Finding the Positive for December 13 & 15

Vintage Christmas Tarot's Three of Cups, and Pixie's Whisper Tarot Christmas Edition's Eight of Wands

December 13 – Mental Health Card of the Day

Today’s meditation was an eleven minute long #DailyCalm session from the @Calm app.

The session talked about the correlation between gluggavedur (window weather in Icelandic) and how we can deal with our more intense emotions. That is, by observing our inner storms in the same way we would observe a storm raging outside while sitting safe and warm inside. By viewing our emotional state in this manner, we are able to view our emotions more objectively. This allows us to observe strong emotions as they arrive and subside, processing them and acknowledging them without getting caught up in them.

The @GlitterbyInk #DecemberDays25 Beyond the Solstice Challenge
The Archetype Prompt for December 13
: Tender
Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Three of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of friendships, revelry, celebration, and collaboration between those that are linked or alike not just in mind but also in heart.

Vulnerabilities make us close ourselves away.  It’s a natural defense mechanism to protect ourselves from being hurt when we’re feeling at our most vulnerable, and I am absolutely guilty of this.

The thing is? When we’re feeling tender and vulnerable, that is the time when we should be reaching out to others that we trust to provide us support.  Not doing so forces us to deal with these feelings alone, and that in turn causes those feelings to be compounded by that sense of alone-ness.

The message in today’s card and prompt combination is a reminder that our support system is there to support us. That means when you need support?  That’s when you need to make sure you are reaching out to them.  Let them step in and help you carry the weight of your vulnerabilities, and you may find that their support is not just healing, but helps you find your footing again just a bit faster as well.

The @GlitterbyInk #DecemberDays25 Beyond the Solstice Challenge
The Archetype Prompt for December 15
: Serene
Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Eight of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of action, speed, alacrity, fast paced events or change, or having a target goal in your sights that you are charging towards.

Sometimes you just have to light a fire under your ass and get things done.

Relaxation and taking your time is all well and good as long as you’re able to jump forward and do what needs done now and then. Especially if you fall behind on certain things, it can be important to be able to move quickly and with focus in order to keep everything on track.

The message in today’s card and prompt combo is that it’s absolutely possible to carry those moments of serenity from the quiet, peaceful times into these moments when you need to hop to it and get stuff done. That inner calm does not have to be disrupted just because you need to move a little bit quicker and do a little bit more. Today’s card encourages us to work on retaining that peace and calm, even during moments of activity.

Finding the Positive for December 19 – 21

These Card of the Day readings are a mental health exercise (suggested by my shrink) used to help counterbalance my natural tendency toward pessimism, negative inner narratives, and depression. The request posed to the cards is, “A positive message to carry with me throughout my day and foster perspective.”

Nine of Swords – “A bad day doesn’t mean a bad life. Tomorrow will be different.” Anxiety is high today, and not just for you. There was a lot of sniping and bickering today, of tense moments and irritations, sharp words and sharper glances. The stress is getting the best of you… and others as well.  It’s made everyone a bit on edge.

Remember that this is not an every day thing. It’s a “today” thing.  It doesn’t have to carry over beyond today, and everyone will be in a place better suited to smoothing ruffled feathers and settling back into the status quo tomorrow.

December 20

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Nine of Swords – “You’re still making progress, even on your worst days.”  Don’t let the worries and fears of failure cause you to throw away your progress or disregard your accomplishments. Even when those fears might be valid, they haven’t come to fruition. They’re in your head, and are a product of your pessimistic mindset.   Set those negative worries aside and instead work to encourage yourself through acknowledging each of your successes, no matter how small.

December 21

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Knight of Swords – “Close your eyes and slowly take a deep breath.” It’s the last moment before the holiday rush comes to a close.  It’s time to start slowing down, even though you still feel amped up and like there are a million things to do.  Take that deep breath… and then do it again.  Let these small moments of pause to breathe help ease your energy down from the “go go go” and active strategizing you’ve been doing for the past six weeks.

Three of Cups – “Here’s  friendly reminder that the negative voice in your head is not you; you are actually completely delightful.” It has been pointed out to me that I’ve been being a serious ass lately. It was meant as a joke, but the ring of truth in it hit me in the face.  I’d asked someone close to me to pick up after themselves before going to bed last night, with the warning if I came out into the living room in the morning to find the dirty dishes still in the livingroom, I was going to be extremely upset.  They retorted back that I’m always upset, so what’s the difference?

