Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

The Westwood Tarot - Five of Pentacles

Today’s draw is the Five of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of tests, trials, struggles, and setbacks in the area of one’s finances, resources, health, home, work, or manifestations. This often translates into themes that have to do with scarcity and times in life when one needs to seek out help from others instead of suffering through alone.

The Five of Pentacles has then been combined with a card from the Affirmators! Evening Mantras deck, which says, “Letting go is the only thing that matters. In letting go – of thoughts, emotions, anxiety, shame spirals – I claim my freedom and make space for what I want to call in.”

Letting go of a sense of scarcity is one of my biggest challenges in life. I struggle with these feelings, even when things are going well… and when they’re not going well, these feelings explode into a near panic of worry and anxiety, dread of eminent failure and harsh self-recriminations.

I do my best to not let that anxiety take control and cause me to act out at myself in reaction. It’s not always easy though. Even when I know I’m overreacting, or that the scarcity I fear isn’t at my doorstep as I think it is in those moments.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that emotions like to try and screw around with our perception of reality. Just because you feel something doesn’t mean that that’s what’s actually going on. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t feel these emotions, but it does mean that we need to be aware of this tendency so that we act accordingly instead of allowing these emotions to seize control.

Tarot Reading with The Gold Star Tarot and The Nature Oracle

Attention: What part of me needs gentle attention?

Crow and Three of Wands – The part of you that is feeling abused by your inner narrative’s insistence that you should be moving instead of stuck.

It’s important to keep in mind that not all the factors involved are under your control right now. Cut yourself a little slack and remember that you’re doing what you can as you are able; and that’s enough.

Sun conjunct Saturn, Sun sextile Pluto: What personal power am I ready to step into?

Four of Pentacles and Land Guardian – You feel at your best when things are steady and stable beneath your feet.

Don’t forget that you can encourage that feeling to flourish within you by getting out in nature and spending time with the trees and moss. It doesn’t change anything in your life as a whole or the situation, but it changes your perspective to one of greater stability, allowing for less anxiety and stress. These influences can help you in dealing with the issues currently before you, as well as the moments of powerlessness that you’re feeling by not being able to control all aspects of the situation.

Philosophical Question for March 25th
: Is courage an inherent virtue or is it learned behavior?

Tarot Reading with The Westwood Tarot

Reading Summary: When we are young (Six of Cups), we don’t see things the same way that we do as an adult (Eight of Swords). We take action without considering consequences. This is not courage, but rather it’s a lack of moderation and forethought (Temperance).

Take Away: Courage comes later in life after we have learned how to think things through before doing them.

Prior to that, those things that we as adults perceived as courage are actually simply impulse and lack of thinking things through. This is because there is no such thing as courage without an acknowledgement of the risk being taken and the consequences involved.

This would indicate that courage is therefore not an inherent virtue, but rather something that has learned along the way. We might learn this earlier or later in life, depending upon our upbringing and experiences along the way, but in the end, it’s not something we are just born with from the start.

Making Life Miserable

Goblin Tarot Pips Edition - The Chariot Card

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is The Chariot card, which is traditionally a representation of control, willpower, determination, and the strength of purpose to “take the reins” and steer yourself in the path you wish to follow.

The Chariot card has then been combined with one of the Alice’s Flowers Oracle cards, which says, “You can do it like a steam train or you can do it like you love you, and would want to wrap yourself so gently in the tenderest love. Steam train rides can be fun for sure!… but don’t forget to be very sweet to you.”

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our determination, or so focused on our end goal, that we forget that self-care is important. Everything breaks down if you don’t take care of yourself. Not just physically and mentally, but everything you’re working for as well.

When you treat yourself gently and give yourself the self-care that you need… and that includes the rest that you need when you need it, the likelihood of your success greatly improves. So does the likelihood of you being able to enjoy it once you’ve achieved what you’re aiming for.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that no matter how important what you’re doing is, or how much you push yourself or others push you to get things done, you still need rest and care. Don’t forsake yourself and your needs for future goals. In the end, this kind of behavior just slows you down and makes life miserable.

Trauma Recovery Oracle Reading with the Wyrd Oracle

If I could live in any place in the world where would it be?

Thought Prompts: Regret, Pensive, Advice

I have often dreamed of visiting Finland and Norway, wanting to explore the amazing forests and nature that they have in that part of the world.

I’m not entirely sure, though, if this is just me wanting to run away from the stress in my life to somewhere that is very similar to where I live now, or an actual true desire to see these forests for myself and connect with the nature there.

