Longing
The heart aches
as eyes gaze
to horizons
far away
and long for
moss draped
branches
and spongy ground
covered in
pine needles
and
evergreen fronds
fragrant
in the moist air

Longing
The heart aches
as eyes gaze
to horizons
far away
and long for
moss draped
branches
and spongy ground
covered in
pine needles
and
evergreen fronds
fragrant
in the moist air

Breathless
Hard rocks
scrape
beneath
boot treads
as the climb
takes us
further
from the sea
and closer
to the
peaked tips
of green giants
standing sentinal
in the sun

Morning Dew
Tiny worlds
full of life
with dew drops
and green
as damp soil
wood and moss
welcome
a new day
and another
raindrop
to glisten upon
saw toothed bits

Not Enough
It feels like
every day
the gas tank
is empty
again
and we’re
looking for change
between sofa cushions
for a mile or two
more
before it’s
empty
once again

Tension
Muscles flexed
without realization
tight and aching
but unacknowledged
until they
start to scream
and realization
comes
that a deep breath
is needed
slow in
and slow out
then again
to help the knots
let go

Comforted
A little cuddle
a tight
close hug
with softness
squished
in close
to the chest
familiar scents
in unfamiliar places
help wakefulness
drift
into sleep
as inner knots
release
