Gideon’s Challenge

Butterflies
flutter
within my core
as your gaze
moves to rest
on me
and stays
and the surrender
within
awakens
to greet you
like the sun
greets the day
with warmth
and aglow
with eagerness

Worth the Sacrifice

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Forest Folklore TarotToday’s draw is the Four of Rings (Pentacles), which is traditionally a representation of stability and making grounded decisions pertaining to one’s health, home life, finances, resources, or manifestations. It can also be an indication of being miserly or valuing money or resources above all else.

The figure in this card does not look particularly thrilled with the wealth of golden rings she’s found among the leaves.  In fact, she looks a bit like she might want to cover them back up and forget that they are there.

Sometimes, stability is just too much.  Security can become too heavy.  Remember that it’s okay to cut loose now and then, even if it means you have to discard something of value to do so… because what you get from cutting loose can absolutely be worth the sacrifice.

Prompt for March 17th: A deck with a beautiful back in a fan.

Japaridze TarotThis is the Japaridze Tarot, which in my opinion, has one of the most lovely deck backs I’ve ever seen.

As a whole, I love this deck’s vibrancy and simplicity. The color scheme and design on the back also matches the artistry on the cards, so there’s no sudden unpleasant surprises when you’re pulling for yourself or a client.

Although I own many decks, and many of them have absolutely stunning backs… this is the one that first came to mind when I read this prompt, and so it’s the one that I decided to go with.

Take some time
to pause with me
and linger
at the water’s edge
watching
as clouds drift by
gilded with
silvery light
of the winter sun
as they
make shapes
for us to pick out
like a child
making faces
in a mirror

A Contagion Worth Catching

Today’s meditation was quite long, although I’m not entirely sure how long exactly.  However long it took them to get through the process of doing my CT scan, since I did my meditation while I was -in- the CT scanner today.

Chibi Tarot - Queen of WandsToday’s draw is the Queen of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s spirituality, interests, and passionate pursuits. Note that contrary to the greatly misunderstood use of the word “passionate”, this suit is probably not about sex unless you are a sex addict or possibly a sex worker. Rather, it is about those things that light a fire of inspiration within your soul and the Queen of the suit is the energy that fosters that spark in others and encourages it to grow.

The radiance of the sun behind the figure in this card is what catches my attention today, and speaks to me of the importance of sharing your inspiration with others.  Sometimes, just in sharing, you are supporting others in their creativity and passions, for like smiles… there are often times when inspiration is contagious.

Prompt for March 16th: Your ugliest deck.

Tabula Mundi in MinimaRight.  So I don’t really have a lot of ugly decks because a huge part of my collecting decks is the draw to the artwork and the beauty.  So why would I own an ugly deck.

I do, though!  Or well… I think it’s ugly.

Meet the Tabula Mundi in Minima. I got this deck at the glowing wax poetic of a friend who was certain I would love it… and, I so very much do not.  I’m not sure why I haven’t gotten rid of it as I’ve definitely considered it many, many times.  And yet?  It’s still here.

I went in for my CT scan today instead of keeping my appointment for the 29th.  They had an unexpected cancellation and called me this morning to tell me they could fit me in if I wanted to come in for it today.

The wind
pushes flakes
to fly by
as if we sit
in a moving car
instead of
at the kitchen nook
drinking tea
while we watch
the world
turn white
inch by inch
and imagine
we can hear
the soft patter
of snowflakes
as they land

The Burn of Ambition

Today’s meditation was skipped.

The Nigel Jackson Tarot - Queen of SwordsToday’s draw is the Queen of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, education, instinct, and communication. This is the energy of support and sharing through knowledge, experience, and advice. It is where ideas are fostered and encouraged.

The Queen of Swords is often seen as a sharp and gold energy, and although I see sharpness in this imagery, I do not see coldness.  Instead I see flames and fire.  I see someone that has become so focused on what they deem important that everything else including social niceties and politeness has been burned away.

Today’s card poses the question… where in your life have your ambitions and focus become so laser sharp that you’ve forgotten to cushion your words with kindness? Where do you need to ease  up on the pushing of others to reach their potential so that there is also room to encourage them to pursue their own joys and interests?

I skipped all the extra readings today to give myself a bit of a break, and will continue to do so for a few more days while I catch up on blog posts.
