Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

The Family Tarot Deck - The High Priestess and Art From the Heart Affirmation Cards

Today’s draw is The High Priestess card, which is traditionally a representation of intuition, secrets, sacred knowledge, mystery, the subconscious mind.

The High Priestess card has then been combined with an affirmation from the Art From the Heart Affirmation Cards, which says, “I am beautiful. I am worthy. I am enough. Always remember that who you are as a gift. There has never been anyone quite like you. Recognize your words, start embracing who you are, and love yourself.”

One of the key elements in my spiritual practice is self discovery and self betterment. Sometimes, that means that I look at some pretty dark, hidden sides of myself and seek to understand them. This allows them to be seen, if only by me, and accepted (even if not allowed to run free.. you know, for the safety of myself and others).

Sometimes, getting to know these secret parts of myself comes with pain, discomfort, and disappointments. At these times, it’s important to not allow those parts to fool me into thinking they are the whole, and thus causing me to look at my entire self in the same light that I do those hidden pieces.

The message in today’s High Priestess card and affirmation is a reminder that we are all made up of parts. Some parts are hidden, and others are put on display. That doesn’t make some of them more valid or acceptable (to you) than the others. It just means the hidden parts are just for you. Give them attention too.

Cartomancy Reading with the Holy Shrump Sporelust! Playing Cards

A goal or dream I want to take a small step toward

Ten of Spades – Starting over. Essentially, that’s what I’m in the middle of doing. Rebuilding from the ground up with the pieces left over from the destruction of the past year.

It’s the small steps that I’m struggling with.

What soft intentional living looks like in my everyday life

Seven of Diamonds – Harmony and harvest. Having what I need when I need it instead of feeling the snapping teeth of scarcity (whether real or imagined) always at my heels.

What I want to make more room for in the season ahead

King of Diamonds – I want to make more time for the things that foster a sense of stability in myself, and through that in others as well. It is when I am feeling at my most stable and secure that those around me do too.I like providing that feeling of stability for myself and others both.

Tarot Reading from The Family Tarot Deck

Self-Compassion – How can I practice greater self-compassion?

King of Swords, Faith Rx (The Lovers Rx), The Moon

Take control and direct the narrative where it needs to go when things are feeling hopeless and uncertain.

Giving freedom to unhealthy habits during these times only leads to more uncertainty, creating a cycle that’s then more difficult to break than if you’d stayed on top of those inner narratives and unhealthy behaviors from the start.

Anticipating – What energy do I want to carry into September?

Eight of Cups Rx and Eight of Wands Rx

Slow down, stay, and savor. You want to fix things instead of running from them, even if the effort takes far longer than you’d normally be comfortable with.

Other elements included in this reading:
Foraged Parmeliaceae Lichen for a “Breath of Fresh Air”
Gneiss Stone for Patience in Moments of Discomfort
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Erenberg Tarot's Eight of Swords and a card from the Art From the Heart Affirmation Cards

Today’s draw is the Eight of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of willful ignorance, self-imposed restrictions, turning a blind eye (especially when it can be harmful to self), and entertaining a victim mentality.

The Eight of Swords has then been combined with a card from the Art From the Heart Affirmation Cards, which says, “I have control over my perceptions, decisions, and actions. When you consciously choose to fill your day with the highest priority actions – those that truly matter to you – you created deeply meaningful and inspiring life.”

Sometimes it’s difficult to open ourselves up to our own faults and flaws. We lash out at others without realizing having done so, we allow snark to get in the way of genuine conversation, etc. These things happen. It’s a part of being human.

Stress, anxiety, or a hyper focus on a particular thing or theme can blind us to unhealthy ways of dealing that can leave us (and those around us) floundering instead of coping.

This is why it’s important to work at looking outside yourself and your own perceptions to enlist a greater perspective. In doing so, we are given the opportunity to adjust our approach into something more caring, kind, and open. The key is in wanting to do this, though, instead of falling back on unhealthy defense mechanisms.

The message in today’s Eight of Swords and affirmation card is a reminder that it’s important to open our eyes and look honestly at how we are treating ourselves and others. Are we leaning into abusive self defensive maneuvers? If so, it’s time to be honest about that and seek a better way do deal.

: How can I honor both desire and responsibility?

Oracle Reading with the Runs of Sea and Sand Deck

Reading Summary: Don’t waffle (Haste) when asked to make a decision (The Boat), go with your gut (The Deep).

Take Away: Your intuition always knows. Think of how many times you’ve followed your gut and it’s been right… and how many times you’ve -not- followed your gut and looked back later to realize that you absolutely should have in the first place.

If you catch the whispers of your intuition when they speak deep inside you, it will tell you which direction to turn. The key, is in the fact that this guidance comes in a whisper. You have to listen for it.

