trusted party that is easy to talk to.
What stood out to me in the imagery of this particular deck’s card today is the fact that I own that candy dish. As in… the candy dish that this particular image was drawn off of. It’s made of red carnival glass and belonged to an elderly friend that passed away a handful of years ago.
This card brought to mind that friend, and how even as stuck in her ways as she was, she always somehow had time to be still and quiet and -listen- to others. She may not always agree, and sometimes the things that came out of her mouth were beyond rude… but that rudeness was based off of her limited experiences in the world… not insensitivity.
Today’s card is a reminder that sometimes the ability to listen is the absolute best gift you can give to others, and often far superior to any advice you might be able to offer.

Question: What commitments can I make to support my journey towards self-love?
Blackthorn – The power to endure instead of buckling under the weight involved with times of struggle and uncertainty.
This is both a strength you possess as well as something you need to commit to and have confidence in as you move forward in your journey. Knowing you possess this strength provides a steady foundation for you to stand your ground on.
Primrose – Your ability to accept your vulnerabilities and not allow them to hold you back from self exploration is another important commitment towards your self-love journey. Don’t shirk away from that vulnerability but allow it to be a strength and something worth exploring instead.
Honeysuckle – Staying in touch with that ever present spark of creativity that influences all parts of your life. It helps keep things fun and fresh, and allows you to feel a sense of pride that you don’t feel the least bit ashamed about.

Philosophical Question: Is personal growth required to live a good life?
Reading Summary: Burnout (Ten of Wands), pessimism (Five of Cups), and constant forward motion (Eight of Wands) are all present in these cards, but there is no joy present in within them at all. These cards are a reminder of what your life was like before you chose to begin a journey of growth and emotional exploration within yourself.
Take Away: How do you define “a good life”? I wouldn’t consider it a good life without joy… but perhaps there are those out there that do. I think this question is too subjective to be answered easily, but for me… yes. Personal growth is required, for it is only after I dealt with the qualities in myself outlined in these cards that I truly began enjoying life instead of just living it.

I had a really good, deep nap today on Ms B’s couch. It was glorious and needed.
