Weekly Creativity Prompt – The Playlist

This is a fun repeat exercise that I’ve now used a few times and resurrect every few months!

Have you ever listened to a song and suddenly realized “This song is such a Tower/Emperor/Hanged Man song!”? This activity is based off of a love for music and how we associate music with the world around us.

Activity: Randomly draw five cards from your deck. For each card pick (or find) a song that you feel fits that card perfectly.

Morning Bonus Read – Monthly Key Spread

Pagan Lenormand - Monthly Key Spread

Key to Your Heart: What will Guide you to make decisions that are aligned with your heart and your truths this month?

Child – It’s important to focus on your new path, and moving forward.  Youthful exuberance and a focus on this new beginning is important.  Every day is a new day, and an opportunity to do better than the day before.

Anchor: What will ground you in the face of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, and existential dread in general?

Dog – Those that love you most.  Those people in your life that are with you during thick and thin are the direction that you need to reach in when things are feeling overwhelming or anxiety is riding you hard.  This month, you’ll find your center through your contact and connection with these people.

Star Wand: What accelerates your magic, creativity, and manifestation powers?

Fish – When you are open and willing to adapt to anything that comes your way, it opens you up to a more free-flowing energy that allows you to delve deeper into your creativity  and magic, both of which result in different methods of manifestation. Bend like a tree in the wind and you will stand stronger for longer, grow taller, and your roots will dig deeper.

Blessings from the Stars: The Universe has got your back – how will you be supported this month?

Book – You’re smart.  Use it.   You are capable of quickly absorbing all sorts of information and adapting it to your needs.  You gather knowledge like a library gathers books, and although you can’t always pull up exactly the right thing in your mind at the right time, the knowledge is there and tapped in other ways when needed, expanded upon quickly, and braided through with other knowledge to create what is needed at the time.

One Trick Up Your Sleeve: A life saving idea or inspiration for any unexpected challenge or difficult moments?

Stork – Again we see a prompt for adaptability, for the stork is all about change.  Small or large, being able to adapt to the world around you and the changes taking place will allow feelings of stagnancy to fall behind.  Don’t be afraid.

Emergence Pt 1: What is emerging within you / within your reality right now?

Birds – Social energy is strong this month. This is an echo of an earlier reading done over the past week that indicated my social connections will be very important in the month ahead in finding clarity and balance.

Emergence Pt 2: What are you expanding towards?

Scythe – The warning that was given in your transition reading for the end of the month still stands.  That closed minded person or situation still comes.  You will be required to make a sudden and decisive response, slicing through the deception and cutting free whatever hold there is upon you at that time.

Miracle Tarot and Nature & Soul Yoga Wisdom Cards

Here and Now, I Am Three of Pentacles, Camel (Fortitude) – I’m in a place at this time where I am coming to grasp just how much stronger I am when others are there to collaborate with me rather than doing it all on my own. This is not just about work but also about my personal life and my spirituality. I’m grateful for having introduced Gideon into my beliefs and practices and for his participation and input.

Leaving Behind The Star, Fish (Flexibility) – I’ve left behind a touch of my trust and my ability to be open and easy with the unfamiliar. My hope is still there but has been tarnished, my flexibility is still present but not as forgiving.

Focus Forward The Empress, Mountain (Transcendence) – It’s important to move into the month ahead with it sense of nurturing and a focus upon moving forward in your path and towards your spiritual goals. Don’t lose track of what is really important. Don’t forget to take care of yourself along the way.

Negative Influences The Moon, Dancer (Connection) – Uncertainty is a growth killer. Don’t let this recent incident keep you from reaching out to and connecting with others. Not everybody is a bad apple how to get you.

Positive Influences Queen of Wands, Crocodile (Adaptability) – Remember that you were highly adaptable and able to shift your path that will depending on what you want. You weren’t stuck in a rut and you have plenty of space to grow and move and change.

Relevant Shadows Ace of Cups, Scorpion (Rebirth) – You could’ve allowed yourself to be really hurt by this recent misstep in trust. Instead of lashing out or allowing negative emotions to take over, you restored balance through cleansing and renewal. This is still going to need a bit more work, but you’re on the right path.

Lift From The Past  Three of Swords, Cat (Intuition) – Again and again your intuition has guided you through times that could be harmful or disappointing or hurtful to you, and yet to follow your intuition you are able to bypass most or all of the pain in those situations. This is a reminder that you need to listen to your intuition and not ignore or set aside what it saying.

