and attention

touched only
by him
then exhale
as tension
is let go

fill the air

with salt

as each step

just out
of reach

the brine

Feather soft fringe
like caterpillar fluff
but softer
and less treacherous
invites moments
of quiet pause
and promises
a nap upon
the softest pillow
you’ll ever know
if you accept
the invitation

Beautiful
jeweled tones
concealed
beneath
bone white
only seen
when seagulls
come
to crack open
the seams
and steal away
what resides
within
Groggy
Early morning light
a splash
of golden white
upon bleary eyes
unable to focus
first thing
make the risk
of stubbed toes
and bruised shins
climb
until cold water
splashed
on the face
brings everything
into focus
