Today’s meditation was skipped.

Cirque du Tarot - The FoolToday’s draw is the Fool card, which is traditionally a representation of innocence, enthusiasm, newness and fresh starts, carefree outlooks, and spontaneity.

People often associate the Fool with being “foolish”, but sometimes it’s not about being foolish at all, but about seeing things from a new and fresh perspective and diving in to that perspective wholeheartedly.

Just as alcohol cushions a drunkard from injury in a fall, so too can optimistic enthusiasm cushion “The Fool” when he leaps before he looks.

Where in your life could use a bit more optimistic enthusiasm?  Where do you need to look up and not listen to the naysayers, but instead try anyway… just to see what happens? In what endeavor could that optimistic enthusiasm cushion your own stumbles and falls?  Today’s card is a reminder that sometimes when you pour on a bit of optimistic enthusiasm you can carry that sentiment right on past the failures and roadblocks, breezing by them without a care in the world.

The Lesson to Learn – Death and Imagination – Allow yourself to be open to changes and receptive to what could develop in their wake. The possibilities are endless, so use your imagination.

Advice to Help You Through – The Empress atop Page of Cups, Wounds – Don’t allow your reaction to changes to end up causing you to become less caring and nurturing for yourself and your needs. Doing so will only create more wounds that will need to be healed further on in life, and hold you back from appreciating the boon that these changes hold for you.

Wheel of Fortune – Confronting the unpredictability in your life and doing what you can to mitigate predictable problems that arise as things change and cycles shift. In other words, you need to start working on your holiday prep.

What is taking up my subconscious mind at the moment?

Eight of Wands – You are feeling rushed and spinning your wheels at the same time. Keep in mind that this can quickly lead to overwhelm if you’re not careful.

How is this affecting me?

The Empress Rx – You are so wrapped up in that discomfort that comes with spinning your wheels and not getting anywhere while pushing for progress, that you aren’t taking the time to take care of yourself as you should.

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Earth – The Hierophant and The Secret Garden – Any opportunity to explore and learn more should be taken this week when it comes to your resources and finances and the stability you crave.

Air – Knight of Coins atop King of Coins and Action – Be proactive and assertive in your communication with those that require a heavy hand this week. Take action instead of sitting back and letting them trod over you.

Water – Queen of Swords and Focus – The potential for getting your feelings hurt this week is quite high. Make sure that you stay focused when these upsets happen rather than letting them pull you off track.

Fire – The World and Cry – Remember that one’s journey can be filled with success and woe. They are not mutually exclusive, and sometimes the disappointments give birth to more rewarding progress.

Waning – Star and Rider – Optimism and faith in strangers are not going to be easy to keep in your life this week.  The fact that these cards are in the waning position is indicating that it’s okay to be a bit distrustful and cautious this week when it comes to those you don’t know all that well.

Waxing – Bird and Cloud – Misunderstandings are ripe for the picking this week and you’re going to have to take some caution when communicating with others in order to make sure things don’t get out of hand.  Be clear and concise, so there’s no room for misunderstandings to take root.

Take Away – The themes of this week have a lot to do with being watchful and decisive, and making sure that I stay focused even when distractions of the negative and emotional sort try to pull me away.

Learning to Lose Gracefully

Today’s meditation was more of a mourning experience. I learned today of Poppy Palin’s passing and while I did my stretching, I spent my time listening to Poppy’s last three videos where she says goodbye.

R.I.P. Poppy. You were a wonderful woman with a giving heart and far more admired and loved than you ever realized.

Everyday Enchantment Tarot by Poppy Palin - Eight of CoinsToday’s draw is the Eight of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of hard work and skill development, apprenticeship, skilled labor, gaining experience, and working towards expertise at something.

You are of an age in your life where you are going to start losing people. Your grandfather, father, Mr R, the number of friends that passed in the first wave of Covid, people you love and admire. Many have passed on, and many more still will. Can you get “good at” grief? Or is it new and fresh every time?

These are the thoughts on my mind today, even as I ask for a positive message. Today’s card tells us practice makes perfect, but that there will always be room to learn more and improve. Don’t give up. Even the pain in life can be a learning lesson for the positive if you are open to it.

Question for June 1st: Do people need other people for true happiness?

Everyday Enchantment Tarot by Poppy PalinReading Summary: Humans are social by nature (Three of Pentacles) and many truly need people in their lives in order for life to feel complete (The Emperor). On the other hand, there are always going to be those that would rather live in hardship rather than be social (Five of Coins).

Take Away: The answer to this is that it’s different for different people. Some need others in their lives, either by just a little or a lot. Others are happier alone, even if that means more hardships and extra work. Sometimes, this is the nature of that person, but more often it is spurred by past trauma.

This reading is simply a brief exploration of the current trajectory of my path and energy for the year ahead. Like all predictive readings, nothing here is written in stone, it’s more of a look ahead just to have an idea of what to anticipate and what to work at avoiding.

As an experiment, I have decided to do my year ahead reading a little differently this year. In January I pulled cards for the first six months of the year.  Today, I am revisiting the spread to pull cards for the last six months of the year, three of those months I will then interpret now, while the last three months of the year I will interpret at the beginning of October. I feel that this might help in ensuring a more accurate reading for the second half of the year.

