What do I need to invest in this year?

Seven of Clubs – No matter the changes and challenges you face, your values and principles are unshakeable and will guide you through to the other side. Don’t worry so much that changes might draw you off course, as your stubborn persistence in what is true and right for you is part and parcel to who you are and cannot be taken away.

What am I ready to leave behind as the year changes?

Eight of Diamonds – You have overworked yourself to the point of exhaustion, and thrived through the most difficult part of your work year.  Now it is time to put away all that determined diligence, and have some rest and a bit of fun instead.

How can I welcome more harmony into my life this year?

Eight of Hearts – Giving up. In 2022 there were a few things you walked away from rather than confronting. Make sure not to repeat this mistake again in the year ahead. You are good at confrontation, so don’t let the potential for it to raise its head turn you away.

Jack of Hearts – Impulsivity, especially in relation to your emotions. Do not allow you emotions to force you to leap forward into situations where a pause would serve you better. Take a moment to feel your feelings… then act.  Don’t act during.

Two of Spades – Indecision. Do not stew in stagnation as you struggle with decisions that feel overwhelming. Sometimes any decision can be better than no decision made at all and being stuck in a mire of anxiety and confusion as a result.

What is preventing me from getting the best rest that I could during the longest nights of the year?

Three of Diamonds and Nine of Diamonds – You’re driving motivation to finish the project that you have started, and do the best that you can with them to make them a success right up to the end. This motivation is currently in overdrive and is preventing you from getting the best rest possible at this time.

What can I do to resolve those issues and rest better as a result?

Look forward to when you can spend your time with others instead of worrying about what’s left to do in the next couple of days. Focus on further plans beyond the holiday rush instead of allowing your focus to linger on what is coming to an end.

Eight of Diamonds atop Ten of Spades – You have spent years honing your skills and building your business, and now that business is a success. With that success comes the holiday rush, which is not just overwhelming, but absolutely exhausting as well. You need this time of year and how busy it is, just as most businesses do, to catch up on any lag your finances… and yet it beats you into the ground year after year.

How can I best work to ease the load and lessen my overwhelm?

Jack of Spades and Five of Hearts – Use your sense of innovation and exploration to fight against feelings of dissatisfaction and pessimism. When the world looks brighter, your heart is a bit lighter. That helps you handle the struggle and chaos just a bit better than you otherwise would.

What is the best way forward to take care of myself during this time of overwhelm?

Storytelling Cartomancy Activity – The Bard’s Dilemma

The prompt for this reading came from one of my Discord servers and is as follows: “Using a deck, let’s write a little short story using 3-5 cards to come up with it!”

Storytelling Cartomancy with the Charlie Brown Christmas Playing CardsBeing the writer for the school play made Andrew super happy and he was so excited as he put the last touches on the script and got it ready to turn in. (Nine of Hearts)

That happiness lasted right up until they wanted to change what he’d written, and began tinkering with the script (Six of Diamonds), something he hadn’t thought anyone would want to do!  He was crushed that they didn’t like it as-is and wanted to change everything. (Three of Diamonds)

So disappointed was Andrew, that he decided “SCREW IT!” and that he wasn’t going to do any more of them in the future. It was too hard… too much work… and ended in disappointment and despair. Especially when the whole production eventually fell apart and no one could agree on anything!  (Ten of Swords)

And yet?  Once the season was at an end and a new one began, he had spent some time away from his writing and realized that he really did enjoy it.  Having taken some time off to consider the situation, he felt renewed and ready to try again… perhaps with a bit better boundaries in place this time.
