Play On… Rain Clouds Be Damned

Today’s meditation was skipped.

The Real Rosie the Riveters of WWII TarotToday’s draw is the Nine of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of solitary satisfaction, a job well done, self-sufficiency, abundance, and success at work or in finance.

Here in this card’s imagery I see themes to do with self-sufficiency and pride in a job well done. There’s focus and control in the woman’s hands and gaze as she works, supporting a clear theme in these areas that carries over into my own life and the pride I take in my own work.

Yes. Hiccups happen.  I had a few of them this weekend, in fact.  All of which were detrimental to my business and out of my control.  And yet, today’s card is a reminder that even when hurdles and obstacles stand in your way, you need to make sure to acknowledge and appreciate how far you’ve come and what you’ve learned along the way. Your successes and accomplishments matter and shouldn’t be disregarded just because life decides cast some storm clouds your way.

Question: Let’s pare down my focus to what really needs my attention at this time.

Audubon & Animal Bones Postcard Set and Abstract Art TarotStop worrying about all the piddly ass little things (too many scattered butterflies), and instead focus on who you want to become (Judgement / Social Justice and how the flames in this card correspond to the central one of butterflies through color in the anchor card). It’s time to seize control and get yourself back on track in this area (Emperor).

In the echo of shape and theme between the balloons in the Queen of Brushes and the anchor card there is indication that this doesn’t have to be a heavy process. There’s nothing studious or particularly hard about it, you just need to welcome back in that nonconformity within your soul (burning flag and spray painted anarchy sign), and let it flourish and stretch its wings (back to the copious amounts of butterflies in the anchor card).

Questions for June 12th

The Real Rosie the Riveters of WWII TarotI am grateful for…

The Magician and The Tower – …my ability to take the chaotically destructive moments in my life and turn them into learning experiences that then benefit me in some way in the future.

This ability to seek out and gather the boon from negative experiences helps me turn the negative experiences in my life around into something positive. It doesn’t destroy the negative, but gives a different aspect and a way to appreciate that the experience was necessary for me to become who I am and be where I am in life.

And this helps…

King of Pentacles and Nine of Cups – … me to not just stay on top of my responsibilities, but also assist others along the way, all while remaining contented and happy with my lot in life in general.

Daily Self Kindness

Ugh.  Well, I tried to advocate for myself with Etsy about something they did in my account while I was locked out.  It didn’t go to well, but at least I tried.  I think my self kindness, though, was in finally just letting it go after the customer service chat was over instead of continuing to stew over it.

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Abstract Art Tarot, Yoru No Sumi-E, Shadowlands Lenormand

EarthAce of Buckets and Trust – Stay positive and trust everything is going to be okay.

AirWorld atop Five of Brushes, Hope – Be gentle with your negative internal narrative and inner critic. The way forward isn’t with viciousness and cruelty, but by tapping into positivity and optimism.

WaterTemperance atop Chariot, Void – Do not pretend that the pit isn’t there. It is. At this time, ignoring where you’re going and what’s ahead of you instead of dealing with it is going to end in falling into the void.

FireThree of Brushes atop Eight of Buckets Rx, Death – Don’t discount what others can do for you right now as you go through these changes outlined in this reading. They’re able to add brightness and color to days that are looking increasingly drab of late.

WaningMice and Snake – Don’t ignore the corrosion or it’s going to bite you in the ass.

WaxingSun and Mountain – Use proactive methods and optimism to battle this hurdle before you.

Take Away – Okay. As the week has gone on I have gotten more and more warnings from the cards about depression slipping up on me, and that I’ve been ignoring its approach. This reading is the most blatant warning of them all so far.

I’ve decided that I’m going to up my meds like I did before, starting tomorrow. Two weeks wasn’t enough time last time, so this time I’m going to do it for a month and hope that it can help me bypass, or at least mitigate, the depressive episode that I can feel coming but didn’t want to acknowledge.

The Time and Place

Today’s meditation was skipped because it felt really good in bed in the “afterglow” of the pain med I took before going to sleep.  Usually when I wake up I’m in so much pain that it’s a relief to get out of the bed.  It was nice to feel so comfortable that I could snuggle in and enjoy it for a little longer.

Abstract Art TarotToday’s draw is the Temperance card, which is traditionally a representation of moderation, balance, and the qualities of patience and moderation.  It can often contain within it elements of the divine, and in the connection we hold with the divine and with the world around us.

The imagery in this card speaks to me of moderation… having a place and time.  It’s like anything else, and there is a time and place for it’s use… and a time and place where it’s use is not going to get you what you want.  I see that in the single paintball shot to the heart.  The angel wears kevlar and there’s no way a shot to the heart would succeed.  A double tap.  A triple?  That wouldn’t work either.  At least not when aiming at the heart.

Like that shot, moderation is only effective if used properly.  Otherwise? It’s just the birth of stagnation.

Question
: What do you need to focus on for self-care during this new moon?

Bonefire TarotThe World atop The Devil – Make sure that you’re looking at the big picture and where you want to go when confronted with the temptations of your addiction. What’s the point in giving into those temptations if it’s not furthering you in the direction you want to go in and getting you closer to the end goal?

Knight of Wands atop King of Cups – Dive into time with Gideon and let it sweep you away. Tangle yourself up in in the things that you enjoy together.

Nine of Cups – Don’t allow restlessness and discontent to sneak in and poison the waters right now.  Look at all you have and have accomplished.  You’re allowed to feel happy about these things.

Question
: What does love mean to me?

Abstract Art TarotReading Summary: Happiness at home (4 of Brushes) is where long-standing trust is built over time (7 of Stencils), then of course there’s always the connection between you and the one that you love (2 of Buckets) and the support and dominance that he offers (Papa of Buckets).

Take Away: This is different depending on where it comes from, but in both the scenarios mentioned above, the prevailing theme is trust.  Trust that my emotions are accepted and cherished.  Trust that they won’t be used against me, but will be used instead to build something strong and secure between me and those I love.

Today, for my readings, I used the decks that Gideon surprised me with for Christmas.  It made me feel happy to have him with me in this part of my life, just as he is integrated in so much of the rest of my life as well.
