Weekly Creativity Prompt – How I Lost My Voice

“Blurring the Lines” Creativity Prompt: “Choose a card to represent a real life experience that happened to you last year (any type of experience counts). Then, randomly draw two more cards, and use them to veer fact off into fiction and expand on your experience with a fictional extension, ending, or additional fictional details.

Lovely Om TarotTen of Swords – A mighty crash as door frame and lock shatter.  A stranger within my home. A battle waged with ice pick against blade. Pain excruciating, and yet nothing at all, and in the end, the blade won. And then the pain went away and there was only peace, and silence, and stillness.

Six of Swords – Then came a stirring. A pull upon my soul. A glowing thread of comfort and need that drew me from that peaceful place. I followed the thread, seeking to sooth the ache of need felt as it drew me to its end. Bringing me forward through time and space to reunite with that familiar piece of me given to another… and more.

Two of Cups atop Queen of Cups – It lead me to my beloved, who grieved with all his heart.  And I knew that I couldn’t go back, and I couldn’t go forward either. I chose to stay here with him. To wait. To whisper comforting and loving words to him in his dreams and sit on his shoulder or tuck in just behind his ear, day in and day out, until he could eventually join me.

Adaptation Helps

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Crystal Visions TarotToday’s draw is the Eight of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of moving on in the face of disappointment, abandonment, giving up out of frustration, and walking away.

In the imagery of this card, the figure does not appear to be walking, but she stands, and she considers it. Leaving the water sounds good, and the light of the horizon and the moon’s glow holds all the appeal. But, she stands as if to consider her options before she steps forward.

This is a suggestion to have a backup plan to fall back on. Look at the path ahead and research other options… just in case.  You don’t have to abandon where you’re going as you leave behind what you no longer want… but make sure you’re staying open to all the ways you might be able to get there.

The shelves I want came in stock today… for three minutes. And then we’re sold out again. Just that fast. Today’s card is just saying that “there’s more than one way to skin a cat” when moving through my transition to my new home organization.

Questions for February 7th and 8th

Crystal Visions TarotWhat is a hidden talent you possess that needs encouragement right now?

Seven of Swords and Two of Wands – You are strategically inclined to plot and plan in order to find the best path forward in the direction you want to go. Whether this is about the changes you’re doing in your home this spring and summer, or setbacks in your business, you don’t give yourself enough credit for this talent. Obstacles don’t have to be obstacles to someone with this particular skill… instead of obstacles, they are only challenges to strategize around and overcome.

How can you best encourage this talent into growth?

Three of Pentacles, Three of Swords atop Two of Swords – Consult with others for suggestions and ideas, and don’t let disappointment be your deciding factor.

Daily Self Kindness

I’ve been icing and heating my right forearm and wrist all day.  It’s such a pain in the ass, but it’s been acting up and I’m hoping I can get it to calm down.

Frustration
turns to a desire
to say
fuck it
and walk away
but I look back
and pause
think again
reconsider
and realize
it’s not as bad
as it feels…
at least
not yet.

Winter Fog Lenormand Reading

Winter Fog Lenormand Reading - Simply Lenormand

What am I having trouble seeing clearly?

Tower and Bouquet – You are being snowed by someone of authority making kind gestures and pleasing efforts. Make sure you stay alert and aware, and don’t allow these moments of fleeting happiness (and ass kissing) skew you from your more accurate first impressions.

What might be fogging up my view?

Scythe and Rider – You’re too busy trying to hurt yourself to watch out for others might be looking to do the same or worse. Let go of the past and move forward instead, for those past experiences aren’t helping you to see more clearly in the present, or in seeing the best path forward.

How can I get clarity on the situation?

Lily and Child – Look at others that have already had experience with this person and gone through past situations with them. Learn from them by approaching them with curiosity and asking questions.

Rediscover Your Curiosity

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was another quiet session of breathing exercises and piriformis / forearm stretching… this time in the dark, since it was pre-dawn.  I’m thinking I need to get myself one of those sleep masks (or borrow L’s) for my meditation.  I relax more when there’s no light, and since I usually meditate during daylight hours, I think it might help me sink into it a bit more.

Victorian Romance TarotToday’s draw is the Page of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, logic, ambitions, and communication. This often translates into themes that have to do with learning new ways to communicate with others, beginning new educational pursuits, exploring new ideas, and seeking to sate one’s curiosity.

As I find myself sitting here just admiring this guy’s clothes (although, not the hat). He cuts quite a dashing figure, yeah?  Okay so… my questionable fashion sense aside…

The way that the figure in this card looks at the sword is not one of battle or determination.  It’s a gaze filled with interest and curiosity.  As if his gaze admires the curve of the blade, the shine of light upon it, and explores its weight and swing for the first time.  As if he likes what he sees.

This card’s message for today is to find the beauty and grace in the things you enjoy.  Explore them like the are new, and rediscover your enjoyment all over again.

Questions for February 7th

Victorian Romance TarotHow or where has fear stopped me from living my best life?

Two of Swords atop Seven of Swords – There have been moments of indecision that have allowed others to take advantage of you.  When you are unwilling or unable to make up your mind, your moments of indecisiveness allows for an opening for these experiences to happen.

What one step could I take today to begin to overcome this?

Knight of Cups and Ten of Cups Rx – Go after what you want in your heart instead of trying to force emotions out of the decision making process. It is when you try to ignore input from your emotions in the decision making process that you end up stalling out and struggling with indecisiveness.

Side Note: This is why you struggle with being decisive during the subdrop, because your emotions are running high and you’re trying to push their input out of the way and function on logic alone when making decisions.  It is also one of the reasons you are especially vulnerable during this time and it’s important to lean on Gideon, as when your emotions are stirred up in this manner  you are more vulnerable to manipulation from outside sources… something he is very good at protecting you from when you are unable to do so yourself.

I came home from the chiropractors and took a nap.  It’s an orders day, and this means that I’m probably going to be up all night getting orders done, but I really needed the sleep.

You refuse
to let me hide away
so I try to not let
the enthusiasm
wane
and instead
step out
of the shadows
just for a bit
and try my best
to not hide
for too long
when I have
something of value
to offer
