and vibrates
as tires run
over asphalt
and the wind
causes branches
to sway
as you walk
high above it all
and look down
upon water
in paradise hues
and evergreens
cast long shadows
over the surface

to rough bark
until secret words
are seen
in that liminal space

what the eye can see

and the scar
remains
always present
but it’s your claim
at the throat
that makes it all
