Breath Taking

Take a moment
to slide down
to ass on damp log
and let air
flow in
and out
as you catch
your breath
and stare up
through draping
bits of green
to watch
the golden glow
of day’s end
begin to fade

A gift of vibrancy
and bright cheer
sits on the table
very near
and every day
upon my waking
they say hello
and ease the aching
of darkness’ reach
and chronic pain
when sunny flowers
say hello again

Self care comes
in many forms
with yogurt
made with real fruit
and no additives
with vitamins
for nutrition
with advice given
in the sweet whisper
spirit guide’s voices
through imagery
on paper cards
and uplifting
messages
within the glow
of soft morning light

Silk on skin
brushes light
gentle
the swell of lips
followed
by warm exhale
and flesh tightens
flushing in hues
of pink
eagerly anticipating
the next touch
and the skim
of another breath
more

Beautiful
and breathless
she sits and waits
with bated breath

eager whisper
running through
her mind

Tossed in the Bag

Pack the toothpaste
and toothbrush
the emollient bar
and the comb
an extra pair
of underwear
and an earbud
for your ear
are absolutely
essential
but above it all
don’t forget