Future Event to Prevent or Overcome The Hanged Man Rx, Star (Inspiration) – Here again we see a warning about a closed-minded influence approaching. Their approach may come under the guise of what seems like a great idea. Make sure you’re paying attention and looking beneath the surface.

Approaching Opportunity Strength, Lizard (Dreams) – Trust in yourself and your dreams. Even as much strength as you’re aware of having, there is more in the bucket that you’re not aware of yet. You can use that strength to obtain the dreams that you desire if you trust yourself enough to actually reach for them instead of just dreaming about them.

Message from the Spirit World – When your mind is closed and you focus too deeply inward, you miss opportunities and lose the ability to adapt to the changes in the world around you.  In order to follow your dreams, it’s important to stay open and depend on your inner strength to protect you as you develop and grow through your inspiration.  Don’t close yourself off.

Message from the Subconscious – Similar message to what was just written above, but the goal is not following your inspiration but about making sure that you are taking care of yourself along your life’s path. Stay open to optimism and positivity.  Allow it in, and allow it to wash over you.  Allow others to help you in your journey and have faith that if you take care of yourself and stay on the path you’ve chosen, that things will work out.

Message from the Known World – Disappointment and confusion is a part of life and it’s okay to feel lost and off course now and then. At those times, you need to reach out to others and allow them to help guide you back, refresh your enthusiasm for your path and for life, and your intuition will reawaken as you find your balance once more.

DECKS USED:  MIRACLE TAROT AND NATURE & SOUL YOGA WISDOM CARDS

Morning Bonus Read – Major Events

Prompt: “Think back to 5 major events in your past. For each event, draw a card to represent what your past self from that time needs your present self to understand. Lay down that card, then go through your deck and select a card to indicate the message you would want to give your past self who was in the midst of that.

Dead On Paper's Arcana in WhiteEvent – Father’s Degradation

Summary – I spent the majority of my childhood hearing how (due to my preferences) I wasn’t good enough, how I was a disappointment and a source of shame for my family, and my father encouraging others in my extended family to dole out the same.

What the Past Self Needs To Say Four of Hearts – “It hurts, and I want to disregard what’s being said and leave it behind me, but I feel like it will always be there lingering in the background.”

What I Want To Say To ThemStrength – You are stronger and more sure of yourself, who you are and what you want, because of this.  Yes, the experience will carry forward with you into the future, but it will become a part of the building blocks that create the man you become.  A man that’s strong and agile, confident and compassionate.

Dead On Paper's Arcana in WhiteEvent – SemiTruck Accident and Recovery

Summary – Early in my 17th year, I was in a car accident where I was in the passenger seat of a car when it was t-boned by a semi-truck.  The impact damaged a large number of joints and bone structure on the right side of my body. I then went through multiple surgeries to repair/replace what was damaged, physiotherapy, and a stint at a pain clinic.

What the Past Self Needs To Say Eight of Spades – “Don’t forget me. Don’t forget how hard I worked to recover. Don’t turn a blind eye and undo all that I worked for.”

What I Want To Say To ThemThe Hanged Man – You taught me what I needed to move on. Your strength and knowledge gained during this time of pain and recovery helped me see the world differently. This doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about you, but that this experience is threaded through my life from now on.  It can’t be lost, or forgotten.

Dead On Paper's Arcana in WhiteEvent – Ex’s Attack

Summary – An ex friends-with-benefits that I broke up with due to his developing meth addiction stalked me and eventually broke into my home one evening to attack and sexually assault me.

What the Past Self Needs To Say Ten of Spades – “The most painful ending of all. It still hurts, even if you’ve moved on… my feet still bleed in the snow.”

What I Want To Say To ThemWheel of Fortune – You made the right choices for your health and happiness at the time. What happened was not predictable and is not your fault. He is in prison now, and you’ve moved on. This too will pass, it’s just going to take more time.

Dead On Paper's Arcana in WhiteEvent – Blood Moon Betrayal

Summary – The word “pissant” is hands down my least favorite word in the English language.  Essentially, Gideon and I had a group of friends who it was anonymously revealed to me really only wanted Gid and were making fun of me behind my back while plotting how to keep Gid and get me out of the picture.  These were people I liked and trusted and the betrayal damaged the optimism I had for human nature as a whole, ripping youthful naivety from me in one vicious eyeopening moment.

What the Past Self Needs To Say Five of Diamonds – “This still hurts. The experience feeds into those ‘less than’ feelings that rise up now and then.”

What I Want To Say To ThemThe Star – You are still healing and working on building up your faith in others. Just remember not everyone is the same.  There really are good people out there. Promise.

