Weekly Creativity Prompt – The Chariot

Prompt: “Pull the Death card from your deck(s). Compare the imagery between the card provided below and the card(s) from your own deck(s). How would you read them differently and why?

Modern Love Tarot - The ChariotModern Love Tarot – Relaxed and confident, the figure walks down the street with her two pups, and makes it clear that no matter the hurdles she will find a way to make things work for her so she can do what she wants (after all, just look at that rig the little chihuahua is set up with).  This card is the epitome of “where there’s a will, there’s a way” mentality, and encourages us to think outside the box in order to adapt life to our needs rather than always adapting ourselves to the world around us.

The Chariot Card - Magic Planet Tarot, Mushroom Hunter's Tarot, Lonely Dreamer Tarot

Magic Planet Tarot – Look at the tip of the chin in the figure on this card.  There’s stubbornness there, and a hint of arrogance.  He knows where he’s going and exactly how he’s going to get there. Sometimes? Arrogance and stubbornness is what is needed to get you where you want to go. Be sure to apply as needed when reaching towards your goals.

Mushroom Hunter’s Tarot – The shaggy mane mushroom is a hardy one, able to push through even the hardest of barriers to find its way to freedom, including concrete.  This card and the mushroom chosen to be depicted upon it are a reminder that you have the willpower and determination to plow through the obstacles that try to get in your way.  You’re stronger than you think you are.

Lonely Dreamer Tarot – Those are some big ass horses, and a very small man in comparison, and yet the figure pulls the horses back from the ledge.  Autonomy is an important factor in this card.  No matter how strong the current that pulls you forward in life, if you’re not going in the direction you want to go, you need to remember that it is in your power to turn… pivot… and redirect yourself in another direction.  Don’t allow yourself to just go along for the ride.  Speak up.  Seize the reigns.  Take control and steer yourself away from that cliff’s edge you’re being pulled towards.

Finding the Positive for September 16 – 18

Taisho Roman Tarot, Cats Rule the Earth Tarot, Lonely Dreamer Tarot, and Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal Cards

September 16

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was focused on the message in today’s cards, which is…

Queen of Swords – “Your struggle is not an indication of failure”, it is a valuable learning experience to help you guide others later on down the road. When you experience hardships, you are better able to help others through their own.  This is not you failing, but rather it is you becoming a stronger, better, more understanding human being. Without struggle and hardship there can be no growth, and without growth you cannot help others from a stable place of trust and understanding.

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was focused on the message in today’s cards, which is…

Five of Wands – I don’t see a lot of conflict in this particular Five of Wands (which is usually what the Five of Wands is all about), but what I do see is a determination to stand up  for what you believe in, even if it means being solitary in your endeavors.  Today’s cards are a reminder that not everything can be a group effort, and it’s not the end of the world if you and those important to you aren’t copacetic on every aspect of life.  Variety is just as important as common ground, so don’t write off friendships or family just because they believe differently than you do.  Instead, hold your own beliefs close, and accept that they do the same for theirs.

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was focused on the message in today’s cards, which is…

Listen to Gideon.

Praise from Gideon

Nine of Pentacles – Take stock of all that you’ve done and how hard you’ve worked. Look at what you’ve accomplished. Don’t spend so much time focusing on what you didn’t manage to do and what still needs to be done that you miss out on praising yourself for the monumental amount of stuff you have.

Weekly Creativity Prompt – The Sun

Prompt: “Pull the card from your deck(s) that matches the card posted below. Compare the imagery between the card provided below and the card(s) from your own decks). How would you read them differently and why?”

Tarot of the Hidden Realm - The Sun CardTarot of the Hidden Realm – Children touch upon an innocence that is often depicted in the Sun card in tarot, and here we see two that play together, a flower in full bloom and abundance of green giving an impression of success that is about happiness and the butterfly above their heads lends a carefree atmosphere to time spent together.  This card speaks of happiness being about those you spend time with and the joy found in abundance, camaraderie, and sharing rather than monetary values.

The Sun Card - Lonely Dreamer Tarot, Förhäxa Tarot, Autumn Miss Tarot

The Lonely Dreamer Tarot – Here in the imagery of this card that is a serenity provided in the pool of water the figure stands in and the reflection of her form upon its surface.  The pool is calm and smooth, and the form of the woman graceful as the sun overhead turns the water into pure gold. The imagery in this card speaks to me of success in its many forms.  Not everything has to be about excitement, optimism, and positivity. Sometimes it’s in our most calm and serene moments where we discover true value in ourselves and the world around us.

Förhäxa Tarot – In this imagery, an angel appears to reap energy from a forest fire’s blaze below.  This speaks to me of there being no energy ever wasted.  Even forest fires have their purpose, and that energy is not wasted either. There is mystery here, but also hope.  Strength, too.  This card says that failures are not always failures at all, but rather a plan that is simply beyond our ken put into action.  It encourages, optimism and asks us to reject pessimistic viewpoints for a more positive perspective.