Let that quiet intuitive voice be your guide, and take care not to allow logic and reason (or fears and uncertainty) to step in and usurp its position in the lead.

Conch Shell Knots for Concentration, Clarity, and Determination
Great Scallop Shell for the Flowing with Beginnings and Endings

: Where in life do I need to be serious and buckle down?

Tarot Reading with the Erenberg Tarot

Reading Summary: Lean into those things that you have excelled at and still have more room to advance (Eight of Pentacles). This isn’t about winning or losing (Five of Swords Rx), nor about doing things the way they’ve always been done (The Hierophant Rx).

Take Away: It is in creating and sharing your artistry that you truly excel. These cards indicate it’s time to look beyond the ways you have heretofore been going after this pursuit, and to stop looking at it as a pass or fail endeavor.

Work at viewing your creativity an adventure and an exploration, for it needs to be treated as such. Dive in with the excitement of exploring something new and letting your curiosity run rampant, instead of tripping over feelings of obligation or responsibility.

Just because you make money through your creative spark doesn’t mean it has to feel like a chore.

Other elements included in this reading:
Dried Cedar Bundle for Protection from Negative Influences
Green Calcite for Finding Balance Within the Self
Citrine for Energy Lift (easing the weight of heavy energies)
Carnelian Agate Mushroom for Focusing On Aspirations

Tarocchini Mitelli - Fortune card

Today’s draw is the Wheel of Fortune card, which is traditionally a representation of luck (both good and bad), changing circumstances, the ups and downs of life, and the cyclical nature of life and the world.

In the Tarocchino Mitelli deck, this is called the Fortune card, and is one of two cards in the deck that represent human destiny, the other being Death.

The Fortune card has then been combined with a card from the Art From the Heart Affirmation Cards, which says, “I trust my inner voice and intuition. Slow down, quiet your mind, and go within. Only in the stillness of your beam can you recognize the soft ripples from your wisdom.”

My meditation today was also about stillness, and how in touching upon stillness we find moments of centering within ourselves and a resulting moment of peace. The session guided the listener in taking a a beat to savor moments of stillness and silence prior to disrupting those moments with music or other distractions.

In these cards, I see a reminder that life is about what we do with our moments. Whether good luck or bad, our gift is in life itself. It is in the situations and experiences that we go through, and that we get the most out of the life we are given.

The message in today’s Fortune card and affirmation encourages us to savor that life. Not just the good moments, but also the bad. To find the boon, to enjoy what we can, and to be mindful that someday it’s all going to be over. Thus why it’s even more important to find and enjoy whatever good we can while we can.

Tarot Reading with the Slow Holler Tarot and The Lantern Oracle

A dream or wish I still carry with me

Six of Vessels and Donuts

The tea house. Ever since I was very little, I have always dreamed of owning and running an apothecary and teahouse. One business split in half but connected. An apothecary on one side where natural remedies are dispensed to those who need them, and a teahouse on the other that sells house blend tea and a selection of delicacies to sit and enjoy with your cup.

I’ve even played this out in writing role-play at one point, although I never actually let anybody know that it was my dream business that I was playing at at the time.

I don’t think that at this point this is a dream that I will ever be fulfilled, and that’s okay! It’s still one that I daydream about quite often, though, and sometimes visualize in my meditation practice.

Something I want to learn or explore more deeply

Traveler of Branches and Graveyard

I would like to delve deeper into my mediumship work. Like most things that I’m curious about and enthusiastic about, it’s difficult for me to go slow in this area no matter how much I feel like it’s important that I do so.

I am delving deeper into this area a little at a time, though. It just somehow always feels like I could be doing so much more. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that I’m holding myself back on purpose, and at those times I end up feeling restless.

I think the slow speed is important, for it will keep me from trampling over things that I don’t yet understand, or charging past things that are important to the learning process.

Tarot Reading with the Tarocchini Mitelli

Clarity – How can I allow myself to pause and gain more clarity?

King of Cups and Six of Swords

Stop trying so hard to protect yourself from your emotions or to control them. Emotions work differently than thoughts, and you won’t be able to deal with them in the same manner or treat them in the same way as you do your thoughts and inner narratives.

In order to gain more clarity, you have to allow your emotions to have the space to express themselves openly and clearly, consulting with those that know better than you in this area when you are able to. Running away just makes things all the more clouded and confused.

Mercury conjunct Jupiter – Where am I ready to start thinking bigger?

Ace of Cups atop Ace of Coins

Retail therapy is not working out for you of late, and you are looking for new and different ways in which to get that taste of dopamine without spending the coin needed to do so through the retail therapy route.

Some people eat their emotions, other people spend them or spoil them. There’s all different sorts of ways in which people seek out a “self-medicating” path where their emotions are concerned. You are looking for one better suited to your current situation than what you’ve previously been using.
