A seagull’s view
from rooftop’s ledge
watching sun
sink
behind clouds
and set
the sky ablaze
in rich tones
while ships
are called home
and birds settle
to roost
for the night
It’s time to return
to frigid waters
chilled
through glacial melt
and slip within
the cold embrace
that stings the skin
and takes the breath
to float
under radiant sun
and allow time
to flow
soft and lazy
over the senses
A coating of
insulation
warm and soft
holding in the
wet and warmth
under lush embrace
verdant and alive
a comforting blanket
covering everything
as the tread of boots
allows exploration
and adventure
among
a green world
full of life
Summer colors
fade
as spring flowers
sigh out
their last breath
and begin
to let go
making way
for earthy shades
of changing leaves
soon to come
set the world
ablaze
A blanket spread
beneath the
chestnut tree
on a lazy day
spent stretched
and comfortable
beneath a dense
canopy
of green
Lie with me
to listen
to the sweet call
of birds
and quiet whisper
of leaves rustling
“How deep?”
she asks
as she considers
the swim.
But why
does it matter
when it’s not
the depth
but how far
you have to go
to reach shore?
Don’t worry.
You can’t drown
if you know
how to float