Autumn Miss Tarot – This card’s imagery is the closest to the traditional RWS imagery, and it speaks to me not of fun… not of joy or of peace (for who in their right mind can be peaceful, optimistic, and joyful when riding a horse while without paints?)  Instead, it speaks to me of success earned through tenacity and hard work, and the celebration of that success (as seen in the flying of the red banner the figure holds and the clenched fist of the other hand).

Morning Bonus Read – September

Lonely Dreamer Tarot 2nd Edition - September Tarot Reading

What is the energy surrounding you this September?

Gradual change (Death) while taking care to remain seated and keep your emotional growth as the focus (Nine of Cups).

Although the holiday rush is on its way, it’s not here yet and I need to remain focused on settling into the emotional growth that I’ve made this year for the month of September, processing how far I’ve come and where I’m at now before diving into preparation for the holiday rush.

Small changes can be made along the way this month, but I need to make sure I don’t dive right in too early as it could damage the progress that I’ve made in my emotional growth.

What needs letting go from the previous months?

Shadow –  I’ve done a great deal of shadow work this year. But, it’s time to put that away now that fall is approaching. September allows me some time of adjustment to the things that I’ve learned, so that I can move forward with purpose as the season moves closer and closer to the holiday rush to come.

If I don’t let it go, it will make things more difficult in the months ahead.

As the seasons change, how can you best apply your focus toward your goals?

King of Swords – Have a plan, and stay focused. I know what I want, and I know it’s going to be a rough journey. Just stay focused on those ambitions and goals, and it’ll be fine.

How can you best bring more abundance in to your life?

Seven of Wands – Make sure to stay strongly rooted and connected with my moral compass and what I know to be right and wrong. Make good choices and don’t let others lead me astray with their contrasting values and their own goals

I was given advice recently that went against not just what I know to be right for me, but also against what my guides have been advising me on for months.

For a moment, because it spoke to my old habits and tendencies, I actually entertained it in my mind. I’m not sure if this is because it came from an external source, or because it was a temptation of old unhealthy behavior that would be so easy to fall back into.

That advice, of course, was it discarded… As it should’ve been. But this is a good reminder to be careful of repeats in the months ahead.

What influence will provide positive change this month?

King of Wands – It’s mine.  My goals, my passions. My desire, drive, and ambitions. Take the reins and set the pace. Remember that, in life and especially in the business, I am the captain of the ship. Be sure to delegate where needed to keep things running smoothly.

Message from Spirits and Guides.

Page of Swords – Learning a new path and new methods to achieve your goals can often be confusing. It’s okay to feel like you’re fumbling around in the dark sometimes… everybody does once in a while.

Celebrating Accomplishments

Today’s meditation was not done… because they were testing the fire alarms in my building today and if I can’t meditate through some nutbag on the street singing about herself being a prophet of God, I sure as hell can’t meditate through the fire alarm going off every 2 minutes for hours on end.  At least not and actually find the meditation peaceful and positive instead of an exercise in frustration.

Botan Tarot - The WorldToday’s draw is the World card. This is the final card in the Major Arcana, which means that (as with all Major Arcana cards) it deals with an overall message or life path situation rather than a single aspect of the human experience. Traditionally, the World card is a representation of coming to the end of a long journey, and the crossing over from all that you have learned and gathered through that journey into a new existence and new journey on the other side of things.  It is a recognition of accomplishment, rebirth, and reincarnation.

What I see in the imagery of today’s card is more than just recognition of this transition, but a joyous celebration of it.

The message in today’s card is that it’s important to celebrate your accomplishments.  When you reach the end of a journey, take a moment to enjoy having made it to where you’re at, and a moment to look back on all that you have accomplished.  Let go of the negative, and dance yourself forward into the future with optimism and an eagerness for the next adventure to come.

Question
: What will keep me motivated to evolve spiritually?

Telluric Tarot

Reading Summary: Determination to move forward (The Chariot) regardless of the fact that inner demons may try to stand in the way (Nine of Swords) of my enjoyment of the journey (The Fool). Fear of the unknown (The Moon) is the only thing that keeps me from enjoying a piece of that child like joy (Six of Cups).

Take Away: The motivation indicated in these cards is twofold.  First is to tap into the formidable amount of determination and willpower that I possess to move forward regardless of the nay-saying that my inner dialogue may occasionally come up with.  The second motivation is the reward of moving forward.  It’s about focusing on the prize and allowing that prize (in this case, joy and pleasure along my spiritual path) to motivate me into continuing forward even at the times when I’m feeling uncertain and fearful.

: Grab a spread of your choice that you’ve been curious about but haven’t tried yet… and give it a go!

Lonely Dreamer Tarot

Has this ancestor tried to communicate with me before?
Nine of Swords and Ten of Cups

Yes, in times of worry and stress they have come to me under different guises in an effort to bolster me emotionally.

What wisdom can be learned from this ancestor?
Four of Wands and Temperance

Balance and stability in my life and upon my path through the use of moderation.

How can this wisdom be applied moving forward?
The World

What do you want to carry forward? And what do you want to leave behind? If I want to apply these lessons and wisdom moving forward, it’s important to take time to examine these things and make choices that encourage growth and development into a better person.

