where trash collects
discarded
along with
well loved
lost puppies

and clouds roll in
with drizzles
of rain
that kiss the skin
a world
washed clean
by showers
from above
and once more
the air smells crisp
with moisture
and the scents
that I love

filling the senses
with too much
at once
as they bid goodbye
to the bees and bugs
and welcome
autumn
with open arms

A desire to drift
quiet and still
as sweet silence
brushes senses
with not so much
as a whisper
and gentle currents
caress as they carry
lazy form

from tight bud
to kiss the sky
exposing
vibrant color
to lure in
visitors
and as flowers sway
in summer breeze
they spread
joy
and celebration
to all

I want to swim
to numb the toes
and dive right in
where frigid cold
slides over skin
in frigid embrace
that nips and bites
while I float
under blue skies
and currents turn
me in its grasp
as crisp fresh air
fills lungs
with every gasp
