Every time
I’m on my balcony
I’m reminded of you
as a little
stubborn face
peeks out at me
through
clinging moss
and scales of lichen
and my lips
curve up into a grin
as I give the
concrete shell
a fond little pat.

Autumn
slips to
winter cold
and
wet clings
to everything
but even now
beauty holds
all rapt
in its
embrace.
The transition from fall to winter is a slow one in this part of the world, filled with a nip in the air and cold rains, vibrant leaves and emerging green as evergreens overtake autumn shades.
