Smooth and Calm

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Reverse Scale Tarot - Ace of CupsToday’s draw is the Ace of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of the seed of new beginnings in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, and intuition.

The reminder here is in the overflow of water from the cup, and is about making sure that you’re not losing your sight of your goals when emotions rise up and try to make a mess of things.

Today is promising to be an emotional day.  Just make sure you’re remembering that this is a time of newness for you where your emotions are concerned.  Take a breath and keep the waters smooth and calm.

Reverse Scale Tarot and Shadow Healing Aboriginal Guidance CardsWhere in life do I need to be serious and buckle down?

Five of Cups Rx atop Ace of Cups, Anger – Don’t turn away from your emotions, even the negative ones. They don’t have to be pushed away and ignored, and aren’t as destructive or ugly as you make them out to be.

As an adult, where do I take myself too seriously?

Two of Wands and Frustration – Road blocks are not the end of the road, so don’t worry so much about delays in the planning stage. Not everything has to be a rush.

How can I go about lightening up in the areas where I take myself too seriously?

Ace of Pentacles Rx atop Page of Swords, Overwhelmed – Don’t start over when you get irritated and frustrated. Stick with it instead. Take a breath, let it go, and accept whatever frustrations are bothering you as a part of the learning experience.

Daily Self Kindness

Today’s self kindness was cutting the readings for today in half so that I wasn’t so rushed this morning.

Filling the Void

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Sambucus Tarot Collectors EditionToday’s draw is the Tower card, which is traditionally a representation of sudden, chaotic change.  This is the kind of change that  you don’t see coming.  It’s usually big, loud, and filled with chaos and drama.  It is the kind of change that removes those things that need removing so that something new can take its place.

Although the art style is very modern, the theme in this card is classic.  The lightning.  The Tower.  The storm.  It all comes together as a reminder that this kind of change is often destructive, but that that destruction has a purpose.  Instead of focusing on what’s been lost, seek out what there is that can now be brought in to fill the void left behind.

Sea + Soul Journey CardsWhat personal lessons does Virgo want to teach me during Virgo season?

Joy, Believe, and Shine – Virgo wants to help you in developing the ability to lift yourself up, even during difficult times through a sense of faith, hope, and joy. Being a pessimistic person at heart, it is too easy to fall back into old habits, and Virgo season seeks to teach you to hold onto those positive influences in your life that leaning into optimism can provide.

In what area is Virgo guiding me to focus {more} on myself and my needs?

Space and Soothed – Virgo wishes to remind you that meditation is an activity that has a great deal of benefits that are needed in your life. You need to start making sure that you are making the space to allow for this activity to happen each day.

Where can I be more self-reliant and thus less dependent on those around me?

Bliss – Please yourself above others. Make yourself and what you take pleasure in a priority.

Sambucus Tarot Collectors EditionWhat memories bring me joy?

Memories of times when you are not lost within yourself and stuck in a place unable to see the world around you clearly (Four of Cups Rx). These memories of times free of depression allow you to see clearly where you are on your chosen path and that you are headed in the right direction (Judgement).

What memories bring me pain?

Times when you have tumbled headlong (The Fool) into addictions and unhealthy practices that are self-harming and otherwise destructive (The Devil Rx).

Daily Self Kindness

I’m almost at the end of my marathon of catching up, but this is another one that I can’t remember what self kindness I did for myself today.

Flex Through It

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Inkromancy 3 Skulls EditionToday’s draw is the Nine of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of anxiety, worries, nightmares, insomnia, and negative inner dialogue.

In the imagery of this card, the two petals of the flower that are on each side look to me like one of those “bicep arm flex” emojis. This impression, combined with the fact that it is the Nine of Swords, speaks to me of a need to stand strong in the face of anxiety and worry.

Today’s card is a reminder that things are not always as bad as they seem or are made out to be in your head, and it sometimes a little extra “flex” can help carry us through to the other side of these triggering issues.

Age of Aquarius TarotSeeds Sown – What seeds for my emotional growth planted in the Spring have flourished and grown strong?

Four of Swords and Six of Cups – You’ve done well at working towards setting aside the issues of the past and letting them rest instead of continuing to plague you. In the spring you struggled a lot with your depression, but in putting rest to the past, you’ve been able to move forward and upward into a healthier space.

The Chaff – What seeds have not flourished and need to be let go to encourage healthy growth in other areas?

Three of Swords and The Devil – The temptation to allow your depression to linger is something you were struggling with a great deal in the spring and early summer. You’ve managed to set that aside though, and as a result are feeling much better now.

You need to keep in mind why you set those complacent behaviors aside and how they were feeding into that lingering depression, so that you do not repeat the behaviors that could encourage it to return.

The Harvest – How can I best prepare now to reap the benefits of a positive and healthy harvest in the Fall?

Judgement and Six of Rods Rx – Work on setting aside people pleasing urges so that you are not influenced by others with the coming fall. You need to keep in mind where your values lie and let them guide your actions, and not worry so much about others and the possible negative impressions you may make along the way.

