Peace and comfort
and nurturing warmth
slide into place
like a body
fitting in
against another
as arms wrap
to hold close
those most dear
and these moments
linger
in our memories
far into the future
to comfort us
in times of need
When the
harsh and cold
of the world
makes everything
seem dim
Weekly Creativity Prompt – A New Beginning
Prompt: “In line with the new year that’s fast approaching, pull (at least) three cards and use them to tell us a real or fictional story about new beginnings.”
There was once an old farmer named Abel and his wife Amanda that were eager for a child. So eager… and yet so barren. They tried everything to increase their fertility and get themselves with child without avail. Then, one day, a friend came by and offered them a proposition. He would guarantee a child for the couple, but only if he was allowed to sleep with the wife for three nights in a row.
[Ship and Rider]
This proposal was a shock to the pair, but after a great deal of discussion and no amount of argument, they finally decided that it could be the only way that they might manage to conceive.
The wife packed up her bag for the trip to the resort where she would be staying with their friend, while able was left at home to imagine and consider all that she may be thinking… feeling… and god forbid, doing. When he couldn’t stand it anymore, he packed his own bags, and stormed out into the night, determined to start a new life with someone else. Someone that could give him what he wanted and not seek solutions to their problems with his so called friends.
[Snake and Clouds]
After the five days were over, Amanda came home to find her house empty and cold. She called and called his cell, but when he finally answered he spewed venomous words at her, completely and conveniently forgetting it was -he- that had pressured her into this idea in the first place and placing all the blame for his abandonment of her on her shoulders.
And thus, this is how Amanda became a single mother, and began her life anew along with the new life that now grew within her.

The Tightening Noose
Today’s meditation was skipped.
Today’s draw is the Devil card, which is traditionally a representation of temptations, addictions, and struggles with moderation. These issues, when it comes to the Devil card, are most often self inflicted instead of forced upon you by life or others.
When does it go from fun and games with friends to a little too far? Where is the line?
The imagery in this card brings that question to mind. The chains are too tight. Were they always that tight, or in their fun and games did they become too tight?
Todays card encourages us to take some time today to examine where in life you may be letting things get out of hand, and look for ways to ease up the grip of those chains before they tighten to the point you can no longer breathe.

What is dormant and waiting in my life right now?
Tower and Stars – For the holiday rush you had to set to the side a good deal of your spiritual practices and “do the responsible thing”, which required diligence and focus to be placed elsewhere. That side of yourself is currently dormant and now awaiting a reawakening and restoration.
How can I find beauty in this stillness?
Scythe and Child – This moment of pause and peace gives you the opportunity to reconnect with your wounded inner child, and give them the attention they need and attend to their wounds you have brought to the fore during the holiday rush this year.
What new growth am I anticipating?
Fish and Moon – As you begin to open back up, becoming less rigid and more flexible in your life as you ease that choking grip on your control, you will be given the opportunity to reconnect with your emotions. Don’t tense up and resist the process nor rush it along, but instead try to go with the flow and let them come at their own pace.
How can I approach this time of waiting with patience?
Key and Clouds – Don’t resist the confusion but instead relax into it. The key to making it out the other side more easily is to accept that you can’t have clarity all the time, and sometimes by sitting in your confusion and uncertainty, answers will surface more easily for you than trying to force things into how you think they should be.

Today’s draw is the Eight of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of hard work, improving one’s skills, developing expertise, apprenticeship, and can often indicate repetition and the “practice makes perfect” adage.
The thing is… this card very deliberately jumped out of the deck reversed this morning. Reversals on a card usually indicate the card’s meaning is reversed, intensified, inverted, delayed, internally directed, or that there is a negative twist involved. Here, in this card, I find the meaning to be inverted.
In the reversed Eight of Pentacles today, we see an encouragement to take some time off and allow yourself to relax. It’s been a busy year and a hectic holiday season, and you deserve a bit of a break from putting your nose to the grindstone. Allow yourself a breather and go back to your pursuits fresh after the new year.

Questions for December 1st thru 6th
December Aura: Energy of the month.
Death – There is a significant amount of change and transition that comes with December for you. Your emotions, self care, rest, and spare time are all spirited away, and every shred of your time, energy, and attention gets poured into work. Your income goes through a huge flux as well. Then, at the end of the month it all reverses again.
Advent Calendar: What positive surprise awaited me in December?
The Empress – You were able to give yourself a bit more self-care than usual for this time of year because you had a great deal of support from others. This allowed you to nurture not just your business throughout the month, but also give yourself a tiny bit of TLC as well, which is something you have been lacking in previous Decembers.
Pre-Christmas Cleanup: What should I throw away from my life?
The Fool – Take care to avoid themes that involve irresponsibility and carelessness. It’s not a part of your nature, and can cause things to spiral out of control if not careful.
Pre-Christmas Laundry: What should I clean up now?
The Tower – The cacophony of the month has come to an end, but there’s a lot of chaos still lingering in your environment. Make sure when you get back home that you take the time to pick up and put away the debris, and clean up your environment. As a result, you’ll be happier for it.
Pre-Christmas Decorating: What new can I bring to my life?
The Star – Hope and optimism need to be resurrected back into your life to keep you uplifted in the weeks and months to come.
Santa’s Visit: What can I give myself? What gift will be the best for me?
Strength – Have faith in yourself and your inner strength, and always remember that you’re stronger than you think you are.
DECK USED: CHRISTMAS SPIRIT TAROT

When my back got to the point that it needed to stop, I stayed in the car instead of trying to push myself to keep getting out and going into more of the stores that we all needed to stop at. Instead I gave my list to someone else to finish.
