 : invisible string
Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Peter Rabbit Tarot - Strength card

Today’s draw is The Strength card, which is traditionally a representation of inner strength, persuasion usually through means of compassion, influence and/or manipulation, and courage.

I did a meditation once that provided guidance on posture during a meditation practice. It spoke of imagining a string pulled taut from the tip of the tailbone up along the spine and the nape to come out of the top of the head, and guided the listener to align themselves with the string.

The prompt “invisible string” immediately made me think of this advice when combined with the Strength card. I might sound like an old lady here, but posture is important. Not just during meditation, but how we carry ourselves is important.

It can be the difference between appearing to a predator as suitable prey or not. It can be the difference in getting the job that you’re going for or not. It can be the difference between being treated with respect by others or treated poorly.

I watched a movie the other day (which wasn’t particularly great) where this concept was really driven home. A man with an antique goes into a high end antique dealer’s place of business. He’s all hunched and his head is down. He makes a trade with the dealer and as he’s leaving, the dealer tells him “stand-up straight in my shop”. The young man’s posture changes and you see the difference in how others see him in that change. He goes from looking like a bum to looking like someone who belongs in a high end antique shop. He no longer looks like a victim, but instead like someone to be reckoned with.

This type of change doesn’t come from clothes or money. It doesn’t come from raising one’s station in life or the job. It comes from how you carry yourself and how you present yourself to others, even when you don’t realize others are looking.

The message in today’s Strength card and “invisible string” prompt is a reminder that posture is a hidden strength within us that helps guide the world around us to understand our place in life and how we are to be treated. It’s something worth working on.

Oracle Reading with The Earthcraft Oracle and Gallery In a Box Postcard Set

Reading Summary: Can you imagine a future where we are no longer able to recognize even the gentle list of creatures in nature, and scream for help when they appear? In the Anchor card, we get a peek at what that might be like.

Both the Death card and the Forest Tears card display darker colors that connect with the background of the Anchor card and that dystopian concept of a world where nature is so rare that it becomes terrifying.

There is a lightness to the Forest Tears card, though, that also speaks of transformation from the Death card into the Forest Tears, and then eventually to The Shift card.

In The Shift card, we see hope in the rainbow of colors that match those in the Anchor card’s rainbow.

All in all, this speaks of a journey of confusion to order… especially if we include the trees in the three bottom cards which are tangled in the Death card, then straight in the Forest Tears, and then showing growth in The Shift card.

Take Away: Just because something is unfamiliar and scary in the beginning of change and transitions doesn’t mean that it’s bad, nor bad for you. It takes time and struggle to adjust when a new reality begins to form from the ashes of an old one. It’s not just a question of immediate adaptation.

Stop forcing yourself to adjust and adapt immediately and keep going. Change takes time… it’s rarely ever immediate. Allow yourself the time and space to breathe into the new reality before you, and to feel it out and observe.

Only once you’re sorted, will you then begin to grow.

Tarot Reading with the Peter Rabbit Tarot and The Animal Children Oracle

Where am I already living in alignment with what I know?

Prosperity atop Admiration; Ace of Cups

Money isn’t everything.

Yes, money can make life easier, and if you manage to get just the right balance of it, it can make life less stressful. At the end of the day, though, it’s not what makes you happy… which is something that I already know.

This reminds me of a “friend” I once had when I was younger. In school, he was bound and determined that by the time he turned 20, he would make his first million… which he did. And that’s great! The problem was that he expected everyone else to think the same way he did and treat money as the end all God of everything as he did.

One day when I was down on my luck, he told me that I had to “get my priorities in order”. That I’d had so many opportunities to make a buck that I had passed up, and he didn’t understand why I had turned away from them.

When I explained that these opportunities went against my moral compass and what felt right to me, he laughed and thought it was a joke. He thought I was a joke.

He wasn’t particularly happy then, always seeking a new project, someone to swindle, and his next dollar… constantly driven and never satisfied. Sometimes I’ve wondered if he ever found happiness or if he still miserable and pushing for more.

I’m sure I’ll never know. I cut him out of my life and have no interest in looking him up at this point.

What currently allows me to feel safe enough to move forward?

Seven of Pentacles and Boy Significator

I am responsible and steadfast. Through the sense of responsibility I have created stability within my life and sustainability for the life I live.

That often means that frivolity passes me by because I’m too busy tending to my responsibilities and stability I’ve created. At the same time, it is the stability and the work that I have put into it over time that allows me to feel safe enough to keep going in areas where things feel unstable or uncertain.

