Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Fairy Land Tarot's Justice Card and a card from The Oracle of the Soul Healing Messenger Cards

Today’s draw is the Justice card, which is traditionally a representation of balance, cause and effect, repercussions and consequences, give and take, and can often indicate the law or legal system.

The Justice card has then been combined with the Challenge card from The Oracle of the Soul Healing Messenger Cards, which says, “Being adaptable and flexible can help you respond better to challenges and take advantage of new opportunities.”

What goes up must come down. It’s the rule of our lives on this earthly plane not only in the area of physics, but in the cycles of life as well. There will be good times and bad times. There will be easier times and harder ones. As they say, the only true constancy in life is change.

Along that theme, it’s a natural part of life that our actions have consequences, and those consequences have consequences; like the ripples caused by dropping a stone in a lake, the consequences reach further than we realize, influencing far more than we know. In return other people’s consequences create ripples that influence us as well, and most of the time we don’t even realize it’s happening.

This constant shifting of elements, which is the nature of life itself, requires flexibility. We can’t always know exactly what the consequences to our actions will be. We need to be ready for there to be a surprise now and then. Nor can we know what the consequences of other people’s actions might have upon us from time to time, and we need to be ready to bend or adjust to those as well.

The message in today’s Justice card and affirmation is a reminder that stagnancy is not healthy and fighting against change helps no one. It’s far more healthier and more productive to pivot, adjust, and seek to guide changes in the direction we want them to go than it is to fight against them or brace for impact.

Refinement – What detail needs my attention right now?

King of Lilypads and Kalanchoe

He appreciates the little things. Your love needs your attention. Not in the long visits and longer play sessions, but in the little moments when you check in just to check in, or send a picture of something you liked just because. These little morsels feed his heart and help him feel like all is right in the world.

Care – What small act of care would help me feel more grounded?

Four of Lilypads and Chinese Peony

Go easy on yourself. Stop playing the blame game with yourself as the scapegoat and piling burden after burden on your own shoulders. Reject unnecessary responsibilities to give yourself some time to just enjoy life instead.

Mercury enters Virgo – What mental clutter needs sorting?

Seven of Twigs and Climbing Rose

You’ve done a lot of digital reorganizing lately. It would be good idea to have it written down somewhere what changes were made and why. Remember that even your struggles are valuable, and your memory isn’t that good all on its own.

Something I want to let go of before a new season begins

The Moon and Eight of Pentacles

I’m not sure if this is so much about letting go as it is about adjusting my approach and coping. There’s a lot of uncertainty in my artistic business right now, and it’s creating not just instability but a lot of stewing on the subject of directions and where I want to go from here.

Although letting go of all that uncertainty would be amazing, I’m not sure that’s possible. It -is- possible to reconsider how I react to and deal with those feelings of uncertainty, though.

A way I want to show up better for the people I love

The Sun and Queen of Swords

I want to be someone that helps those I love capture and enjoy the joy in their lives, not the naysayer that brings everyone down. There is a lighter and brighter side to the Queen of Swords that I can embody without losing my more grounded self in the process. A focus on these energies will help me better embody that spirit.

Self Care For the Nurturer

Today’s meditation was a ten minute long #DailyCalm session from the @Calm app.

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

The Yellow House Tarot's Empress Card and The Oracle of the Soul Healing Messenger Cards

Today’s draw is The Empress card, which is traditionally a representation of a nurturing energy of strength and empowerment without losing that “softer side” in the process, abundance, fertility, the divine feminine, and Mother Earth.

The Empress card has then been combined with the Heart card from The Oracle of the Soul Healing Messenger, which says, “…pause and reflect on your state of mind, identify the inner conflicts, and listen to your inner voice. By doing so you can reconnect with your relationship needs, comprehend your underlying desires, and determine what your heart truly seeks.”

It’s important to remember that nurturing is about more than just caring for those things and people outside yourself. When we look at the Empress card, sometimes that nurturing energy isn’t about other people or things, but about taking care of ourselves as well.

After all, if our own cup has run dry, then we have no water to offer to anyone else in need. Thus, taking care of ourselves is in itself another faucet of taking care of others.

The message in today’s Empress card and affirmation is a reminder that your relationships and your connections with others depend on taking care of yourself. It’s not just about taking care of everyone else. It can’t be, because if you’re not taking care of yourself, then you will have nothing left with which to take care of others, and that care of others will then suffer as a result.

Settling – What insight is settling into place in my mind?

Strike a Match – “Sometimes, the best way to discover what’s ahead is to take that first step and see things in a whole new light.”

Discomfort and uncertainty aren’t necessarily a bad thing if you choose to look at them as opportunities to expand on your understanding of others in the world around you, rather than something standing in your way or potentially harmful to you or what’s important to you.

This new fear and discomfort with uncertainty isn’t something that you’ve always experienced. It’s something that has risen within you in response to now having things in your life that you value and don’t want to lose.

These new fearful reactions to uncertainty put these things of value at risk more so than your previous devil may care approach back when you had nothing to lose.

Mars square Neptune, Mercury trine Saturn, Venus sextile Jupiter
What disciplined step will support my long-term goals?

Meditation – “Sometimes, doing nothing and allowing yourself to recharge is exactly what your mind and body need.”

More consistency in your meditation practice is needed. It’s a mere ten minutes a day, and there is absolutely no reason you cannot spare these ten minutes of doing absolutely nothing. Ten minutes that are just for yourself and nothing else.