The thing is?  It was said in a good-natured, teasing manner but… they were also right. I’ve been letting my fears and worries, as well as my inner criticism and cruel prodding of my inner narratives, get to me.  And, it’s showing.  It’s showing in how I interact with others.

Today’s card speaks of making sure to be are aware of these types of issues, encourages working harder not to listen to that negativity that holiday stress causes to rise up from within, and take care of how it comes out in interactions with others.

Two of Pentacles – “Stop calling yourself garbage. You are a shimmering star. You are amazing!” Just because you might be struggling a bit with finding your balance right now doesn’t mean that you suck at it or are failing.  Balance is hard. Just because it seems like it should be simple and easy doesn’t mean that it is.  Just because you’re struggling doesn’t mean you suck.

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Two of Swords – “You will rise above the ashes. You will find a way to become whole again.” Like so many others this year, your profit is down compared to years past, regardless of what the talking heads say about the “economy” having recovered. This kind of thing means you are going to have to make some hard decisions… but it doesn’t mean that this is the end of the line. You will make those decisions, and you will adapt to keep going, just as you have always done during hard times.

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Vintage Christmas Tarot and Season of the Witch Yule Oracle

EarthJudgement – Don’t lose sight of the fact that this journey through the holiday rush may be short, but we’re looking at a longer picture as a whole.

AirSix of Swords atop Two of Cups – This week is the transition out of the holiday rush into the lull that comes after. Make sure that you are leaning into those closest to you that you care about to help you through the change, and it will help you keep your head on straight.

WaterPage of Pentacles – Do what you can to make sure that the slow down at the end of the week doesn’t mess with your emotions. Remember that slow progress is still progress, and look to the Two of Cups above for advice on how to handle the disruption this shift in gears may cause.

FireFive of Pentacles Rx – Don’t panic and remember you are not destitute. When income slows down, scarcity issues, become a problem. Be aware of this, and work to mitigate your anxiety in this area.

WaningOfferings – As the week goes on there will be less going out. Don’t strive to keep pushing out more than you’re able… Instead, take this time to rest and find your balance.

WaxingRemembering – Towards the end of the week he will be visiting with family and then going to stay with Miss B for a few days. There are people lost in this household that will be remembered and mourned while you are there. Be sure to partake in these memories, as well as support others during this time.

Take Away – These cards are announcing the end of the holiday rush, and then transition that comes with that end. Things are going to slow down drastically over the next few days and by the end of the week it will be time to take some time off to spend with family and loved ones. Make sure that you are making efforts to cherish this time, instead of distracted and struggling under the shift of pace.

🌕 Full Moon in Gemini – December 2022

Tomorrow is the full moon, and like all new moons and full moons, I did a spread aligned to the moon’s current themes as a part of my recognition of the moon’s cycle and influences upon us. Today’s spread is about the medicine within, and brought to you by Ethony‘s Tarot by the Moon series.

Full Moon in Gemini Tarot Reading with the Vintage Christmas Tarot

Where am I deluding myself?

Five of Swords – There is a price that must be paid for success and accomplishment.  You cannot expect to go full speed ahead and not feel the consequences of lack of rest.

What am I missing?

The World – Everything.  At this time you are so focused upon your work that there is very little outside of that venue that is able to catch your attention.  You are missing the joy of the holidays, the lives of those around you, even the observance of your own needs to an extent.  Right now, at this time in your life, there’s no room to see any of these things… and you are missing them all.

What perceptions need to be shifted?

Ten of Cups – You need to remember what makes you emotionally happy and reach for those things and people that can touch upon your emotions and keep them thriving and satisfied, even when the rest of your world is a chaos of rushing and deadlines.

What requires further investigation?

Six of Swords – What isn’t working for you and needs to be left behind?  It’s hard to focus on these things during the holiday season, but perhaps this is the best time to be examining them… as you can see in the moment what needs to change and what transformations you can apply to make things better moving forward.

What possibilities are ready to show themselves?

Three of Wands atop Seven of Cups Rx – There have been a lot of different goals and routes forward lain out before you over the past year.  Here we see that all of these myriad of possibilities are being narrowed down to just one. One path forward.  You have the opportunity to condense and focus right now, and align everything to move together in the same direction while shedding what isn’t needed.

Full Moon advice from the Minoan Goddess Amalthea.

Two of Swords – Kindness is important, even when you are so busy you can barely breathe. It is a choice.  A choice that takes no extra time, and no extra effort to give than sharp words and actions.  Make sure you are making choices that are good for both you and others in how you communicate with them.  Your words can sometimes be too sharp.