Star Clusters Tarot - Queen of Wands

Today’s draw is the Queen of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s passion, drive, willpower, determination, values, and principles. This often translates into themes that have to do with being supportive of others projects and passions, or searching for inner truth within your own values and principles.

Curate a collection of your interests, passions, and desires; picking and choosing what it is that you add to your collection, rather than just dumping everything in without thought of the consequences.

Treat your interests like a museum.

When museums create their displays, they don’t put on display everything that they have in their possession. They pick and choose what they put out for the public to see.

In this same way, it’s important that we take care to pick and choose what interest we decide to pursue. These interests shape our lives, and become pieces of who we are. If we have too many of them on our plate at once, we never really get to fully explore any of them… and more often than not end up overwhelmed and burnt out.

That is the last lie that we tell ourselves before burnout, after all. The lie that we can just add one or two more things to our plate of responsibilities and interests and things to be done… and will still be able to handle it just fine.

No. We won’t.

The message in today’s Queen of Wands and “the last lie” prompt his a reminder that there’s only so much time in a day and only so much energy in a body. Pick and choose where you spend your energy instead of trying to spread yourself too thin, and as a result you will more greatly enjoy those interest and passions you put your energy into.

Check-in Prompt for April 11th : What is my energy level telling me today?

Cartomancy Reading with the Radio Cat Playing Cards Black Edition

Reading Summary: You want to stay home today (Four of Clubs), and you accept that just because you don’t like the consequences of the choices in front of you (Five of Diamonds) doesn’t mean that you don’t have choices (Seven of Hearts).

Take Away: Just because there’s no harmony (in the 7❤️) to be found within you concerning the options you have to choose from, doesn’t mean that you still don’t have choices you can make.

• You could stay home and relax in the nice stable security of a familiar space, wallowing in that stability and enjoy some stagnancy.

• You could head out and do what you need to do today, including the travel and whatever chores there are to be done up north.

If you do the first option, you upset someone you care about and give in to unhealthy habits. If you do the latter choice, you deal with being tired and in pain, but you get some stuff done that needs to be done.

Neither one sounds appealing, but you already know which one you’re going to choose.

Your energy level for today is telling you that there are no real satisfactory options available to you at this time, and you need to make your choice based on the healthiest choice available to you, with consequences considered.

Philosophical Questions for April 8th and 15th

Tarot Reading with the Star Clusters Tarot and The Essence of Three Oracle

What is Divinity?

Lemon, Four of Swords, Eucalyptus

Divinity is “God / The Universe” at rest and dreaming.

[Note the sleeping individual in the Four of Swords and the sleeping koala in the Eucalyptus card, combined with the “no one’s watching” from the Lemon card and the parrot seeing the world as “upright while upside down”. ]

These cards introduce the idea that our reality isn’t real. That instead of reality being a material, objective world, it is a subjective, cosmic dream occurring within a universal consciousness (God / The Universe). This is called the Dreaming God Theory.

Thus, and answering the question with this theory, the cards are saying that divinity is the dreaming “God / The Universe” that creates our reality within its dreamscape.

What existed before our universe was created?

Lemongrass, The Moon, Rosemary

These cards continue to expand upon the Dreaming God Theory from above by saying that before our universe was created there were many gods working to together (the “successful teamwork” and bee hive in the Lemongrass card); and that a debate over the creation of life (the weeping “goddess” toying with a baby in its carriage) ensued due to uncertainty that arose over repeated past efforts always leading to the same results (well trodden path” in the rosemary card combined with the sideways look from the owl on that card).

By this interpretation, it means that prior to our universe being created by a dreaming “God”, there were many such gods, all working together to create life; perhaps experimenting with how to create sustainable life.

Morgan-Greer Tarot - Page of Cups

Today’s draw is the Page of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, or intuition. This often translates into themes that have to do with emotional growth, second chances relationships, or exploring one’s creative pursuits.

I like to see myself as measured and logical, with a good dose of stability and moderation leading the way.

The fact of the matter is, though, that as I learn more and more about my emotions and gain more emotional intelligence… I’m discovering that there is a “second self” hiding inside that I’ve really tried not to acknowledge.

This “second self” is impulsive and emotional and often awkward as hell. They are reactive, and not at all logical.

This is where all the emotions of the past and present live, including the ones that I buried for decades.

