Dark and damp
a place to hide
that little bugger
he went inside
can hear him giggle
with a sniggering snort
a “ch-ch-ch” is
my quiet retort
soon to emerge
the chase will continue
and a dance within
liminal spaces
will then ensue.

Gideon’s Challenge
Gideon’s Challenge
like a raw wound
that only sleep
can soothe
scratchy
achy
a grumpy mess
lie down
take a breath
and
finally… relief.
After my week off there were more orders to get through than I was prepared from. In order to get them out today as I needed to, it required an all-nighter. I finally finished making the jewelry around 2am… and packaged orders from 2:30am to 7am.
Everything’s done. Everything’s shipped…. but goddamn I’m tired.

Gideon’s Challenge
Little tufts
and lots of dust
pillars of growth
within moisture’s kiss
and a spark of life
at the tips
Tall like trees
they stand
a tiny surreal forest
full of life
that could fit within a thimble
Just some of the most fascinating things you can find when you take a moment to just take a pause and… look. The spark of life is a truly miraculous thing.

Gideon’s Challenge
you’re looking for
Not the soil
you crave
and yet each day
it generously feeds you
the energy
and stability
you need
to make it one more day
and another
until the forests
can welcome you home.
If I could spend each and every day in the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest, I think that it probably still wouldn’t be enough. I am fortunate, and infinitely grateful, that when I can’t get out to the welcoming arms of the forest I love, there is still plenty of work to be done on my employer’s farm to keep my connection to the earth healthy and strong.
