🌑 New Moon in Aquarius – January 2022

On Monday is the new moon, and like all new moons and full moons, I did a spread aligned to the moon’s current themes as a part of my recognition of the moon’s cycle and influences upon us. Today’s spread is about the medicine within, and brought to you by Ethony‘s Tarot by the Moon series.

New Moon in Aquarius Reading - The Citadel Deck

How can I detach from any lingering issues or energies from the past?

The Hunter – Remember that what is going to work for others is not necessarily going to work for you, and that’s okay.  You are unique, and that’s okay.  Give yourself permission to be different and don’t worry all that much (or at all) about the judgements of others, either from your past or in your present.

How can I be more of a spiritual rebel?

The Sailor – Make sure as you shift perspective you are seeking healthy choices moving forward. You seek ways to connect with Amalthea. Look for options that both satiate and inspire. Allow yourself to explore options and find what fits and feels right.

How can I be more impactful with my vision?

The Walker and The Champion – The project you are working on in your home is heavy with change.  Look forward and let your enthusiasm shine for the transition to come.  Make sure that you finish the job, though.  Don’t pause half way through and end up distracted, or it will all fall apart like a house of cards.

Where in my life can I have more fun?

The Poet and The Forgotten – Be yourself.  This is an odd response, as you are so very often yourself on so many levels, and yet these cards resoundingly speak of being yourself.  Set aside masks and fear of rejection or being hurt, and be yourself.  Those that are worth keeping in your social circle crave the true you and will not reject you for loosening up and letting your inner self free.

What can I do to support my visions and goals?

The Summoner – Own your mistakes and learn from them. Connect with others to garner their help, but remember that in doing so you also need to learn to better communicate and associate with them.  They aren’t tools, they’re people.  Treat them as such.  (Bake a raspberry cake for the neighbor to say thank you.)

Learning From the Past

Today’s meditation was skipped.

The Fox's Wedding TarotToday’s draw is the Page of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s intelligence, education, thoughts, logic, and communication.

The Page of Swords is about learning, and in this card the figure faces to the left… to the past. Here we see that we learn lessons through our past actions and our mistakes. Not all lessons in life are taught in the classroom, and this card encourages us to look into our past and learn from it so that our experiences don’t go to waste.

Today’s message is a reminder that no mistake is ever wasted, no failure ever utterly complete, as long as we are learning something from it of value that we can take forward with us. Remember that we look into the past not to get lost in it, but to seek healthy nuggets of wisdom that we can carry into our present and future.

The Fox's Wedding TarotWhat do you feel you deserve?

Queen of Wands and Four of Coins – To earn stability through experience. You believe that when you go after your dreams and put in the time building upon your passions, that it should create a sense of stability both financially and in the business.

What do you actually deserve?

Knight of Swords and Wheel of Fortune – The rewards and failures that come with going after what you want. You don’t get extra consideration from the Fates for putting in extra time and effort. Life is not meant to be predictable.

What do you need to focus on for self-care during this new moon?

The Priestess and Page of Swords – The secrets you hold need a new form of expression.

This is about my new dip into deity work with Amalthea. I have been struggling a bit in finding my “groove” in this area. I have not done deity work since before I lost my voice, and it turns out that I depended on my voice quite a bit back in the days when I was working with Faunus and Diana.

There’s an indication here in these cards that I already know the answer to this problem, and that it lies in my past as much as in my present. These cards indicate that I need only to look into my past to find the clues and ideas needed to move forward.

New moon guidance from the Minoan goat goddess Amalthea.

Queen of Swords and Two of Coins – Accomplishment will come in the form of finding balance.

I got out of bed and took a shower.  I know this sounds like just a little thing, but it was… really hard to get out of bed this morning.  I just wanted to hug the pillow and stare out the window and veg out.  I didn’t want to shower either.  I made myself do both anyway.

Spirituality vs Going Through the Motions

Today’s meditation was skipped, although I did take a few minutes to pause and do my piriformis stretches.  I suppose it could be considered meditation, but it didn’t really feel like it.

Le Psycho-Tarot (aka Tarot Psychologique)Today’s draw is the Temperance card, which is traditionally a representation of moderation, spirituality, and our connection with the world around us and the spiritual world beyond us.

The imagery in this card speaks of a need for caution when one leans into organized religion, and the need to connect to our spirituality outside of that rigidly walled box.

Sermons are empty if there is no spiritual connection. Spellwork is empty without a spiritual connection. Prayer is empty without any spiritual connection.  It is important to remember why you believe what you believe and to nourish and grow that connection you have with those beliefs.   That is what today’s card is about.  It’s a reminder to help your spirituality flourish instead of discounting it as something “other” and apart.  It is a part of you, and it is threaded throughout your being and your existence.

Question for January 26th
: What can I do that can make a big (positive) difference for me this year?

Tailors Storytelling Game CardsReading Summary: Take a pause (Lost in Thought) to consult with your guides and intuition (Guide) in order to suss out the liars and lies (Successfully Lie) that could be destructive in your life (Destruction).

Take Away: Some people can take others at face value, and not seek the true person that hides behind the mask.  You are not one of these people.  Don’t try to be.