By not having given this “second self” freedom and fresh air for so much of my life, now as I try and learn about my emotions it feels like everything is always out of control. That’s not necessarily true, but that’s how it feels.

The message in today’s Knight of Cups and “second self” prompt is that we are more than the face that we present to the world. We are more than just what we want to be, hope to be, or believe ourselves to be. There is a whole other “second self” inside us all that we try to ignore or bury.

In today’s message, the card and prompt combo shines a light on this part of ourselves that we try so hard to exclude from our day-to-day lives. This spotlight reminds us that this second self is there, it is also a part of who we are, and it needs acknowledgment and acceptance… no matter how chaotic and awkward that may feel. Finding a sense of wholeness and self-acceptance requires accepting even those parts of ourselves that we don’t really want to acknowledge.

Tarot Reading with the Ventum Arcanae The Air Tarot and The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Oracle

What holds lasting worth in my life, regardless of external validation?

The Empress and Raccoon – Your creative spark is always there and it’s one of the things that lights you up inside and nurture your creative spirit.

You don’t need other people to tell you the things that you make are pretty or nice or beautiful. It’s nice to hear these compliments, but what you get out of your creative process doesn’t require them. It just requires you to enjoy what you’re doing.

What in my current rhythm can support me long-term if I continue it?

Ten of Wands and Butterfly – You’ve been working a long time now on learning how to better stretch out and delegate your time and responsibility so that you don’t burn out as quickly or as often. As long as you don’t fall back into old habits of pushing yourself too hard for lofty unreachable expectations, these changes you’ve made will become the new norm.

The key is to not fall back into old habits, but embrace the change and transformation that you have created and continue to create in this area.

What currently brings a sense of settledness, even if nothing else changes?

The Lovers, Lizard, Unicorn – Your time with Gideon gives you a sense of security and “settledness” that you don’t find in other activities. Even when you are creating new stories together in newly developed worlds, there is a familiarity and a safety there that makes everything feel right, no matter what’s going on in your life.

This connection and unconditional love is always there to support you, and provides you with an escape from the world when you need it into a place between the two of you where anything is possible.

Ground Prompt for April 10th : What impulse deserves reflection before acting?

Tarot Reading with the Morgan-Greer Tarot

Reading Summary: When it comes to your creativity, you have a tendency to let your imagination run away with you (Page of Cups). This allows you to see all the amazing possibilities (The Lovers), but means you have a tendency to forget to look at the pitfalls (Eight of Swords).

Take Away: This is true for all of your creative endeavors, but especially true when it comes to your jewelry design pursuits. When you walk into a bead store or shop online for beads and findings, etc, you have a tendency to see the potential in everything that’s on offer, and you want to buy it all so that you can do all of the wonderful ideas that come to you when you see all of these wonderful possibilities.

Unfortunately, the truth is that 1) you don’t have enough money to buy all that stuff, and 2) you don’t have the time needed to make all that stuff.

In the enthusiasm of the moment, though, sometimes you can forget about these unpleasant inconveniences that your imagination does not want to acknowledge. During these times, it’s important. to not act impulsively, but instead take time to reflect and consider first.

Luna's Hello Kitty Tarot - The Devil card

Today’s draw is The Devil card, which is traditionally a representation of temptation, struggles with moderation, harmful excesses, addiction, and self-harm.

There are times when you can reliably predict that your addictions are going to try and step in to rock the boat.

For me, this is often during those times when things are going right or well, and also in the “calm after the storm” or an especially stressful and difficult time. That moment of calm has my addictions chomping at the bit with promise to provide comfort through familiarity.

Knowing when these times are for you can help in ensuring that you don’t fall victim to their temptations. Because you know ahead of time what is going to happen, you can then prepare for it in order to better resist its pull.

The message in today’s Devil card and “omen” prompt is an encouragement to “know thyself”. Look objectively at when your unhealthy habits and addictions rise to the surface, and allow yourself to acknowledge these patterns so that you can work at asserting a little more self-control during these times.

Affirmation : “My friendship’s uplift and inspire me.”

Prompt : Use the themes, symbolism, keywords, and/or artwork of the card you draw to help you describe what being “a good friend” means to you and all the ways your friendships inspire you.

Tarot Activity from The One Card a Day Journal by Maria Sofia Marmanides - Plusheen the Cat Tarot - The Fool

What feelings came up when I pulled this card?

Surprise.

Honestly, I always have a slight moment of surprise when The Fool comes to visit in my personal readings. I think because I spend so much time focused on life’s responsibilities that I sometimes forget that aspect the Fool offers exists (or can, if I let it).