Six Month Ahead Spread for Divination - Part 2 - July through December

2021’s Theme – Justice – This card is calculated through mathematics, and is not drawn randomly.  My card for 2021 is the Justice card, with the theme of having to acknowledge that what you put out into the world and what you do in your life reflects back to you in turn.  Good begets good, bad begets bad.  Following that inner moral compass will be especially important this year and possible a bit of a challenge.

April’s Theme – Strength – Like spring slowly builds into summer, as you head through April your own strengths will slowly continue to build.

April’s Focus / Advice – Healing –  During this time, make sure that you are focusing on the last vestiges of your recovery. Allow your strength to build instead of trying to tap into it and utilize it before it’s leveled off.

April’s Ray of Hope – Bilberry (Clarity) – The more and more you approach full recovery, the brighter your thoughts will be and the clearer your mind will become. The fog lifts a little at a time, and each day you can see a little clearer than the day before.

May’s Theme – Father of Horns (Cups) – Finding your footing is the theme of this month.  After the slippery slide down into the pit of depression and the long, slow climb back out, you’re finally at a place where you will feel as if you’ve found your footing emotionally and are on solid ground.

May’s Focus / Advice – Beyond – Now is a good time to look forward and start putting plans into action to build what you want to come into fruition in the future. You’ve held off long enough to allow yourself time to recover, and with solid ground once more under your feet, you are able to now begin striding forward in these matters.  Step out of the planning stages.

May’s Ray of Hope – Echinacea (Protection) – You are looked after and protected. Put a little more trust into the universe and your guides.  Allow Gideon to worry over you and your loved ones to take care of you in their own unique and preferred ways.  This blessing is here to lift you up, keep you protected, and give you the help you need to keep you safe as you begin to move forward into new frontiers this month.

June’s Theme – The Sun – With summer upon us it will be time to have a little fun this month. Don’t hibernate or hide indoors.  The temperatures are comfortable enough to enjoy some time outside, so take advantage of that to its fullest.

June’s Focus / Advice – Innocence – The seeds begun in May will have the chance to grow and flourish, and without putting in so much work that you have to feel “put upon” or “stuck” in the process. Don’t make this growth a chore.  Instead, have some fun and let more serious matters and endeavors develop at their own pace.

June’s Ray of Hope – Yerba mate (Activation) – You set the ball rolling on the projects and goals you wanted to get started.  Let the ball roll.  It’s going to carry itself for the most part this month.  You don’t have to babysit it every step and millimeter of the way.

Six Month Ahead Spread - Brady Tarot, Tree Whisper Oracle, Magickal Herb OracleJanuary’s Theme – The Devil – Temptation and finding your balance within your addictions and bad habits is going to be the theme of January.  There’s a lot of bad habits and other addictions that got a bit out of control toward the end of the year last year, and now is the time to address and correct those issues before they take root.

January’s Focus / Advice – Guidance – You’re not in this alone. Make sure that when you need help or added perspective, that you reach out to others to provide you with those things.  You have a variety of wise people around you that can help you when you’re struggling to understand, or need a little help with finding your footing or the right direction to go in.

January’s Ray of Hope – Dill (Enthusiasm) – Combat the negative not with just optimism, but also with enthusiasm.  It can be hard, when feeling overwhelmed, to stir up that eagerness to get different things done, but you have the power within you to set yourself on the right track if you train your focus and your interest into the project and allow it to sweep you up into the process.

February’s Theme – Five of Arrows (Swords) – Your issues with scarcity and feelings of failure are going to be a bit of an issue for you this month. Keep in mind that this is temporary and something you can walk away from and heal from… but in the moment it’ll feel pretty bad.  Although the theme of this month is defeat, being forewarned is to be armed and there are things you can do to ease up these influences in your life this month.

February’s Focus / Advice – Integration – Coming together with others can help in finding the support you need during this time.  Although the issue is different from what came up in January, the advice here is very similar in that you need to be open to not just reaching out to others, but connecting and working together to find mutual support.  A burden shared is a burden halved, as the saying goes.  Share your burdens so that they are not so heavy upon your own shoulders and in turn you will be able to help others in the same way.

February’s Ray of Hope – Ginseng (Endurance) – You are strong and healthy, and with others to help you with your burdens you will find that you are more than strong enough to make it through to the end of the troubles that are weighing on you. Take things one step at a time and you’ll get through to the other side no worse for wear.

March’s Theme – Mother of Arrows (Swords) – Communication is key through the month of March. As the darkness lets up, connect with others to share what you’ve learned from your experiences, and to gain knowledge and understanding from them in turn. You are starting to feel strong and steady once more, and will need to make sure that you stay on the positive side of things. Keep your chin up and your eyes forward.

March’s Focus / Advice – Listen – Listening is an extremely important part of communication. Don’t forget that you have as much to learn from others as you have to share with them in turn.  Take time to be still and quiet and not just listen, but actually hear what others are saying.  For communication to be truly successful, your ears and mind must be open.

March’s Ray of Hope – Ephedra (Expansion) –  Knowledge and understanding, as well as a healthy and supportive community, grow through clear and honest communication.  Open up and share, accept what others have to share in turn, and all will grow from the experience, becoming better than before as a result.