I have a feeling that I pretty much live just where I want to live if I were to choose anywhere in the world to be. I just regret settling in a city instead of closer to the forests I love. I suppose I still could… but it seems an awfully expensive endeavor when I can easily drive there from where I am now.

What does my “dream day” look like from morning to night?

Thought Prompts: Eclipse, Withdrawal, Acceptance Moonstruck, Folly, Denial

My “dream day” looks like alone time of the healthy variety that allows me to enjoy nature to its fullest from the rise of the sun in the morning to the rise of the moon in the night.

Camping would be lovely. Camping alone, that is. (I’m not a fan of camping with other people.) This, of course, holds a great deal of danger and risk for me these days, and it’s something I am no longer doing due to the risks outweighing the benefits and pressure of my desire.

It’s just not safe (due to circumstances beyond my control), no matter how much I would love to withdraw from society for a bit, get lost in the woods, and just stay there for the day… or week… or month.

What colors, music, or smells make me feel happiest?

Thought Prompts: Reassurance, Calm, Detachment

The scents of forest and sea connecting, and the music of nature. My favorite place on earth is the Hoh Rainforest and La Push area. Here the colors are rich in greens and blues, grays and browns; earthy and cool. Waves whisper over beaches filled with sand and stone and drift logs, while moss and lichen hang from fragrant evergreen trees, and the forest floor is in a constant state of growth and decay.

It’s wet and ancient, and these sensory experiences are a large part of why I am happiest there.

If my heart had a theme song right now, (what would it be?)

Thought Prompts: Wait, Paralyzed, Powerless

Bother by Stonesour

Keep in mind that I’m still struggling with subdrop and craving some more of “the drown” in a desire to force it away.

What’s something I’ve always loved-since I was little?

Thought Prompts: Self-Sufficiency, Contentment, Smugness

My independence and my ability to know myself and what I want, no matter what others may say about it.

Tarot Reading with Goblin Tarot Pips Edition

How are you doing spiritually at this time?

Ace of Wands; Wheel of Fortune atop Temperance Rx – You’re starting to feel a new spark of inspiration, and thus struggling with the moderation needed to keep things moving smoothly.

It’s really difficult for you to keep yourself from over-burdening yourself with responsibilities when you feel a spark of energy that can be utilized.

It’s hard to acknowledge that you can’t do all the things you want to do with that little spark, and have to “leave space” for the unexpected to come in and trip you up.

How can you improve on this in the week ahead?

The Hermit atop Sux of Wands Rx; Nine of Cups – Remember that it’s better to be alone than to people please for people that don’t matter. Your happiness does not depend on their opinions. Use that spark of energy selfishly for you rather than allowing someone else to monopolize it or take it from you entirely.

The Greater Secrets Tarot - The Lovers card

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is The Lovers card, which is traditionally a representation of love and relationships, long term contracts, harmonious unions, and making choices that are geared toward what is best for you.

Has then been combined with a card from the Affirmators! Morning Mantras deck, which says, “Kindness is magic. So today I’m gonna make like a drunken wizard and cast ‘Friendium to Strangerus!’ spells all over the place.”

How many friends do we really need in our lives?

This brings to mind for me something that a true friend (that has since sadly passed on) taught me years and years ago. He said that the word “friend” is a cherished and sacred title that should not be handed out willy-nilly to everyone. Instead, most people fall into the “acquaintance” category.

You can have general acquaintances, trusted acquaintances, and all different kinds of acquaintances. None of these adjectives attached to the word “acquaintance” make this person a friend.

Furthermore, naming these people as acquaintances instead of friends does not negate their importance to you in your life. It’s just that the “friend” title should be reserved for those in your life that you would help hide a dead body if they needed it. It holds within it an unconditional quality that is usually related to (and sought after in) romantic love.

With this in mind, how many friends do we really need? I think under this context, as long as we have at least one, we’re doing better than most of the population.

The message in today’s cards is to encourage us to look at our relationships with other people through a more practical lens, and be discerning with who you let into your closest circle.

The Aries Season Spread
By @onyerbroom

Aries Season Oracle Reading with The Shaman's Oracle

Frustration rising?

Shaman of Foresight – You are not used to being unable to see where things are going in life. The ability to predict trajectories, as well as surprise deviations within those trajectories, is a lifelong skill that you are used to practicing regularly. Unfortunately, at this moment in your life, there are a lot of things going on that you are unable to get a grip on the trajectory concerning and predict with accuracy.

Confidence needed?

Spirit of Challenge atop Dancer of Friendship – Lean into support that is offered by your friends and loved ones when you are feeling challenged by life. These moments of unpredictability and challenge make life feel as if it is far more difficult than it has to be. You can gain more confidence by leaning into your friendships for not just measurable support in the physical sense, but also emotional support and encouragement.

