/ Twist the Leaf

Weather cools
and clouds roll in
as long summer
finally breaks
and blue skies
are concealed
the air clearing
of wildfire smoke
as raindrops fall
and the world
is cleansed
of the cloying
touch
of summer’s
tenuous grip
