Gideon’s Challenge

Yellow RoseLift Me Up

Happiness comes
and goes
like the flow
of waves
over sand
and sometimes
when the tide
is out
we forget
how sweet
a walk in the surf
can be.
I think I need
a little pick me up

🌑 New Moon in Capricorn – January 2024

Tomorrow is the new moon, and like all new moons and full moons, I did a spread aligned to the moon’s current themes as a part of my recognition of the moon’s cycle and influences upon us. Today’s spread is courtesy of Ethony.

New Moon in Capricorn Tarot Reading with the Tarot of the Enchanted Garden

Where do I need to stand strong?

Ace of Swords – In your communication with others. Speak up more about your needs, experiences, and ideas. Allow yourself to be heard.

How can I challenge myself in 2024?

The World atop The High Priestess – The sky is the limit and anything is possible this year in the area of your intuition’s development. Seek the completion of a journey instead of trying something new.

Where in my life requires more sensitivity?

The Hanged Man – Make sure that you are taking the time to see things from others perspectives instead of just your own. Also… be kinder to yourself. Remember that Gideon sees the Hanged Man as you… and you need sensitivity too.

What long-term goals or plans need my attention?

Six of Coins Rx – Reel it back on caring for others. You need to develop better balance in this area, and you cannot create that balance while over extending yourself in this area.

What is the next best practical step forward?

Knight of Cups atop Three of Coins – Be proactive about connecting with others and inviting them into your creative endeavors. You will get farther in the things you enjoy and want to accomplish if you let them join in instead of holding them at arms length.

New Moon advice from the Minoan Goddess Amalthea.

Six of Cups Rx – Don’t spend too much time lallygagging in nostalgia right now.

Counterbalancing Anxiety

Today’s meditation was skipped in deference to sleep and an appointment with my shrink.

Tarot of the North Atlantic Four of Shells, Four of Cups, and the It's Going to Be Okay 2024 Day-to-Day Calendar by Kate AllanToday’s draw is the Four of Cups, combined with the affirmation “How many times have you felt like things were out of control and then everything worked out fine? Your anxious feelings aren’t indicative of reality.”

Yesterday’s advice was good, but there’s still a lot of anxiety going on about the current slump in my business.  It can be hard not to let my imagination run away with me.

The Four of Cups often indicates meditation, and in this case that is absolutely what it’s encouraging. You need to take time to meditate and get your anxiety under control.  Letting it spiral does nothing but harm.

Philosophical Question for January 10th
: Is it true that pleasure is the root of all true evil?

Katrin Blackwater Tarot - Priestess of Wands, Queen of Wands, Daughter of Cups, Page of Cups, The TowerReading Summary: It’s an over-stimulation of motivation and drive (Queen of Wands) that has been misdirected (Page of Cups Rx) that is the catalyst to destruction (The Tower).

Take Away: So no, pleasure is not always the the route of true evil. Sometimes people are driven by other pursuits besides pleasure.  A demand for excellence, a moment of obsession.  It’s simply not always about pleasure, but can be about many things… or in some cases, nothing at all.

Daily Self Kindness

More napping and cuddles with Luna.  I wasn’t feeling all that well today. Worn out and worn down.  The nap seems to have helped a little bit, but not much.

RainforestThe Cling

I love your cling
like moss that creeps
over trees and ground
as you  grip tight
you nurture my soul
and give life
to the heart
of my life to you
with each tendril
of your soul
that clings so tight
and reminds me
each day
that I’m yours

Let Go of the What If

Today’s meditation was skipped in deference to more sleep again.

Tarot of Myths and Legends and It's Going to Be Okay 2024 Day-to-Day Calendar by Kate AllanToday’s draw is the Eight of Pentacles with the affirmation “Future you can handle their own problems. You handle today.”

I’m dealing with a lot of stress over the last few days concerning my business. It’s been… extraordinarily slow, and that always freaks me out.  More so when it’s so extreme as it is right now. I’ve never experienced a low like this, and it creates a lot of stress about the future of my business and a massive swirling vortex of “what if” thinking.

These cards are a reminder that all that what if thinking solves nothing.  Stressing over the future solves nothing.  Worry about today… tomorrow will take care of itself.

Question for January 9th
: How does this initiation set the tone for the journey ahead?

The Joyseeker Oracle - Manatee, Clouded Leopard, OkapiOkapi – It sets you upon a journey that is meant to fulfill your unique needs. Your journey ahead isn’t about people pleasing, but rather about getting in tune with your own needs and knowing yourself well enough to satisfy them instead of chasing your tail without getting anywhere.

Clouded Leopard – Being adaptable is one of your greatest strengths. It’s what helps you to survive the changing tides in life without as much struggle and strife. This card is a reminder of your ability to survive, no matter the obstacles in the way.

Manatee – More peace is needed in your life.  You have the opportunity at this time to do what  is needed to create that increased peace.  If you focus on promoting that in your life, you can create more of it as a result.

Question for January 9th
: What do you need to focus on for self-care for the upcoming new moon?

Tarot of Myths and Legends - The High Priestess, Eight of Pentacles, The TowerReading Summary: No catastrophizing (The Tower Rx) work related shit (Eight of Pentacles). Trust in the inner knowledge you hold and the secret gifts of your success that you’ve developed to guide you through (The High Priestess).

Take Away: You have your own way of doing things and it has served you well.  Instead of panicking over what’s going on with your business right now, look at those things you’ve done in the past that created for you the success you have built… dig deep  for the knowledge and practices needed to get through this difficult time without blowing it out of proportion.

Gideon’s Challenge

SwansThanks and Gratitude

So much of my life has been spent alone that sometimes I forget how wonderful it is to have community that cares about you.

Yesterday, someone pilfered one of my pictures from here on IG, and it was brought home to me again just how nice it is to have people who care about you and have your back.  People that will reach out and give you a heads up, and even reach out to stand up for you when shit goes awry.

Today’s Gideon’s Challenge isn’t a poem, but rather a sincere expression of gratitude to those around me that are so supportive.  I see you… and I am so very grateful for your presence in my life.
