Savor More and Ignore Less

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Deviant Moon Tarot - Queen of CupsToday’s draw is the Queen of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive (and often nurturing) alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, or intuition.

The queen’s cup overflows in this imagery, and she holds a hand beneath it to catch the drops, speaking of a need to savor one’s emotions… and not waste them. Bare feet show beneath her robes, in a show of vulnerability.  She is open and receptive to the world around her, and desires to feel every drop of emotion she can in life.

The imagery in today’s card asks us where it is we’re ignoring our emotions?  Where do we allow our guard to come up, and our emotions to be neglected?  What can we do to savor more and ignore less?

Questions for October 8th thru 10th – The Unbound

Wee William Witchling Tarot and The Happily Ever After DeckIn perfect love and in perfect trust, to love myself, this is a must:

Page of Scissors and Four of Spades – When to speak up, and when to stay quiet. A good communicator does both at the appropriate times. You often put yourself down for your communication skills, but it’s not always about the skills in speaking your mind in an approachable way that is lacking. You need to understand that it’s often just bad timing that trips yo up.

I embrace the self, my heart and mind, by nurturing this…

Four of Pennies and Seven of Spades – Honor and nurture your feelings of security and stability, including the protections and safety precautions that keep you safe from those that would steal that sense of security from you.

…this I will find:

Grandmother and Queen of Diamonds – You will feel stable enough to delve deeper into your spirit guide work, and allow the aspects involved with this work to grow and flourish.

Awaken now and be all things, what truth can my true nature bring?

Ten of Wands and Eight of Hearts – You have a habit of pushing yourself too hard. This is deeply ingrained in your nature, and will continue to take both work and conscious awareness to circumvent.

Question for October 8th
: What do you need to focus on for self-care for this upcoming full moon?

Deviant Moon Tarot - Five of Wands, Knight of Wands, Seven of CupsReading Summary: Choose your battles wisely (Five of Wands Rx) instead of flying off the handle (Knight of Wands) at every little thing (Seven of Cups).

Take Away: Make sure that you are acting with measured thought instead of just reacting to stimuli.

Your anxiety is up, and this means that you’re more likely and easily to be riled. When these emotions rise up, make sure that you take a moment to think things through before reacting.

It’s Not All Trash

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Murder of Crows Tarot Limited EditionToday’s draw is the Death card, which is traditionally a representation of organic change, gradual transitions, inevitably, and occasionally, loss.

What stands out to me the strongest in today’s card imagery is the bodies that are trampled under the beast’s hooves as the rider looks forward it out instead of down at what he’s doing.

Change requires letting things go, it’s true. It is a integral part of its make up. That doesn’t mean that we disrespect those things though, or that they are worthless.

Today’s card poses the question… What are you trampling underfoot in your efforts to keep up with the changes happening in your life? What are you tossing away that requires more gratitude, respect, or reverence? Are these things worthless just because they need be left behind? Do they possibly need more recognition?

: Creaky Hinge – What doors need opened to allow opportunity to enter?

Raven Cards OracleReading Summary: You cannot soar to your greatest heights (Top Left Card) if you are unwilling to let go of those things that weigh you down and cramp your freedom (Bottom Left Card). Lighten up and allow yourself to have a bit more fun and be a bit less serious now and then (Right Card).

Take Away: Too much of your life is spent being so very serious, when in actuality you would be better off, and far happier, if you loosened up a bit.   Don’t cling so hard to those things that need to be released, and look for opportunities to smile more and be a bit silly.

Question for October 7th – The Rule Of Three

Murder of Crows Tarot Limited Edition and Raven Cards OracleEver mind the rule of three, what I send forth {pick a card to represent what you want to focus on at this moment}..

The Feather – Community and connection. Making sure that you are not isolating, and that you are asking for help from others.

…comes back to me {draw three cards}.

The only alone time you should be indulging in should be of the healthy variety (The Hermit). Take your time making choices and consult with others instead of doing everything yourself (Two of Swords). Their perspectives are important, as is taking the time to mull things over a bit instead of being reactionary (Knight of Pentacles).

On the Right Foot

Today’s meditation was skipped because I fell asleep.

Tarot d' hYrtisToday’s draw is the Three of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of the first active step in a journey, progress towards a goal, and the seizing of opportunities.

To me, lipstick is a symbol of preparation. It’s that last little touch added the moment before you step through the door, step out in public, etc. The three colors represented here, therefore, are a question. They ask just exactly what is the right “last minute preparation” that is needed before you embark on your goals? How do you want to present yourself? Scattered? Deep? In charge? Sultry? Calming?

The first impressions we make stick with us in the minds of others. Although not always eternal, those first impressions nevertheless are an indication of how things will go forward from this moment of beginning.

Today’s card invites is to take a moment and consider what first impressions we want to make on others as we embark upon our path forward with them? What steps and small changes can we make to make sure that we start off that journey on the right foot?

Tarot NuagesWhere am I deluding myself?

The High Priestess and Four of Swords – That you can keep going at the pace that you are now through the holiday season and still get the recovery and rest you will need through that time.