A message from this ancestor about what I’m not seeing.
Judgement

I am not paying enough attention to just how much damage my negative inner narrative and it’s harsh judgements are hurting me.  It’s time to really examine this issue and recognize the unhealthy vulnerability it creates within me.

How can I honor this ancestor?
Two of Swords

Open your eyes and pay attention.  They are willing to help in my making of good decisions and choices, but they aren’t willing to hold my hand for it. I have to be open to seeing and fully grasping what’s going on, and willing to make the hard decisions when they come.

A message of love from this ancestor.
The Magician

You are strong and powerful and have everything you need, only you need to be willing to utilize it.

Question
: What do I leave behind moving past September?

20th Century Tarot

Reading Summary: I’m leaving behind the ability to sit on my laurels (Nine of Cups) and just have a good time (The Sun) and take things slow and easy (Knight of Pentacles Rx) with no drive or push behind me (The Chariot Rx).

Take Away: The slower pace and relaxation of the summer has all been well and good, and very nice.  But it’s time to pick myself up by my bootstraps and get my ass moving on the shit that needs to be done.

Be a Hero, Not a Villain

IMG_6396Today’s meditation was just over ten minutes long, and was another guided meditation with interval timer.  I’ve decided that the guided meditations definitely have a place in my meditation practice.  Although the non-guided meditations are nice, these guided ones sometimes allow me to relax a bit more fully and can assist in keeping my mind from wandering.

The also give me a little something to think about now and then.  Not that they are all gems, but there are definitely a few diamonds in the mix.

Today’s message was about choosing your battles.  There are things you can change, and things that you can’t change.  The moral of the story for today’s guided meditation was to make sure that you are choosing the battles you have a chance of winning… instead of railing uselessly against the rain.

Botan Tarot - Five of SwordsToday’s draw is is the Five of Swords, which is a representation of tests, trials, and conflict in the area of one’s mind, intellect, and communication. This often comes into play in the form of disagreements, arguments, misunderstandings, and debates.

What stands out to me in this card today is the look on that pheasant’s face.  I mean I know that pheasants can’t really show expressions but he sure is looking pretty damned cocky, yeah?  Cocky to the extend that it actually appears a bit snide to me.

That’s the thing about winning tho, right?  Sometimes when you win? It’s hard not to look back with that snide moment of triumph. It can be hard not to kick’em when they’re down.

The message here is that when that opportunity arises?  Rise above it. You’re better than that.

Question
: What’s one of my super powers?

English Magic Tarot

Reading Summary: Learning what makes people tick and how to motivate them (Page of Swords) helps me build on my emotional knowledge (Page of Cups) and grow into a better person (Queen of Cups)… Even if that growth is somewhat slow in the making (Page of Coins into King of Cups).

Take Away:  Although emotions are not my strong suit, my ability to reason through people’s reactions is. Using this ability in a way allows me an entry point into understanding both my own emotions as well as other’s… which in turn assists me in my own growth.

: The Problem / The Lesson to Learn / Advice to Help You Through

Art Nouveau Tarot c 1989The ProblemEight of Cups – Giving up too quickly or feeling the desire to walk away too easily and too soon. This is bred from my need to step aside when I become irritated or frustrated. Especially in the area of people.

The Lesson to LearnThe Fool Rx – Grow up.  It can’t always be about you and what you want.  Sometimes you have to do shit just because it’s the responsible thing to do, whether you like it or not.

Advice to Help You ThroughTen of Cups – It’s important to remember just how ‘well off’ you are in your own life and appreciate that.  It gives you the luxury to behave in the ways written above without a lot of consequence, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a consequence on the other side of the table where a person’s cup is perhaps not as full as your own.

Take Away – I need to be more patient and understanding of others.  Not everyone can motivate as quickly as I can, or think as fast as I can, or come up with the right words as quickly as I can.  Instead of getting impatient and cranky, I need to make sure I’m practicing patience and understanding, and keep in mind that not everyone is as fortunate as I am.

Question
: How am I asked to deal with areas in my life that currently feel like too much of a grind?

20th Century Tarot

Reading Summary: Suck it up buttercup (Five of Cups) and get your ass in gear (Eight of Wands). Just make sure you’re practicing moderation (Temperance) and making good decisions (Two of Swords).

Take Away: The thing is?  Whether it feels like a grind or not?  You can’t put off and avoid these things forever.  They’re a part of life and sooner or later you have to suck it up and do them.  That’s just a part of being an adult.   So is making sure that when you do them, you don’t overdo it and send yourself into burn out.   Making good decisions about how you work and when is  just as important as the work itself that needs to be done.

Question: What can I do about the fear of being wrong?

Lonely Dreamer Tarot

Reading Summary:  Explore more (Page of Wands) and accept that sometimes it’s going to happen (Five of Pentacles).  Learn from it (Knight of Swords).

Take Away:  You need to use these as opportunities to further your education and knowledge instead of hurdles in your way.  Being wrong can suck and feel really bad, but that doesn’t mean it’s something to fear or avoid.  Instead it’s an opportunity for growth, as long as you’re willing to take it that way.
