Gideon’s Challenge

Dreamy moments
slip by
on lazy days
like the
delicate fluff
of clouds
and as time
stands still
it is all I can do
to not let
my eyes close
and just
feel
the breeze
as it sifts
through my hair

The Gift of Listening

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Maruco's Animal & Food Tarot - Queen of CupsToday’s draw is the Queen of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, and intuition. Among other things, this often translates into themes to do with emotional support and advice from a trusted party that is easy to talk to.

What stood out to me in the imagery of this particular deck’s card today is the fact that I own that candy dish. As in… the candy dish that this particular image was drawn off of. It’s made of red carnival glass and belonged to an elderly friend that passed away a handful of years ago.

This card brought to mind that friend, and how even as stuck in her ways as she was, she always somehow had time to be still and quiet and -listen- to others.  She may not always agree, and sometimes the things that came out of her mouth were beyond rude… but that rudeness was based off of her limited experiences in the world… not insensitivity.

Today’s card is a reminder that sometimes the ability to listen is the absolute best gift you can give to others, and often far superior to any advice you might be able to offer.

Question
: What commitments can I make to support my journey towards self-love?

Spirits of the Hedgegrow OracleBlackthorn – The power to endure instead of buckling under the weight involved with times of struggle and uncertainty.

This is both a strength you possess as well as something you need to commit to and have confidence in as you move forward in your journey. Knowing you possess this strength provides a steady foundation for you to stand your ground on.

Primrose – Your ability to accept your vulnerabilities and not allow them to hold you back from self exploration is another important commitment towards your self-love journey. Don’t shirk away from that vulnerability but allow it to be a strength and something worth exploring instead.

Honeysuckle – Staying in touch with that ever present spark of creativity that influences all parts of your life. It helps keep things fun and fresh, and allows you to feel a sense of pride that you don’t feel the least bit ashamed about.

Philosophical Question:
Is personal growth required to live a good life?

Maruco's Animal & Food Tarot - Ten of Wands, Five of Cups, Eight of WandsReading Summary: Burnout (Ten of Wands), pessimism (Five of Cups), and constant forward motion (Eight of Wands) are all present in these cards, but there is no joy present in within them at all. These cards are a reminder of what your life was like before you chose to begin a journey of growth and emotional exploration within yourself.

Take Away: How do you define “a good life”? I wouldn’t consider it a good life without joy… but perhaps there are those out there that do. I think this question is too subjective to be answered easily, but for me… yes. Personal growth is required, for it is only after I dealt with the qualities in myself outlined in these cards that I truly began enjoying life instead of just living it.

I had a really good, deep nap today on Ms B’s couch.  It was glorious and needed.

The tides came
higher and higher
slipping
wave by wave
further
upon the land
and salt water
washed away
the nutrients
in the soil
to leave
the land salted
in its wake
when the ocean
called its water
back home

Spring Awakening Lenormand Reading

Spring Awakening Lenormand Reading with the Sparkly Lenormand

What part of your life is ready for a fresh start?

Ring and Birds – Seek out those things in your life that feel unstable. A “Fresh Start” does not mean discarding, but rather breathing fresh air into something gone old and tired.  Projects gone stagnant.  Look for those things that are feeling flighty, chaotic, without an anchor.  This spring is a time to bring some stability to those areas.

What needs to be nurtured to bring that a new beginning to fruition?

Key and Coffin – Connect with your grief over the ideas and projects that haven’t worked out, and give yourself permission to grieve them and then let them go. It’s okay to write them off as a loss, just make sure you deal with how you feel about it as you do so.

What can come from tending to this potential?

Lily and Scythe – Results come from sticking to the straight and narrow on this.  You can have that fresh start, and find a great deal of enjoyment and pleasure in it, but only if you put in the work to make it what you want it to be.  That means allowing yourself to feel your feelings, and dealing with letting go so that the way is clear for that fresh start to develop and begin.

Mountains Out of Molehills

Today’s meditation was skipped.

The Rabbit Tarot - Three of SwordsToday’s draw is the Three of Carrots (Swords), which is traditionally a representation of heartbreak, disappointments, and hurt feelings. The key to remember in this card is that it is in the Swords suit, which is about the mind. We are not in the Cups suit. These emotions are about being stuck in your head, they are produced by the thoughts, opinions, and inner narrative going on up in the mind. Thus, they live in the Swords suit instead of in the Cups.

I wanna go do other stuff today.  I am having such a hard time staying on task that it’s ridiculous, and considering that it’s an orders day, that’s not a great thing.

It isn’t as if there’s a lot to do… just that I don’t feel like doing it, much like the rabbit in this imagery doesn’t feel like dealing with those three carrots… no matter that there’s only three there to deal with.

The message in today’s cards is that the tasks before you are not as insurmountable as your mind makes them out to be.  Don’t let your discontent with what needs done make mountains out of molehills.

Re: The hidden root cause of your feelings of overwhelm.

The Garden OracleHow can I nurture this hidden aspect more fully?

Cool beneath Lucky – Chill out and allow things to take their own course, then be pleasantly surprised when they go better than you expect. Don’t allow your negative inner narrative and pessimism to become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

How can I embrace these hidden aspects for what they are?

Control Rx atop Fix Rx – Remember that it’s not about controlling things or fixing them, but about acceptance and understanding.

What will help to balance out what I know and what is hidden from me?

Happy – Lean into that optimism and positivity that you are using to counterbalance your negativity. Look for things you don’t just enjoy, but actually consider fun… those things that make you smile and laugh in delight rather than in sarcasm or derision.

What tools will help me bring about the balance I am looking for?

Beauty atop Brother – Take time to enjoy and appreciate the healthy and happy relationships you have with those you are closest with.

How can I become more observant so there isn’t so much hiding in the Shadows?

Silent – Return to your meditation practice, and to doing it regularly. You need the stillness it has to offer you and the quiet contemplation it inspires.

Question
: How can I cultivate a greater sense of adventure in my life?

The Rabbit Tarot - Knight of Cups, The Moon, Four of Cups, Nine of SwordsReading Summary: Don’t let the stagnancy (Four of Cups Rx) that can come from fear of the unknown (The Moon) or failure (Nine of Swords) keep you from going after those things that you think you’ll enjoy (Knight of Cups). [All the weighty obstacles are piled atop the Knight, and yet the Knight of Cups chooses to move away from them and focuses on his pleasure instead.]

Take Away: To cultivate a greater sense of adventure in your life, it’s necessary to let go of fears and anxieties that bread your nay-saying inner narrative.

Go boldly after what you enjoy instead of using things like responsibilities and obligations as excuses to hang back when in truth… that’s not why you’re hanging back at all.  Your hesitancy lies in fears and anxieties instead.

Daily Self Kindness

I took a handful of small breaks today.  It kind of made my small amount of orders draw out throughout the day, but I don’t feel so exhausted at the end of the day either, so it’s sort of a trade off, I think.
