Valentine’s Day Tarot Reading

Valentine's Tarot Spread - Luna's Light Angel Tarot

How can I accept myself as I am today?

Nine of Coins – Take some time to look at and admire all that you have accomplished and recognize how well off you actually are. Give yourself credit for all that you’ve done.

What can I do to show myself love today?

Four of Cups – Meditate. Let go of your dissatisfaction and disillusionment. Accept that you have done what you can for today, and that it’s out of your hands now until tomorrow. Brooding on the issue is not going to help you, and is forcing you into an unhealthy state.

How can I best express my love today?

Hanged Man Rx, Seven of Wands atop Chariot Rx – Restrain yourself from going gung-ho into “fight mode”. You know you’re in the right, but getting up in arms is not going to resolve things any sooner. You will draw in more bees with honey than vinegar.

Something someone else does to show me love.

Page of Wands – They give you new and exciting things to focus on to take your mind off of the things that you can’t deal with right now. Gideon, in particular, has been working to distract you through your shared passions and new adventures you create together in your play.

Something that will bring more love into my life.

Three of Swords – Acknowledge your pain, sense of betrayal, and disillusionment, and then let it go instead of holding onto it so that it continues to bleed you. Don’t coil yourself around that pain, or it will continue to cut you over and over again.

Divination – How Does It Work?

This is a perspectives prompt that was offered up recently by one of the Discord servers that I’m a member of. Question: “How do you think divination works? To give some context to the question – there are various models I know of. For instance, some say that your tarot deck connections to The Universe. What do you think?

I get this question often with long-term clients, and the thing is? That “where does the message come from?” question is actually pretty common when you read for others. The thing is, the answer is different for everyone depending on their beliefs, their skillset, and their sensitivities. Some options are…

1) The Universe – This includes but is not limited to God, other deity, divinity of all forms, and other “universal” energies or personalities. The way that I see divinity is that it is essentially the energies of creation, evolution, and balance in all things. People interpret these energies differently depending on their belief system and to parse out what “parts and pieces” of these energies they specifically want to deal with.

2) The Dead (whether it is the individual or their residual energy) – Mediumship is a thing. There are those that receive messages from the dead as their main source of divination. There are others that the dead surely influence their readings without them even realizing.

3) Guiding Spirits – This could include the dead and ancestors, but also includes the Fae, angels, demons, and other entities that are there in the background to help guide and protect you.

4) Other Entities – Sometimes mischief makers can influence a reading. These aren’t guiding spirits so much as entities out for their own agendas. Most people who encounter this issue, in my experience, find that they were divining just fine and then suddenly find that their deck/pendulum/etc is “acting up”. They cleanse the deck and in the process end up repelling the entity regardless of the fact that the entity is probably not residing in the tool being used.

5) The Subconscious – Our brains are busy working things out all the time in the background, and we don’t even realize it. Sometimes the messages we receive from divination come straight out of that dark inner working of gears, no external influences involved. This also includes communicating with your inner child and other parts of your past and present self.

6) Our Intuition – That mysterious “inner knowing” we all have. Some tap into it more easily than others, and some use divination to translate what their intuition has to say.

7) Clair-senses and Other Abilities – Much like with one’s intuition, sometimes these “other” abilities can be hard to understand and interpret without a little help. Divination can often provide that intermediary / translator needed in these situations.

I see divination as a bridge between languages. The languages of the above sources… and your conscious mind and understanding. Whether it’s pendulums, tarot cards, scrying, automatic writing, etc… the divination method is meant to help you better understand what needs to be seen, heard, or understood. It’s there to help you communicate with yourself and these other entities, elements, and energies.

Essential Playing Cards Lavender Edition

What must be cleared out to make room for this coming cycle?

Queen of Diamonds and Four of Hearts – Be ruthless in purging yourself of your current draw toward stagnancy. That draw is your depression talking, and it doesn’t need any encouragement or given a place where it’s allowed to grow and flourish unchecked.

What would benefit from a pause to let the dust settle?

Ace of Diamonds and Ten of Clubs – Don’t add any new brilliant ideas right now, you already have enough on your plate. Just concentrate on what is before you instead.

What opportunities can grow in the stillness?

King of Hearts and Six of Clubs – “Happy wife, happy life.” No, the phrase does not entirely fit, but that’s exactly what we have here. These cards indicate that the opportunity given is more time with Gideon, and thus more harmony in your life over all.

When new energy arrives, how can I direct it for greatest effect?

Ten of Diamonds and Three of Clubs – Go for the gold. You want these projects on your plate done. Times of stillness allow you to plan, so that when new energy comes in you can bolt off the starting block full speed ahead with your target in focus.

