Just A Little More

Day’s end comes
with sinking sun
and as light dies
time to sleep
arrives
but I don’t
want it to end
lets play
a little longer
as greedily
I seek
just a little more time
with you

I Am The Evergreen

Porcupine quills
should hurt
but in the
winter cold
the prick of needles
is only
a touch of pressure
upon the skin
I am brittle
but strong
and I will
continue to grow
thrive and survive

The Welcome Wet

Wet wood
soft underfoot
leads the way
through towering trees
draped in moss
and
bare reaching arms
of leafless brush
tangle to conceal
the flowing trickle
of water below

Don’t bounce
or you might fall thru

Glacier Lake

Take a moment
to soak it in
take a breath
cold and fresh
take a pause
and sit a while
but don’t jump in
or nip turns to bite
this is a
“don’t touch” place
of deceptively
dangerous beauty
that can kill

Look Deeper

The whisper comes
“look deeper”
causes feet to pause
and head to turn
as gaze scans
over green and gray
“look deeper” it says
coaxing the lean in
as curious gaze
gets entranced
by delicate swirls
and frills of life
hills and valleys
on a minute scale

Sometimes
when you look up
into the sky
you see fluffy clouds
upon an expanse
of blue
and then
other times…

you see
Bugs Bunny
riding a rocket