You can spare this much time for yourself each day. Putting it off and skipping your sessions is a concession towards your self harming and self sabotage tendencies. It’s not even an emotional response, nor is it a logical one. Don’t give into these tendencies so easily.

How can I act on this with courage and clarity?

Becoming – “… you’re allowed to take things at your own pace and in time your true colors will shine.”

Pay attention to the benefits that doing your meditation practice on a regular and consistent basis provide for you. Usually, when you see these benefits, it triggers, your self sabotage tendencies. Instead, allow yourself to see these developments and benefits as the first step to something that might become something even more remarkable. They are the first results, not the end results. Be curious about what comes after these first results appear.

What unresolved angst is my inner adolescent still holding onto?

Four of Swords and Echinacea

The inability to rest and regroup without guilt getting in the way.

You were condition for a young age to reject the need for rest and recovery. Instead, you were required to always be doing something. It could be that you were laid up and couldn’t move, but you could read, and thus you studied. Regardless, rest and recuperation on its own was never an acceptable use of your time.

Today, as an adult, you still feel guilt when you take time to rest and regroup. This guilt triggers the angst in your inner adolescent, for one of the things they wanted most was just to rest and relax once in a while without constantly being pushed to do something more with their time.

How can I help my inner adolescent to let go of their unresolved angst?

The Hierophant and Mullein

When that angst flares to life, remind your inner adolescent that you are working on learning how to care for yourself as you need to be cared for, and at eradicating the legacy of abuse you inherited.

Point out all the times in which you choose to treat yourself kindly, and encourage them to see that you are working on resolving this issue and not letting it become a systemic expectation throughout the rest of your life.

Egyptian Tarot - King of Swords

Today’s draw is the King of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a projective “alpha” energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, education, ambitions, and communication. This often translates into themes that have to do with someone that has a way with words and is able to use those skills to lead others to their way of thinking, as well as those that are in authority on intellectual topics such as professors, doctors, etc.

The King of Swords has then been combined with the Vision card from The Oracle of the Soul Healing Messenger Cards, which says, “Break free from traditional thinking and embrace, open-mindedness and inclusivity. Explore different angles, gain deeper insights, and understand complex issues comprehensively.”

Yesterday we had a (brief) visitor to the Tarotholics server on Discord that had me thinking about the closed-mindedness of hatred. This person’s particular hatred was Christianity, and to be even more specific… Christians.

Now to be clear, I am not a Christian. I have never been a Christian, and I have very minimal experience and exposure to that religion compared to most of the North American population. Regardless of this fact, I know that there are good Christians out there, just as I know that there are bad ones. I know that not all Christians believe homosexuality is wrong, or that being trans is wrong, or are hypocrites about right and wrong in general.

This person did not know this apparently, or had closed themselves off from listening to and understanding these things. They were rude and abusive to Christians in the same way that bad actors in Christianity are to Pagans and individuals of other ideologies.

How is this okay? In my opinion? It isn’t, of course. They were removed from the server for their abusive rhetoric. But, it got me to thinking about hate, and how hate closes us off.

The message in today’s King of Swords and affirmation card is a reminder that hatred makes people look stupid and closed minded. It makes people unable to see beyond the narrow scope of their own perspective. Hatred isn’t progress, it isn’t strength, it doesn’t heal, and it isn’t cool looking or tough looking. It’s ugly and isolating, and diminishes one’s potential and power. It’s self abuse even as it fosters the potential for also doling out abuse on others. These cards remind us to look at any hate we harbor closely and seek out understanding instead of closing oneself of. Don’t generalize… dig deeper instead.

Mercury enters Leo – What truth do I need to passionately express?

Eight of Wands Rx atop The Star; Freeze Up Moon

When I am forced to go slow and bide my time, I worry I will lose the opportunity to grow things in the direction I want them to go. Hope does not feel like enough to sustain me during these moments.

A large part of the reason I tend to feel the urge to move quickly and decisively on those things and opportunities that matter to me is the fear that if I don’t, they will be taken away from me.

I’m not sure I’ve passionately expressed this truth, but it’s open and honest, and clearly needed to be out in the open.

Venus trine Pluto, Venus opposite Neptune – What deep desire is coming up for me?

Temperance; Rest and Cleansing Moon

You want to spend time with others, but on your own terms and doing those things that you want to do and enjoy. You would be far more enthusiastic about spending time with others if it could be about you once in a while, instead of always focused on everybody else’s needs and wants. You want those that you know love and care about you to try putting you first now and then, instead of always expecting you to put -them- first.

: What can I do to help my inner child feel more protected?

Tarot Reading with the Egyptian Tarot

Reading Summary: Offer an olive branch (Queen of Pentacles), but don’t expect it to be quickly or easily accepted (The Hermit Rx). Take your time and practice patience with them (Eight of Wands Rx).

Take Away: You’re inner child has a lot of defense mechanisms in place in an effort to protect themselves not just from the world at large, but from you as well. [Don’t try to protest, you know that negative inner narrative, not to mention the self abuse, punishment, neglect, and self-sabotage tendencies of yours are a thing. They have every right and reason to be wary.]

Offering acceptance and security will help them let you past these defenses to feel safe with you, but only if you’re willing to take it slow and have patience with the time it takes… regardless of how long that is or how incremental movement is in response to your efforts.