How can I prepare for the next cycle when it’s time?

Four of Clubs and Six of Hearts – Enjoy the rest and time in harmony with others. Don’t worry about what’s coming, just live in the moment and let it come at its own pace.

Weekly Creativity Prompt – How I Lost My Voice

“Blurring the Lines” Creativity Prompt: “Choose a card to represent a real life experience that happened to you last year (any type of experience counts). Then, randomly draw two more cards, and use them to veer fact off into fiction and expand on your experience with a fictional extension, ending, or additional fictional details.

Lovely Om TarotTen of Swords – A mighty crash as door frame and lock shatter.  A stranger within my home. A battle waged with ice pick against blade. Pain excruciating, and yet nothing at all, and in the end, the blade won. And then the pain went away and there was only peace, and silence, and stillness.

Six of Swords – Then came a stirring. A pull upon my soul. A glowing thread of comfort and need that drew me from that peaceful place. I followed the thread, seeking to sooth the ache of need felt as it drew me to its end. Bringing me forward through time and space to reunite with that familiar piece of me given to another… and more.

Two of Cups atop Queen of Cups – It lead me to my beloved, who grieved with all his heart.  And I knew that I couldn’t go back, and I couldn’t go forward either. I chose to stay here with him. To wait. To whisper comforting and loving words to him in his dreams and sit on his shoulder or tuck in just behind his ear, day in and day out, until he could eventually join me.

Winter Fog Lenormand Reading

Winter Fog Lenormand Reading - Simply Lenormand

What am I having trouble seeing clearly?

Tower and Bouquet – You are being snowed by someone of authority making kind gestures and pleasing efforts. Make sure you stay alert and aware, and don’t allow these moments of fleeting happiness (and ass kissing) skew you from your more accurate first impressions.

What might be fogging up my view?

Scythe and Rider – You’re too busy trying to hurt yourself to watch out for others might be looking to do the same or worse. Let go of the past and move forward instead, for those past experiences aren’t helping you to see more clearly in the present, or in seeing the best path forward.

How can I get clarity on the situation?

Lily and Child – Look at others that have already had experience with this person and gone through past situations with them. Learn from them by approaching them with curiosity and asking questions.

Weekly Creativity Prompt – The Lovers

Prompt: Pull the Lovers card from your deck(s). Compare the imagery between the Lovers card from the Tarot of the Hidden Realm and the Lovers card(s) from your own deck(s). Based off the imagery, how would you read them differently, and why?

The Lovers - Tarot of the Hidden RealmTarot of the Hidden Realm – There is a sweetness here, and a loving innocense.  This is the anticipation of first love with a moment’s hesitancy due to innocence.  There is trust in this moment and irresistable attraction. Here we see depicted a moment caught in time where a bridge is created between what once was… and what will be. A decision made that will forever change everything. How do you make the right choice? Where does the decision come from?

Tarot of the Hidden Realm, Eros Garden of Love Tarot, Blood Moon Tarot, Tarot de Maria Celia

Eros Garden of Love Tarot – So wrapped up in each other they can’t see the serphent tangled among them, here we see depicted the distraction that sex, attraction, and passion can become when one dives in care free and careless. Others watch on (the angel) but don’t interfere, like a friedn that wants to warn their friend that the “other half” is bad news but won’t because they either don’t want to butt in or fear damaging their friendship by pointing out the obvious. This card asks… what has your passion blinded you to? What warnings and dangers lurk that you are ignoring because you are too caught up in the moment?

Blood Moon Tarot – To me, this card is very reminiscent of the Tarot of the Hidden Realm’s Lovers card. The same irresistable draw of opposites, but with less innocence, and more passion with a gritty “tangled roots” sort of feeling. There is heat here in the connection between the two figures, familiarity and pulse fluttering intimacy, as well as a sharing of resources that speaks of nurturing energy, love, and care. Union flavored with passion, emotion, and support. Where in the Tarot of the Hidden Realm the card depicts a choice in the moment it is about to be made… here we see that choice made once and over again and again.

Tarot de Maria Celia – Let us not forget the Marseille depiction of the Lovers, which we see here in this card. A man and his bride stand together as a mother figure tries to pull him away.  Sometimes, this mother figure is an alluring “other woman” instead.  In both cases, this imagery is all about choices and making decisions that are best for you and alligned with your values and what you want in life. This imagery is asking if you are allowing yourself to be distracted from what is best and healthiest for you. Do you make the good choice? Or let distractions, temptations, and other influences pull you away and off this path you’ve invested in?
