Eggs… and Chickens

Today’s meditation was skipped.

The Wandering Moon Tarot - The MoonToday’s draw is the Moon card, which is traditionally a representation of uncertainty, illusion, anxiety, fear, the unknown, and the subconscious.

Okay so the moon looks like a cookie… or maybe a Ritz cracker, and the two hands look like they’re holding champagne flutes up in a toast.  What exactly are they celebrating? And, considering the theme of the card’s traditional meaning… are they celebrating too soon?

This card reminds me of that phrase, “don’t count your chickens before their hatched”.  It speaks to me of assumptions and not leaving enough room for unexpected changes, hurdles, and obstacles that might crop up along the way.

Sometimes, not knowing what’s coming keeps us alert and helps us in preparing for the unexpected that might otherwise trip us up.  This doesn’t mean expecting the worst or looking at everything in a pessimistic viewpoint, but rather simply making sure you’ve accomplished what you set out to accomplish before you start celebrating your success.

I ate on a timer today, and made sure that I took a few breaks throughout the day instead of keeping my head down and plowing through the whole day without stepping away from my work.

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Self Care Saturday Reading with the Hudes Tarot and The Friar's Delight Lenormand

EarthJudgement – Make good choices. When it comes to your finances in the week ahead, make sure that you are looking at where you want to go and what you want to do before you make any financial choices or spend any money.

AirThe Fool – Instill a sense of innocence into your thought processes and perspectives this week. Make sure you were looking forward and up, even in the face of disappointment. Just keep going and allow yourself to have some fun.

WaterSeven of Wands – Fight for some time with Gideon this week. You value that time a great deal and you need it to help you stay balanced and on track. In order to get it, though, you’re going to have to do a little bit of fighting and finagling.

FirePage of Wands Rx atop Ten of Pentacles – Not being able to have a chance to play and finagle is going to make it hard for you to see things in a positive light where your business is concerned. Make sure that you are combating these feelings with a closer look at all that you have accomplished.

WaningLord and Fish – Accept that everything is going to be easy or go the way you want this week.

WaxingWhip and Rider – You’re going to have to push yourself to get things done this week. Plowed through obstacles and keep moving forward at all costs.

Take Away – Use a sense of his an innocence and a lean into positivity to help you through difficult times in the week ahead. There will be several disappointments and stumbling blocks in your way, and this attitude will help you in moving past them and adapting more quickly. Take care with your spending this week and make sure that your expenses and those things you spend money on are supportive in your goals.

November 26

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Hudes Tarot Deck - Page of WandsToday’s draw is the Page of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s drive, willpower, determination, passions, values and principles, motivations, and inner spark.

Pages are often about starting over, as the journey through the suit brings you to a conclusion in the Ten of Wands with being overly burdened, and then the Page comes after with his burden set down and ready to begin again and do things better the second time around.

The seriousness of the expression in this Page’s features speaks to me of having learned from mistakes, and carrying that knowledge forward into their second time around.  They have knowledge under their belt this time, and seek more still so that they don’t repeat the same mistakes again.

This begs the question… what in life have you found yourself beginning again?  What lessons from your past experiences can help you in doing better this time around?  Today’s card encourages us to look at these past experiences and gather up the lessons learned from them so that we can move forward and succeed when we try again.

I managed to take a few breaks today to hang out on the server and banter a bit with Gideon, rather than just working straight through the day without any breaks.

Chance… and Faith

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Tarot of the Unknown - TemperanceToday’s draw is the Temperance card, which is traditionally a representation of moderation, balance, slowing down, practicing patience, and can at times represent a connection between the physical, mental,  emotional, and spiritual.

As the angel pours from cup to cup in this card, their eyes are closed. This represents not skill or even moderation… but rather that the transition is done through faith.

This card says that you don’t have to control every aspect of the world around you, and that some things can be left up to fate or chance… and that in doing so?  They will still turn out okay.

Fridays are the closest I can get to a “day off” during the holiday rush. Fridays are ship-out-days, which means I get a change to breathe after the packages have been dropped off. I used this time today to take a much needed nap.

Merriment and Camaraderie

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Cattitude Tarot - Three of CupsToday’s draw is the Three of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of friendships, merriment, celebration, and camaraderie.

Okay, so I had my Thanksgiving a few days early, and I have no plans of celebrating tonight… but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate that this card popped up on Thanksgiving Day.  In fact?  I love that.

I love the idea that people are gathering, loved ones spending time together with good food in warm homes and enjoying each others company.

Drinks or no drinks, there’s something special about this idea and it lightens my heart to know that even if not every household is celebrating in this way?  Many are… and having a wonderful time filled with gratitude and appreciation for each other and the time they are spending together.

Today is an orders day, and I’ve been working hard at getting orders done after having spent Tuesday night away from home and Wednesday on the road. That said… I’ve been eating on a timer so that I don’t forget.