You are going to have to pull back on a lot of spiritual practices over the last two months of the year. You may not want to, but something has to give during that time in order to make room for the necessary influx of responsibility.

How does my shadow keep me distracted?

King of Wands and The Hermit – Your shadow tries to convince you again and again that you can do everything yourself and don’t need to ask for help. This distracts you from the fact that getting to your goals is not a solitary activity, but something shared with others who support you and your dreams, just as you support them and theirs.

Skeleton – What secrets are you hiding that need exposed?

Tarot d' hYrtisReading Summary: Your friend’s troubles in their personal life (Six of Swords) are not something that you want to get involved in helping them plan for (Two of Wands), because you feel that at this time it would be too overwhelming for you and possibly your friendship as well (Ten of Wands).

Take Away: I’m used to being the support system for those close to me when shit falls apart in their lives (break ups, job changes, etc), but I can’t handle being a part of the planning of the “escape plan” right now. It’s just too much extra on my shoulders that I can’t handle at the moment. These cards are saying that I need to tell him as much.

Feeling Unprepared

Today’s meditation was skipped.

The Curio TarotToday’s draw is the Three of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of taking action towards one’s goals, progress upon a journey, and the seizing of opportunities.

The figure in this card is stationary, but prepared.  He hasn’t left the staffs that stand with him stand on their own, but instead has taken one up in preparation of stepping forward into the fray.

Today’s card asks… are you ready for what’s coming?  If not, what do you need to do to prepare?

In my case, the holiday rush is nearly upon us, and I am -not- ready yet.  Then again, I’m not sure even if I was fully ready that I’d know it and feel it as such. I’d probably still feel unprepared.  That said, today’s card encourages action so that these first steps on this journey go more smoothly.

Questions for October 5th

The Deep Dark & Dangerous OracleWhat am I resisting?

Charon and Werewolf – You are resisting the idea that you will have to put in more and get less back in return.

Well, yeah. Changing my CC company was a rude shock. My past plan was fixed rate on the interest. The new one is the lowest interest rate I could find that has the capability to be double what the last card was (it fluctuates).

Why?

Shadow and Dragon – It’s in my past experiences (specifically with poverty) that the drive lies to be miserly. What’s mine is mine is mine… and in giving away what’s mine there is a stirring of scarcity issues. This is true even tho my circumstances have changed and I am no longer in that place of poverty anymore.

A Show of Compassion

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Skele-TarotToday’s draw is the Strength card, which is traditionally a representation of inner strength, persuasion usually through means of compassion, influence and/or manipulation, and courage.

“Smoothing the feathers” of others.

That’s where this card takes me today.  When we care about others, sometimes smoothing their feathers and helping them to ease up, calm down, or see things in a different light is important.

Sometimes it’s important to do this for those around those we care for as well, in order to help things go smoothly, or protect those we care about, or just to make sure that people aren’t trespassing over set boundaries.

Today’s card is are minder that this task isn’t a bad thing, nor a chore that one should dread needing to deal with.  It’s a show of love and care.  A show of compassion and strength.

Six of Wands and The Fall – Remember that looking to others for validation and approval is folly and can lead to your downfall.

The imagery on this particular Justice card makes me think of that saying about letting someone “live rent free in your head”, and that the greatest punishment that we can dole out to those that have wronged us is to forget about them entirely

Take Away: Stability is a need that has been deeply rooted and established in you for a long time, and the road to get there is hard and long.  You trust your ancestors that guide you to have your best interests at heart, and to help you in the journey that will give you that stability you need.

Questions for October 2nd and 4th

The Poe Tarot and Le Tarot de Marseille par Pole KaWhat behaviors by others trigger me the most?

Page of Quills – The Know It All is someone that gains a modicum of knowledge and gets a resulting inflated ego. Otherwise known as the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Wheel of Fortune – The Risk Taker is someone that is careless of the affect their actions and behavior have on those around them. This usually leads to what they consider (if acknowledged at all) as collateral damage.

Three of Quills – The Pity Partier is someone that chooses to wallow and lament in their misery rather than do anything about it. Even when others reach out to help, they are stubbornly rigid in their refusal to budge.

How are these triggers helping me grow?

The Know It All – King of Coins – They remind you that true expertise takes time and practice. It is more than reading a book or being good at something, but also involves grounding one’s knowledge in experience and repetition.

The Risk Taker – Five of Wands – They allow you to observe their behavior and how their behavior influences (and often damages) those around them, so that you don’t make the same mistakes.

The Pity Partier – Queen of Wands – They show you how important “fighting the good fight” really is, and are a lesson in fostering your own passions and motivations so you don’t fall into the same behavior.

I insisted that the men that came to light the fireplace continue to work at it long after they’d wanted to give up.  I’m the last unit in the building on the gas line, and it takes a long time for the air to bleed up out of the lines before I’ll finally get the gas needed to light the pilot light. Usually the workers try a few times then insist I have to get someone in to do an inspection and repair.  This time I forced them to wait and keep trying, and eventually the lines cleared and it lit fine.