Dead On Paper's Arcana in WhiteEvent – Home Invasion

Summary – The ex friends-with-benefits mentions above convinced a “friend” of his to come pay me a visit. The fight involved ended up with me destroying his kidneys with an ice pick, permanently losing my voice when he tried to cut my throat, and having a near death experience on my kitchen floor.

What the Past Self Needs To Say Ace of Spades – “I see the world in a new light, one filled with danger and potential for violence.”

What I Want To Say To ThemThe Hierophant – I am using this experience as a lesson. It taught me to be safer and more aware of the world around me. I’ve consulted home defense and self defense experts, and I will continue to seek new knowledge and better ways to further the safety of myself and my home.

Morning Bonus Read – Soul Lessons

The Gentle Tarot - Soul Lesson Tarot Reading

Card to describe my next soul lesson.

Harvest of Stones – A stronger sense of stability and leadership in the areas of health and home. This isn’t always about others but has to do with how you feel on the inside, including how secure you feel, as well as how you treat your body and take ownership of your health.

How this lesson will manifest itself.

Nine of Thunder – Through stress, worry, and fear.  A tree does not gain strength without the challenges of the wind to test its mettle. It is through misfortune and struggle that we become stronger.  The more the wind blows, the deeper our roots go and the stronger we must become in order to continue to stand tall.

A way that I can absorb this lesson gracefully.

Six of Wands – Look to others for suggestions on the best path forward and allow them to lift you up and ease your mind.  This isn’t so much about seeking their approval, but allowing them to lift you up when you struggle and give you the assistance you need to keep going when your enthusiasm for the journey is flagging.

Why this lesson is in alignment with who I truly am.

Ten of Cups – It will help me to connect more emotionally with those I love, creating a greater sense of well-being.  True happiness goes beyond simply satisfaction, but requires sharing and community.  Fostering this happiness can help in finding a stronger sense of stability.

New opportunities that will arise from this lesson.

Four of Stones – More stability and better grounding. A more miserly outlook.  The opportunities here coincide with the lesson being learned.  It’s important to know when to hold tight to things, and when to let them go. Developing a slightly stronger urge to be a little more tight-fisted wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing when it comes to the financial aspects of life.

How can I follow my heart?

Flower of Wands – Do what makes you happy and help inspire others to do the same.

Weekly Creativity Prompt – Feeling Your Way

Prompt: “Draw a single random card from your favorite deck and share with us how the card makes you feel.”

Okay, so this isn’t perhaps my absolute most favorite deck, or even the most favorite deck I’m using this month.  But, it is one of the favorite decks I’m  using this month and I’ve really connected with it well and am enjoying it a great deal.

The Alchemist's Garden Tarot - Two of Cups - Rosa multiflora - Rose - ConnectionTwo of Cups – Rosa Multiflora (aka. Rose) – Connection

Throughout history the rose has been revered as a flower of love and the connection between people. Whether the color is red for passion, yellow for friendship, white innocent love, or pink for admiration, the rose is all about the connections that we make with each other and the communion of energies and emotions that are a part of humanity’s makeup.

When I see this card and Rosa multiflora imagery, the clusters of pink roses speak to me of that inter-connectivity and how people need people. This isn’t a single long stemmed rose, but rather it is a variation of multiflora, which grows with clusters of flowers gathered together.

Whether we are an extrovert or an introvert, all people thrive in connection with others… some thrive in large groups, and others with just one or two close people. But, it is that connection between people that helps bring depth and breadth to life as a whole, and most suffer in some way when it is not present in their lives in some manner.

The Alchemist's Garden Tarot - Root of Pentacles - Metrosideros excelsa (aka. Pohutukawa) - NurtureRoot of PentaclesMetrosideros excelsa (aka. Pohutukawa) – Nurture

The Pohutukawa is an evergreen of the myrtle family that is endemic to New Zealand. The kahika flowers that this tree produces offer sweet nectar, while the strong roots that can even cling to rocky cliffs to support the colorful tree that towers above.

This combination of strength and beauty speaks deeply to me of the Queen of Pentacles and her strength… and her beauty.   She is supportive and warm, yet strong as iron.  She supports… she is sweet… and she is hard.

This card speaks to me of all these qualities.  It speaks to me of safety and stability.  Of someone that isn’t afraid to let their strength and stable foundation show, and can radiate beauty even as  they hold together all that matters to them.  It is a card that depicts a delicate and beautiful hand with an iron grip that will be used to support itself and others.