Impatience showing?

Dancer of Inspiration – You’ve been struggling under a lack of creative inspiration lately, and you are starting to display a good deal of impatience with yourself concerning this issue. Remember that stagnancy causes rust and decay… if you want inspiration to spark, then movement is needed.

Action calling?

Shaman of Song – You can’t dance without music. Make sure that you are communicating with those that can encourage you to do things instead of languishing. Their encouragement has the ability to guide you to a healthier place within yourself.

This doesn’t necessarily mean they have to push you to do the things that they want to do, but accept that they are doing their best to get you moving… which is the first step in creating the spark of enthusiasm.

Direction now?

Spirit of Destruction – The cards above are encouraging a change towards movement in order to spark enthusiasm, confidence, and motion that will help you move forward instead of sitting stagnant. If you do not take this advice and continue upon your current path, more in your life is going to fall apart, and you will continue to struggle with drowning in the mire of your inaction.

Tarot Reading with The Greater Secrets Tarot

What parts of my personality have I put on the back burner?

The Tower and Three of Swords – Your pessimistic attitude and inner narratives; or, at least you’re trying to put this on the back burner.

You’ve always had a tendency to be very pessimistic and see the worst in any situation, as well as have an idea where these situations might go that could make the situation even worse. In this way, you’ve always somewhat protected yourself from disappointment by anticipating the worst to come from the start.

Over the last few years you have been working towards establishing a greater sense of hope and optimism into your life. It’s not easy, but you’re working on it. This process involves setting pessimism and negativity to the back in order to allow yourself to focus on your more positive efforts.

What interests have I put on the back burner?

The High Priestess and Knight of Swords – Practicality has really taken the wheel of late, perhaps to the point where it’s a bit out of control. This means that you’re not listening as closely to your intuition as you could be lately, because you’ve been prioritizing reason and logic over that inner whisper.

As the Self-Care Saturday reading for this week mentioned, perhaps now is a good time to change this and begin to once more start leaning into your intuition, setting the logic and reason side of things on the back burner, reducing it’s position in the hierarchy of priorities.

The Gay Marseille Tarot - The Empress Card

Today’s draw is The Empress card, which is traditionally a representation of a nurturing energy of strength and empowerment without losing that “softer side” in the process, abundance, fertility, the divine feminine, and Mother Earth.

The Empress has then been combined with an affirmation from the Pass Around The Smile Positive Guidance Cards, which says, “Choose. You choose how you feel, react, and perceive everything in your life. Choose to only see through love and positivity.”

That is, essentially what this Card of the Day exercise is all about. Positivity and optimism. Seeing life through a lighter lens than the one pessimism puts in front of my gaze every single day.

I may not be able to change the glasses entirely to completely see life in another perspective, but I can at least help lighten things a little bit so that enjoying life isn’t quite as much of a struggle.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that it is love and laughter that provides us with the greatest and healthiest possible positive influences we can tap into. Remember to add these things to your life wherever you can, and it will help you lighten up the darkness just a little bit each day.

: Do the Interrobang Spring Spread

Welcome Spring Tarot Reading with the Ronda Tarot

This spread goes from bottom to top. We begin in the underground, with death and decay.

Death/Passage: What died for me in the past season?

Two of Cups – You don’t feel like you’re getting the help, support, and connection that you need from those around you, and you’re not sure if this is because you’re not giving what you need to in order to get what you need, or if something else has somehow changed the flow between you and others which is now hindering things.

Decay/Fertilizer: How does that passage fertilize what comes next?

The Hierophant – It opens up the opportunity for you to examine more closely how things have always been, and consider if you are being too rigid and there are changes that need to be made.

Next, we consider the perennial, and turn our attention to any old growth due to renew.

The Perennial (Rebirth/Renewal): What renews or rekindles for me now?

The Moon – Spring always brings with it a certain level of uncertainty. This is because business slows down at this time of year. Add to that the extra amount of uncertainty currently going on with your business and career path, and it’s no surprise that you are feeling fearful and jumping at shadows at this time.

To Tend & Cultivate: How can I best greet and tend to it?

Two of Swords Rx – It’s not about getting rid of your fear and uncertainty, but rather sitting with it and allowing it to linger so that you can understand it more before making decisions on where to go from here and what actions need to come next.

Finally, we look above ground to consider the annuals, the unplanted seeds, and our garden plans.

The Annual (New Growth/Seed): What do I plant next or start afresh?

Eight of Pentacles – Don’t allow these feelings of uncertainty to cause you to doubt your long-developed skills and abilities. Remember that some things are just simply not within your control, no matter how much you want them to be.

