A splash of color
among all the green
is what you called them
that day on our walk.
Patient perfect
as I paused to take
yet another picture
and another.

It always amazes me how patient you are with me, even when whatever I’m doing isn’t really your personal forte or interest.  You linger anyway and watch.  You show interest and you indulge.  Your adoration shows in every breath you take and every word you speak.  Your adoration is… breathtaking.

Faerie House in the MossGifts

Little trinkets
sparkly things
lots of sugar
and shiny bits.
Honey cakes
and mossy spots
just don’t leave
the lemon drops.

Although they are not incorporated into my spellcraft or a part of my ritual, the Fae are a part of my path and the liminal spaces of the forest a place where I connect most strongly with those energies. That said, I often have Fae energy at home as well, and I leave gifts and offerings for them all of the time, providing them with trinkets and bauble traps to play with and sweets to taste.

I set boundaries and respect theirs in turn. I treat them as friends and equals, brothers and sisters, and cherish their presence and influences.  Because of this, I’ve never had a problem with them… well, other than a bit of tug of war concerning boundaries now and then.   The Fae are a gift, my relationship with them a treasure. It seems only right I should offer them gifts in turn.

Lilac BudsQuality Time

It’s like
drops of water
in a bucket.
A minute here,
an hour there,
each moment
adding to another
and another.
Over time
we build a life
together
overflowing
with love.

Quality time doesn’t always come in large chunks of hours on end spent together. In fact, it rarely ever comes in that form. Instead, the truth about love is that quality time comes a little bit at a time, a moment here and a few seconds there, an hour here and a few minutes there.  This is how love develops.  This is how love grows.  This is how you fill a life to the brim with love. You sprinkle it throughout until love eventually becomes the whole of it.

ComfortComfort

Come
slip into the water
with me
into a cool embrace.
Let the nymphs
pull you deeper
with me
as embracing waves
caress.

I find comfort within water.  Floating within it’s caressing embrace, I can close my eyes and allow everything… absolutely everything… to just drift away.  Where the forest is my grounding and my center, water is the conduit to my freedom and greatest moments of peace.

IMG_4607Lips

So many
precious things
slip from your lips.
Sweet nothings
and fuck babble,
sage advice
and curious questions.
It is, though
the words you speak
with love in your heart
and sacrifice on your sleeve
that always
stand out the most.

I love you, man.  There are times when I’ve needed time outside that I know that you wanted to be selfish and say “No, stay here with me” and yet instead you say “you need to go for a hike”.  This is a sacrifice given that demonstrates the depth of your love.  A sacrifice of time spent with you so that I can instead lose myself among the damp green embrace of the forest trails.  You sacrifice what you hold precious to you, sacrificing your own need, in order to give me the self care I need.

Those words from your lips?  Are a testament to your love as no kiss ever could be.

Gideon’s Challenge

KnowledgeKnowledge

It is not straightforward
nor organized
It is tangled
and multifaceted.
Complex.
It must be untangled
just to be understood.
In combing out the strands
we find the each one
a treasure
to be added to our own
Pandora’s Box.

When we learn, it is a form of organization.  We take a jumble of information and we organize it into our minds in a way that creates its own sense.  Its own interconnections and meanings.   This is how knowledge is created, by the obtaining the tangled soruces of information and the de-tangling of those strands as we suss out meaning… and absorb it as our own.
