Gideon’s Challenge

PhotozGoodbye Christmas

Packing up
the mistletoe
glass ornaments
back in their nests
bits of shiny
wrapped in tissue
and garlands
tucked in to rest
the tree comes down
piece by piece
as holiday cheer
is tucked away
but the little figures
of Rudolph
just want
to stay out and play

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Self Care Saturday Tarot Reading with Alexandra's Tarot and Transformation Lenormand Oracle

EarthTwo of Cups – Stability and security is not achievable on one’s own. Just because the holiday rush is over doesn’t mean you don’t still need help from others. Everything is better together.

AirSeven of Swords – Don’t get greedy. Cleverness and strategy can only take you so far. Step over the line and you could lose everything.

WaterQueen of Pentacles – Seek out those that help you feel a sense of stability and safety this week. Let them help you in finding your emotional footing.

FireAce of Wands – Too much of a good thing can be a problem. Don’t overwhelm yourself with new ideas or things you are passionate about working on. You can always write down excess inspiration to explore later.

WaningBirds and Rider – Your visit ends this week and there will be less social contact and more opportunity for a bit of alone time.

WaxingClover and Mountain – Trust luck this week to help you through any hurdles that you might find in your path.

Take Away – This week you need to make sure that you are still leaning into others. It’s hard for you to do that when you’re not desperate, but it’s a far better path forward. Make sure that you don’t overdo it with things you want to do and passions you want to explore.

Graceful Transitions

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Christmas Spirit TarotToday’s draw is the Death card, which is traditionally a representation of gradual organic changes, loss, transitions, and letting go.

The Angel in todays card is here to remind us that not everything is worth crying over when it’s lost. We go through changers and transitions every single day, some of the we go through far more gracefully than others.

Why is that? What makes some changes, transitions, and losses so much harder to deal with than others?

Today’s card asks us to lol at how we deal with change, what makes some changes easier to deal with than others, and how we can make those changes we are less than graceful with a bit easier.

Question for December 31st
: New Year Ideas: Three things I’ve never done before that I’d like to do in 2023.

Pixie's Whisper Tarot Christmas EditionPage of Coins – Turn over a new leaf financially by working to see your scarcity issues as something to learn from, rather than a panic inducing theme in your life.

Four of Cups – Actually manage to sustain a positive attitude and optimism, instead of letting pessimism propagate off itself and multiply. Your negative inner narrative has a habit of breeding like bunnies if you let it.

Three of Cups – Look forward to and enjoy time with others, instead of seeing it as a chore or something to dread. You’ve had enough positive experiences with this over the past year to help you in this endeavor.

Daily Self Kindness

I soaked in the bath again today. A glorious three whole hours. The bath tub here is so comfortable… it doesn’t look like it would be, but it is.

I feel the need
to cling to you
like lichen
clings to the the bark
of branches
and morning dew
clings to blades of grass
the feeling
creating a sense
of vulnerability
as I seek out
your comfort
so long missed
and withheld from its
fullest expression
for a few days longer

Toss or Carry Cartomancy Reading

The prompt for this reading came from one of my Discord servers and is as follows: “This week, let’s ask our divination tool of choice what we should leave behind in 2022, and what we should take with us into 2023!

New Years Decisions Cartomancy Reading with the Art Deco Christmas Playing CardsThree things I should leave behind in 2022.

Eight of Hearts – Giving up. In 2022 there were a few things you walked away from rather than confronting. Make sure not to repeat this mistake again in the year ahead. You are good at confrontation, so don’t let the potential for it to raise its head turn you away.

Jack of Hearts – Impulsivity, especially in relation to your emotions. Do not allow you emotions to force you to leap forward into situations where a pause would serve you better. Take a moment to feel your feelings… then act.  Don’t act during.

Two of Spades – Indecision. Do not stew in stagnation as you struggle with decisions that feel overwhelming. Sometimes any decision can be better than no decision made at all and being stuck in a mire of anxiety and confusion as a result.

Three things I should take with me into 2023.

Seven of Spades – Strategy. Sometimes to get ahead you have to be clever enough to out wit others on the same path as you. Do what you can to level the playing field, then rise above it and do even better than the rest.

Three of Spades – Be prepared for disappointments so that they do not take you by surprise and smack you in the face.

Three of Hearts – The support of loved ones. Continue to allow them to help and support you, even during times when you don’t want to admit you need it, or don’t think that you do.

Changing Your Nature

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Winter Solstice Season OracleToday’s draw is the Hibernation/Dream card from the Winter Solstice Season Oracle.

Now is a down time for me. In an effort to hopefully bypass my yearly major depressive episode through the early part of the year, she encouraged me to take some time off away from home.. and thus away from work, and in doing so, leave my work at home. (I usually bring work with me when I go places.)

Today’s card is a reminder of that goal, and the purpose of leaving work at home instead of trying to find ways around that to work anyway.

Having a first half of the year without being dragged into depression’s pit would be amazing, and the hibernation/dream card keeps that potential alive in my mind to encourage these efforts, no matter how much rest and not working feels against my nature.