Cherishing What Is Before You

Today’s meditation was just about ten minutes long, and was just me and my breathing exercises along with some piriformis stretching.

Vintage Christmas TarotToday’s draw is the Four of Pentacles, which is traditionally about stability and gratitude (sometimes to excess, which can turn miserly) for what you have. This is a stagnant sort of appreciation that speaks of not reaching for more, but instead being focused on what you have in the now.

After running around all day yesterday getting things done, today is a day of rest. There is no plan to go anywhere or do much other than some chores around the house.

The imagery in this card is about family and the reminder here in the Four of Pentacles today is to appreciate this time with those dear to your heart. The message here is not to worry so much about what’s coming in the future, and instead be present in this day and this time with loved ones.

Mr Lionharts’ #TheDecemberTarot The Path Ahead Tarot Challenge Prompt

 Yule Oracle

See Only With LoveRibbon (Elegance, Formality, Exclusivity) – Take tie this season to try to see your mother in another light. Changing her isn’t in the cards and she sees nothing wrong with her behavior, but you have the opportunity to shift your perspective and find a view that allows you to find peace with her and put to rest expectations you can’t possibly have fulfilled by her.

Speak With Love – Candy Cane (Sweetness, Strong Foundations, Drawing In Love) – Make sure that you are expressing to those around you how you feel about them.  Only the good, though. Focus on the good and let the irritations and other issues go for now.  Use this tie for bonding and pulling those who matter close instead.

Listen With Love – Ornament (Wishes, Ancestors, Beauty) – Now that the holiday rush is over it’s time to open yourself back up to messages from your ancestors and the guidance that they can provide you. Open your heart and your intuition, and allow them to help guidie you toward those things you really want in life.

Mind Boundaries – Bells (Purification, Warding Off Evil, Clarity) – Make sure that you are paying attention to the energy that others are directing your way, and deflecting the negative. Don’t ignore it and think that it will go away on its own, instead deflect and cleanse that negativity out immediately.

Be Kind – Pomegranate (Beauty, Fertility, Promises) – When you take the time to be kind over this season, it will be reciprocated in turn.  Like a smile creates another smie and thus spreads smiles onward through the world, kindness can also travel and spread in the same way, and in turn make the world a better place a little at a time.

Know Your Power – Hot Chocolate (Sympathy, Nourishment, Comfort) – You have the ability to provide comfort and nurturing to those around you with your grounded presence and energy. By spending time with those that are mourning their loss this year, you are giving them more than sympathy, but also support and a greater sense of stability that is currently lacking in their lives.

Be Balanced – Caramel Popcorn (Hiding the Truth, Irresponsibility, Material World) – Don’t allow the addictions that were getting out of hand prior to the holiday rush to step back in and progress as they had been.  The rush has given you a chance to renegotiate the tightness of those chains and find a better fit. Keep with that.

Honor Your Word – Elf (Assistance, Workmanship, Secrecy) – There are a few things from earlier this month that you need to get done now that the holiday rush is at an end.  Readings that need done, specifically.  Make sure over the next week you reach out to these people to get these promises taken care of.

Blessed Be – Christmas Tree (Abundance, Life, Immortality) – Don’t worry about the future right now.  It is bright and beautiful, and filled with promise. Focusing on the what-if scenarios and worrying won’t solve anything and will only hold you back. Focus on the good instead.

OwlandBonesTarot’s #DecemberBones2021 Tarot Challenge Prompt

Vintage Christmas Tarot and Seasons of the Witch Yule OracleNaughty King of Cups – Gideon is my personal King of Cups, and as such this card is encouraging spending some… naughty time with Gideon soon. We have been planning some pirates period-piece type roleplay for after the holidays and I have absolutely no doubt that naughty is sure to fill many of those hours.

NiceThe Sun – This is a reminder to look towards the light.  Have fun. Work on keeping an optimistic view as we move through the few weeks ahead.  The end of the holiday rush has a habit of dumping you into a bit of a drop, and the reminder here is that to couneract that effect, you need to work at staying positive.  It’s not going to happen on its own.

ClarifierMerriment – Have fun! Both during your time with Gideon and on your own as well. Look for the joy and enjoyment in every little thing.  Stay focused on the fun so that the drag of the slump that the end of the holiday rush creates doesn’t pull you under.

Daily Self Kindness

Although I brought work along with me on this trip, I haven’t touched it. Not even today when we stayed home all day and relaxed.