In other words, you can’t please everybody, but you damn well better please yourself.

Inkromancy 3 Skulls EditionWhat situation do I need to view with objective eyes?

You need to remember that it’s okay not to be able to hold everything together on your own all of the time (Page of Swords). Such an endeavor is a community job, and is not all on your shoulders alone. It is through the diversity of community and differences that reside there that we find the “glue” that holds everything together (Five of Wands).

What emotions am I repressing?

Frustration (Seven of Cups) and disappointment in myself (Three of Swords) for the times when I’ve struggled to find balance (Two of Swords Rx).

How do I forgive myself?

Keep at it (Eight of Pentacles), and remember that shit falling apart as a part of life (The Tower). It’s not your fault, and even if it is, it makes things better in the end so don’t blame yourself so harshly for the things that are out of your control (The Tower Rx).

Don’t Run

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Black Cats Tarot - The TowerToday’s draw is the Tower card, which is traditionally a representation of sudden and chaotic change, a forced transition, and tearing down old establishments and constructs.

For a minute when I first looked at this card, the tower looks like it had a humanoid shape with the cats being arms and the crack down along the earth being a leg. It looked like the figure was ducking and running for cover.

Change is good. How can you build something better and more stable unless you tear down the old shit first?

Question for August 20th and 22nd

The Smith & Morty TarotAs an adult, where am I neglecting myself at this time?

Ten of Pentacles and Nine of Cups Rx – You are sacrificing your happiness for stability.  A little bit of sacrifice can be a good thing, but you’re taking it a bit too far.

How can I begin to resolve this pattern of neglect?

Wheel of Fortune and Eight of Pentacles Rx – Through good times and bad you need to make sure that you’re taking time off, and not focusing so hard on work that you’re missing everything else around you and distancing yourself from what really matters.

Black Cats TarotWhere can I be more charitable with my time/feelings/thoughts?

The Emperor and Ten of Pentacles – Don’t be so goddamn judgy with yourself about what makes you feel safe, secure, and in control; and pick up on your meditation in order to inject a more stable feeling into your life.

Notation: The reading of these two cards is 100% about the imagery, and not what the cards are in the Tarot. The imagery and message (shoved down my throat) from the cards in this instance supersedes everything else.

Where is my biggest opportunity to prosper?

The Devil Rx and Five of Pentacles – Use your feelings of scarcity to avoid overspending.

Well no shit.

No Question Without Quest

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Pussy Cat Tarot - Queen of SwordsToday’s draw is the Queen of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, logic, intellect, education, strategy, ambition, and communication.

Combined with the quote on the back of the card as well as the imagery of the cat with the glowing eyes and a sword through the head, I see a message about moderation in today’s card.

What I see here is a reminder that it’s just as easy to inspire others to your cause as it is to do everything yourself.  Spark the interest of others and draw them in to help you in your efforts.  Make it an adventure they will all want to be a part of.

DECK USED:  PUSSY CAT TAROT

Daily Self Kindness

I pulled the rest of August’s decks from the shelves rather than picking out decks to use from day to day. The other way just wasn’t working for me and was making getting my personal readings done a difficulty.

Sprouting and Growth

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Riderless Tarot - Page of WandsToday’s draw is the Page of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s willpower, drive, passions, motivation, priorities, values, and principles. This often translates into those that are beginning on a passion project and learning what is needed to start such a journey.

One of the things I love most about the traditional imagery of the Page of Wands is the sprouting leaves on the wand, which is something that was carried over into this deck.  I love the theme of newness and growth that these leaves represent.

With the theme of those leaves in mind, the message in today’s card is about focusing on your growth and not taking it for granted.  Leaves sprout from healthy plants, so when you take care of yourself you sprout leaves… you grow… and you have the energy to explore.

Questions for August 16th thru 18th

Pussy Cat Tarot - Two of Swords, Knight of Cups, Ten of Swords, Two of PentaclesWhat empowering knowledge can I find within my own shadows?

Ten of Swords atop Two of Pentacles – All things come back into balance eventually. It is the nature of the universe. Sometimes hardship is what is needed in order to make that happen.

In what way can embracing my shadows in order to let my darkness help me?

Knight of Cups – Stay focused on what you want and your darkness will lead you there. Sort of like when you’re driving, you steer where you are looking whether you mean to or not. Do you look at the tree or do you look at the road?

How can my shadows serve me as a catalyst of my strength(s)?

Two of Swords – Take the lessons learned as a way to make better decisions in the future. Otherwise the knowledge that your shadow has for you is useless.

Riderless Tarot - Six of Swords and The HierophantWhat do I love about me?

Six of Swords – My ability to know what’s right for me, and what isn’t, and the independence that is needed to make decisions for myself to improve my situation instead of putting up with what isn’t working.

How can I be more kind to myself?

The Hierophant – Continue on a path of learning in this area and don’t let pressures in the background push you in directions that aren’t right for you. Seek out those traditional ways of self care that are tried and true and you know will work.