To Plot & Plan: How can I best prepare to make sure that it thrives?

Ace of Pentacles – Try new things, and keep an eye out for opportunities for growth. Remember that the Hierophant (above) said that you may need to shake things up a bit.

It’s all well and good to listen to their opinions, and take into consideration their beliefs and ideas. Just make sure to forge forth and allow yourself to find your own way, as you always have before.

Context: “Weekend warriors” of the cultural appropriation variety freak me the fuck out.

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Self Care Saturday Oracle Reading with the Таро Оракул Полнолуния

EarthIdleness – Take care that the moments you spend in idleness are of the healthy variety. If there is something else you could be doing that would make you feel better, you should be doing that instead. Actively make choices this week to do the things that make you feel better, rather than just wallowing in how you feel now.

AirFire – In choosing those things that invigorate you and light you up (as suggested in the Earth position of this reading), you create a spark of life that can burn away the mental fog you’ve been experiencing and allow for greater clarity.

WaterEasy – Loosen up. It’s okay to feel your feelings, and it’s okay to let others see you feel your feelings. Even when you can’t explain them or fully understand these emotions yourself, give them room to exist without expectation or requirements.

FireThe Earth – Practicality is required this week. No pie in the sky expectations allowed.

WaningHeart and Rider – Remember that allowing your emotions to show is not the same thing as wearing on them on your sleeve for other people to take advantage of. Neither does just allowing yourself to feel your feelings mean that you have to surrender yourself to their control.

WaxingSun and Mountain – Use hope and optimism to scale mountains and overcome obstacles. Difficulties are easier to deal with when you confront them from a place of hope and optimism rather than pessimistic dissent.

Take Away – It’s time to get a handle on the languishing habit that you’ve developed. Make choices that lead to feeling better, because what you’re feeling now might be comfortable but isn’t particularly good. Allow your emotions to have a bit of space to just -be- this week, and keep expectations in check.

Bianco Nero Tarot - The Moon Card and Affirmators! Evening Mantras

Today’s draw is The Moon card, which is traditionally a representation of uncertainty, illusion, anxiety, fear, the unknown, and the subconscious.

The Moon card has been given, combined with an affirmation from the Affirmators! Evening Mantras deck, which says “Focus on the happy, not the crappy.”

Stop allowing your fears to take the lead!

Uncertainty and the unknown have a tendency to start off small and grow quickly until they take over everything else. Pretty soon, those fears are massive and the unknown seems insurmountable.

This is what causes stagnancy, and allows our fears to become the main focus in our lives.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that the positive aspects in your life have the ability to help light your path when things seem dark and scary. In doing so, it can help you in overcoming your fears, as it keeps those fears from growing. This requires a choice that has to be made again and again, though, to actually focus on those positive aspects and allow them to light your way through the dark.

Crafty – Don’t judge so harshly those that have acted in self-serving ways. If these actions weren’t meant to hurt you, but only allow this other person to get ahead in some way, perhaps it’s time to let go of the resentment and unhappiness they had inadvertently caused you.

Robin – Compassion / Patience: How can I give myself more compassion and patience?

Journey – Accept that you still have a long way to go in your journey. There’s still a lot to learn. Stop expecting yourself to already know and understand the lessons life hands you before you’ve even have had a chance to learn them.

Rose Quartz – Unconditional Love: How can I be more open to offering unconditional love to others?

Gratitude – By acknowledging the gratitude that is their due, and expressing gratitude freely.

I’ve run into a number of people that see “gratitude” as a bad word, but in reality, it is simply opening yourself up to acknowledging your good fortune and where that good fortune came from. Appreciation doesn’t carry with it a debt.

Rabbit – Fertility / Abundance: How can I encourage more abundance in my life this Spring?

Bound – Ease up on your tight grip of control and release yourself to be more open both with others and with new experiences. When you hold the reigns so tightly, you end up closing yourself off from “going with the flow”. It’s that “flow” that allows for new experiences, unexpected pleasures, and joyful moments.

Aquamarine – Calm / Courage: What do I need to help me to stay calm and courageous in the face of adversity?

The Sun – Hope and optimism. When you continue with these practices that allow you to foster hope and optimism in your outlook and your day-to-day life, they also provide you with the tools needed confront adversity with a more calm and courageous outlook.

Butterfly – Transformation: What sort of transformation is waiting for me this Spring?

Death – You are going to need to shed some of your past accomplishments in order to move forward into new ones that the future holds for you. Things change… even when you don’t want them to. Letting go creates far less obstacles to growth than trying to hold on so tightly.
