Don’t Leave Out the Good Stuff

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was a guided meditation from the Calm app.

This meditation’s topic discussed how, when we become bored with something in life such as our daily routines, making small changes can in turn ease our feelings of boredom and refresh how we see our routines.

Today’s draw is the Four of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of homecomings, joy, harmony, relaxation and comfort.

The Light Grey Tarot and How to Be a Wildflower DeckSoon, my sister and I will be going to visit our mother. This, in itself, is a challenging situation.  The thing is?  I wasn’t going to take the ferry on my way there this time, as it cost quite a bit.  Not taking the ferry means driving for two extra hours, but is much cheaper.

These cards are a reminder of how much pleasure I get out of riding the ferry, though, and that it’s also a self-care exercise as it’s far less stressful than driving the whole way. So today’s cards have essentially reminded me to take care of myself on my journey to see my mother, and to take part in small joys when I am able. They have convinced me that I am going to take the ferry after all.

There is a bigger message here that asks us to look at the choices we make.  Are we making thins harder on ourselves than they need to be? Is there a more joyful way to approach things that will allow you to find small enjoyment where otherwise there would be none? These cards are a reminder that life is to be enjoyed, and when these opportunities arise, we should take advantage of them instead of discarding them.

Listen and Queen of Wands

Let your inspiration flow and allow it to carry you forward, but make sure that you are listening closely to your inner self to make sure  you are not neglecting yourself along the way.

This is the only way to avoid burnout, and at the moment, that is the route you’re headed on, as you may hear what your body, mind, and emotions are saying, but you’re not following through on giving them what they need.

What is at the core of this?
Kindness and The Emperor

You feel that the only way to successfully make it through these times of stress and busyness is to be demanding of yourself and push yourself harder. What is lacking here is the kindness that you need to begin instilling into your life, even during the most stressful of times.

What can I do about this?
Persevere and Nine of Wands

Create better boundaries for yourself that respect and create space for that part of yourself that needs kindness, care, and understanding. You don’t have to approach the holiday rush with the attitude of just “buckle down and push through”.

Topic for November 13
: Do Spread #2

The Light Grey TarotFateFive of Wands – Don’t worry about it. You’ve got too much going on in the now to worry about something that’s going to happen whether you want to change it or not all the way down at the end of the line.

DestinyTen of Swords – Three separate life path readings done for you over your lifetime has made it clear that your life path is one of struggle, strife, and woe. This may not be changeable, but it gives you the opportunity to grow and learn from every experience that you endure, survive, and move on from.

ChanceFour of Pentacles– Take comfort in the fact that the only unchanging thing in life is change itself. You have the ability to root your feet in this knowledge and be prepared, instead of constantly taken by surprise.

Daily Self Kindness

I played with Gideon today as Enu, which helped a good deal in lightening the weight of the subdrop to something a bit more tolerable with the character’s sunny attitude and personality.

Gideon’s Challenge

The Aftermath

Take what is said
and let it bead up
and roll off
like a rain slicker
protecting your emotions
from being splattered
by poisoned rain
then later you can wallow
in the wet grass
and muddy soil
enriched and protected
instead of spat at
with arrows of
stinging chill

Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Blood Moon Tarot, Phenomena Oracle, Wonderer's Traveling Oracle Deck

EarthThe Emperor and Supernova – You need to approach the physical world this week with energy and authority. Bolster yourself to make sure that your spirit is indomitable, and that there is nothing that can stand in your way. Shine brightly.

AirFour of Dreams and Blizzard – If you close your eyes, you are going to miss what’s important this week. Keep your eyes open.  This does not mean you shouldn’t take care of yourself, only that you shouldn’t allow yourself to fall into depression or let the subdrop get the best of you so that you retreat and try to hide from it.

WaterQueen of Skins atop Ten of Honey, Wind – Inspire both yourself and those around you to work towards the stability you seek. This stability goes beyond financial well-being, and is about ensuring you are well physically and emotionally also.  You can allow the changes going on to set you off balance and tumble you around like a fallen leaf, or you can stand firm and use these changes to your advantage.

FireNine of Dreams and Haboob – Your fears appear massive, but they are insubstantial. Don’t forget that the worry, stress, and anxiety are not reality.  They are temporary, like sand in the wind, and will pass… no matter how huge and insurmountable that they appear at the moment.

WaningAbundance / Greed – Don’t get greedy.  We’ve already seen in previous readings that the holiday rush is going to get off to a slow start this year. Be grateful for the abundance that comes, and don’t be greedy for more.  Patience.

WaxingLong Slog / Finishing Up – Focus on the finish line instead of the toiling gauntlet you have to work through to get there.  Keeping your eye on the prize will make the six weeks ahead of you go far more smoothly than focusing on your misery would.

Take Away – Resilience and patience are both going to be very important this week.  Not just patience with the business, but patience with yourself as well.   Don’t allow your anxieties to overtake you this week, and make sure you are taking care of yourself instead of letting emotions and fears drag you off track and into the weeds.
