Weekly Creativity Prompt – The Dollhouse

Prompt Here:Pull (at least) three cards, and use them to tell us a story about what it would be like to live in a dollhouse.”

Black Cat Tarot - Majors Only Deck

“I love myself a good box!” The kitty says as the dollhouse is sat down in the little girls room. Black fur pacing back-and-forth to twine around human legs as she watches with interest as the two sides of the house split open to create a wealth of small boxes to explore. (The Devil)

As soon as the human leaves the room, up the kitty hops, onto the table to circle the big box with all the little boxes inside. Peering in the windows to see all that lies within, then circling around to looking through the cracked open side and she begins to sniff curiously. (The Hermit)

Soon, she’s exploring each room eagerly, and pushing the little bits of trinkets and furniture off to the side or knocking them out the fall to the floor out of her way, until there is a scattering of little furniture all over the floor and each of the rooms in the dollhouse is empty. (The Sun)

She then wiggles her way into one of the rooms, working her way in with twitches and tugs until she can scooch and scrunch and smoosh her way to fitting inside. If it fits she sits, after all, and she will make sure that she fits in each and every room. (The Magician)

This room first, though, she thinks. And once she’s in, she’s oh-so-very comfy, and so she decides to linger a while. Instead of moving on to continue exploring, maybe she’ll just take a nap and explore the other rooms later. (Temperance)

A Cushioned Landing

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Cirque du Tarot - The FoolToday’s draw is the Fool card, which is traditionally a representation of innocence, enthusiasm, newness and fresh starts, carefree outlooks, and spontaneity.

People often associate the Fool with being “foolish”, but sometimes it’s not about being foolish at all, but about seeing things from a new and fresh perspective and diving in to that perspective wholeheartedly.

Just as alcohol cushions a drunkard from injury in a fall, so too can optimistic enthusiasm cushion “The Fool” when he leaps before he looks.

Where in your life could use a bit more optimistic enthusiasm?  Where do you need to look up and not listen to the naysayers, but instead try anyway… just to see what happens? In what endeavor could that optimistic enthusiasm cushion your own stumbles and falls?  Today’s card is a reminder that sometimes when you pour on a bit of optimistic enthusiasm you can carry that sentiment right on past the failures and roadblocks, breezing by them without a care in the world.

Doing so will only create more wounds that will need to be healed further on in life, and hold you back from appreciating the boon that these changes hold for you.

Starlight shines
on silken petals
to shimmer bright
in daylight’s
glimmer
as petals flutter
and open wide
to welcome
raindrop’s kisses
and as sun sinks
and moon rises
the flowers
shine on

Change and Intent

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Light in the Mist Tarot - The Death CardToday’s draw is the Death card, which is traditionally a representation of organic transformations and gradual change.

The depiction of an altar in today’s card speaks to me of empowerment in the face of change. It says that we have the ability to steer or own path. This doesn’t mean avoiding change or halting it, but rather seizing it as an opportunity.  Spellwork, after all, is about intent.

The message in today’s card is to take care that you don’t fight so hard against change that you lose the opportunity to choose where you go from here.

Questions for September 11th thru 15th – TO HARVEST

Light in the Mist Tarot - Knight of Pentacles, Death, Three of Pentacles, Eight of Swords, JudgementWhat should I be reaping in my life?

Knight of Pentacles – You have the opportunity to rake in a greater sense of stability and security if you are patient enough to take things one step at a time and not rush the process.

What blessings should I be thankful for?

Death – Be thankful that not all changes in life come in hot and heavy and full of chaos. Some of them come in slow and give you time to adjust a little at a time.

What have I grown this year?

Three of Pentacles – Greater strength and support through community connections, rather than solitary effort. Collaborations with others that have developed into greater things through those connections made than what could be accomplished alone.

What is my biggest accomplishment?

Eight of Swords – Recognition that your perspective is not the only perspective, and opening you eyes to see far more than you would otherwise. By having removed the blindfold, you are able to see more through multiple perspectives rather than just your own. You are still taken by surprise sometimes by others perspectives, but you have spent your life learning how to be open to them and see their value… even when there are times you don’t agree.

What should I be preparing for next?

Judgement – Get in touch with your moral compass and make sure that you are on the same page. There are some judgment calls that you’re going to have to be making soon that could change the course of your path. In making sure that you are in close contact with your moral compass and listening closely to what it has to say, you’ll be in a better place to make these decisions wisely.

The soul whispers
it’s wounds
like a raw ache
as cracks
turn into chasms
as confidence
dwindles
like starving weeds
on too-dry clay
and as the soul
cracks open wider
and fissures splinter
through the heart
he whispers still…
I love you