What elements of the card’s meaning resonate with me and this prompt?

Continued from above, I struggle with instilling The Fool’s energy into my life. I plot and plan, I strategize then act. Impulsivity isn’t really a big part of how I run my life.

This is often where my friends fit in, as they often provide for me a spontaneity and pursuit of fun that I have a tendency to tamp down on in myself.

What in the artwork spoke to me?

My cat does this. Not so much while I’m wrapping gifts (at that time she just wants to walk on everything), but when unwrapping them. She loves to get tangled in the ribbons and wallow on the torn wrapping paper and crumpled tissue. It’s amusing to watch her and I even have a few pics of her doing it.

My prompt response and reflections.

There’s a reminder here in this card that it’s not just the humans that provide this spontaneity and pursuit of joy in my life, but that Miss Luna does as well. This is an aspect of having a pet that I hadn’t considered before.

The Classic Mountains and Seas Tarot - Page of Swords

Today’s draw is the Page of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, logic, ambitions, and communication. This often translates into themes that have to do with learning new ways to communicate with others, beginning new educational pursuits, exploring new ideas. and seeking to sate one’s curiosity.

In some ways, the Page of Swords is a card of recovery. The Ten of Swords such a painful an ending that when we reach the Page and pick ourselves up off the ground from the Ten, there is a touch of the phoenix in the progression between these two cards.

In the progression of the Swords suit, on the day after the Ten of Swords, we land upon the Page of Swords realizing that we don’t know everything after all and we have so much more still to learn.

The message in today’s Page of Swords and “the day after” prompt for today is a reminder that the endings we experience aren’t “the end”, no matter how painful they may be. In time, we move past them, and we take with us what we learned from the past to apply to our new efforts and endeavors. That doesn’t mean we know everything, it just means we’re better off this time around than we were on our first try.

Reading Summary: If you want to “make it rain” (two blood cards and rain) you’re going to need to make bold and innovative action (Action = Athame) that lead you in that direction (Lost Prophet’s Coffer). It’s not going to happen on its own.

Take Away: These cards are essentially saying that age old adage, “you have to spend money to make money”. And, in this case, “spending money” might mean the blood, sweat, and tears of your own effort.

Financially speaking, you can’t just sit back on your laurels and expect your finances to work themselves out on their own. You have to be involved and make good choices that have you actively working toward your goals.

Bring the money in, and be smart with what you do with it. Lack of forethought will only force you to work harder and expend more blood, sweat, and tears to get to where you want to be.

Hundred-Acre Arcana - The Devil card

Today’s draw is The Devil card, which is traditionally a representation of temptation, struggles with moderation, harmful excesses, addiction, and self-harm.

Look at that… the card even has a campfire.

The “oh shit” moment of falling into old habits or allowing oneself to fall into the grip of an addiction doesn’t just come upon us all of a sudden. There are warning signs that build up to that “oh shit” moment.

Whether or not we watch for and/or listen to those warning signs directly influences not just whether or not that “oh shit” moment arrives, but in what manner it does if it’s too late to stop it entirely.

The message in today’s Devil card and “smoke signals” prompt as a reminder that warning signs are not there to be ignored. When you ignore them, you give what’s building up permission to do what it will to you and your life. Today’s message encourages us to not ignore these warning signs and smoke signals when they appear, but take them to heart and be proactive in acting on them.

Take Away: Grief moves at its own pace, and no amount of nudging or manipulation can push it to do so any faster. It’s not -meant- to be convenient.

The grieving widow in your life needs you to hold space for her more than anything else you could provide. You don’t even have to take over the conversation for this to happen. Just listen as she tells her stories, even if you’ve heard them a million times before.

Reading Summary: You attract more bees (Four of Pentacles) with honey (Three of Cups) than vinegar (Knight of Wands Rx).

Take Away: You draw more good things into your life by taking life on through a lens of positive perspectives than you will by being negative all the time.

This includes positivity in the form of being considerate of yourself and considerate of others, instead of just trying to plow on through to the point of it being unhealthy.

Honestly, when you started the whole “instill more positivity and optimism into my life” endeavor, you really had no faith in it helping. Not with your outlook, not with your depression, and not with any of the aspects of your life that you felt were important to you.

You’ve come to discover, though, that this is not the case. The effort does make a difference. A difference that you sometimes barely notice, but others notice all the time. They then, in turn, enjoy being around you more often.