The information you seek from others as you get to know them is important, and so too is your inner “lie detector” (whether this is your spirit guides, your intuition, or possibly both).  Make sure you are listening to what it has to say and the warnings it has to offer.

Question for January 27th
: What is a negative thing in your life that you don’t need to stress over?

Le Psycho-Tarot (aka Tarot Psychologique)You have been seeking emotional growth (Page of Cups) for quite some time, leaning into it and seeking out others to help guide you in this (Queen of Wands).  There have been times during this process that this growth gets in the way of your work (Ten of Cups Rx).  At these times, you’ve freaked out, and thus stalled out on your growth as you worry about your work and your business (Eight of Pentacles).

This isn’t something you have to worry about.  You can do both.  When your emotional growth gets in the way of work, it’s important to remember that work will still be there even if you need to step away for a moment to deal with whatever else is going on.

Let's Get Real Tarot Reading - The Crooked Cat Tarot

What are you ignoring?

Five of Cups and Strength – Pessimism does not give you strength, optimism does. Pessimism will break you down overtime, as it has done in the past. Leaning into optimism, on the other hand, will lift you up and make you stronger. The last couple of days you’ve been struggling with leaning into that optimistic mindset. Don’t ignore the creeping niggle of negativity. It’s not going to go away just because you pretend it’s not there.

Why are you hiding from this truth?

Four of Cups and Four of Swords – You find stability and comfort and what is familiar. That pessimism feels like a safe and comfortable resting place, even as it’s unhealthy and hurts you.

What resource have you not fully tapped into that could help in this area?

Eight of Swords and The Star – Open your eyes and see more clearly the potential a more hopeful and positive outlook could give you, instead of hiding behind your fear that being hopeful and positive will turn around on you and bite you in the ass.

How can you overcome this blockage?

Seven of Swords and Knight of Swords – Stay aware of what this pessimism and negativity are stealing from you, and proactive in your pursuit of something better.

Caring Is Sharing

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Arcanya TarotToday’s draw is the Nine of Rain (Cups), which is traditionally a representation of

I had to take a look at the guidebook for this deck to understand where they were going with the imagery in this card (which is typically the kind of imagery you’d find on the Lovers card or the Two of Cups). It turns out that it depicts moving on from personal, solitary contentment to sharing one’s emotions with others. (Like the transition from the Nine of Pentacles to the Ten depicts personal success transitioning to sharing the wealth.)

Today’s card is a reminder that emotions are meant to be shared.  Whether they’re the good kind or the bad ones, they’re meant to be shared. If you’re feeling troubled like the emotions on the figures faces suggest?  Share this with others.  If you’re feeling ebullient comforted or content?  Share those with others too.  Emotions are better when they’re not kept closed in and “close to the vest”, but instead shared with those around you.

Philosophical Question
: Would life lose meaning if we could live forever?

Arcanya TarotReading Summary: Discouragement (Four of Rain) would be sure to happen if you spent too much time on rest and reflection (Four of Wind). Instead, you would need to find a balance between stability and adventure (Two of Stones).

Take Away: So… no.  Not if you make sure not to let yourself get bored.  I have a feeling that finding that balance between the need for rest and a healthy dose of adventure would be very difficult, though.

That said? These cards indicate that it’s possible to not allow life to lose meaning.  It’s all in how you go about the living of it.

Snuggle time with Gideon.  My soul was just starting to feel a tiny bit tight with the whispers of a possible subdrop to come, but some Gideon time is easing it up and making it feel better.

Keep Looking Up

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Little Wisdoms TarotToday’s draw is the Star card, which is traditionally a representation of hope, spirituality, peace, rejuvenation, and connection with one’s spirituality to the world around them and their inner selves.

I don’t usually include guidebook quotes in my daily cards, but this is a brand new deck and I was curious about the moth on the card.  What I found was a beautiful explanation of the imagery that I wanted to share. “Rosy Maple Moths are known as a symbol of hope. Their bright colours renew a sense of peace and joy as well. The ametrine point in the back represents spiritual clarity while white peace lilies are symbolistic of renewal and rejuvenation.

Today’s card is a reminder to keep things fresh and stay optimistic.  I’ve been struggling a bit with negativity lately, and where negativity starts to slide in and whisper in my ear, the slippery slope of an MDE starts sneaking up to try and pull me in. I would very much like to try and avoid an episode this year.  The Star card and its rosy maple moth are a reminder to keep working at that optimism. Keep pushing for it and seeking a positive outlook. Keep trying.  Don’t stop.

Questions for January 24th and 25th

Little Wisdoms TarotHow can I best embrace my best unique, authentic self?

The Lovers and Eight of Wands Rx – Slow down enough to make better choices. You’re used to moving at full speed ahead and making decisions on the fly, but it’s important sometimes to take a slower approach and give yourself some time to think and weigh your options in order to truly find your best and healthiest option.

By embracing and being myself fully and truly, I allow myself to…

Seven of Cups and Strength – Make the choices that are right for you without becoming overwhelmed in the effort.  When you don’t know yourself, it’s harder to make the best choices you can.  Allowing yourself to fully accept and embrace your true self gives you the unique perspective of being able to better identify the best choices possible that are laid out before you.
