Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Exotic Flora Tarot - The Hanged Man

Today’s draw is The Hanged Man, which is traditionally a representation of taking a pause, considering alternate perspectives, relaxing into difficult situations, surrender, or letting go.

The Hanged Man has then been combined with an affirmation card from The Az Oracle, which says, “When life is reflecting who you were… remind it who you ARE. It will catch up 😉 trust me. The reflection doesn’t shift until we’re ready for it to, but you can remind yourself you’re ready, anytime.”

Sometimes the world around us, and even those closest to us, are unable to keep up with our growth.

We have the opportunity to learn new things and become better people every single day. Unfortunately, others can’t always see the internal shifts that happen. It takes time for you to demonstrate these changes in visible ways others can see, usually repeatedly, before other people begin to get it and see you differently.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that just because people don’t recognize the growth that you have accomplished doesn’t mean that it is invalidated. It just means that they haven’t caught up yet. Be patient, and they will catch up with you eventually.

Oracle Reading with the Secret Mysteries The Chakra Oracle and Twist's Gratitude Postcard Set

Reading Summary: All of the cards tie together with the Anchor card through the hues in the Hermit’s cloak. This speaks of your ability to remain in a state of peaceful serenity during moments of chaos, no matter what is going on around you.

In an emergency, you don’t panic. You set aside the fear and anxiety to instead lead the way (the lantern color in the Anchor card connects with the color of the gazelle in the Peace card), letting others lean on you for stability and hope (the lantern color in the Anchor card also connects to the golden aura surrounding the figure in the Dreams card).

You may fall apart later when you are alone, but in the moment you remain serene (background in the Anchor card matching the dress of the figure in the Serenity card).

Take Away: You are excellent in a crisis. You may struggle with the anxiety that comes with powerlessness when you’re given the time to think and react… but in the moment of an emergency, there’s no one better. You have the ability to set aside your emotions and the reactions those emotions may cause and just act.

In doing so, you provide direction and stability for others that can’t handle emergencies and crisis as gracefully as you do. They follow you and trust you to help them through these moments, and in doing so they receive a touch of your calm serenity.

Prompt No. 9 : What would a “good day” look like for me right now?

Tarot Reading with the Exotic Flora Tarot - The Hanged Man, Seven of Wands, Page of Cups

Reading Summary: No emotional complications (Page of Cups Rx), just you being you (The Hanged Man) and dealing with issues in your own way as they crop up (Seven of Wands)… aka. no people pleasing required.

Take Away: So many of your days are spent trying to please others in one way or another. You don’t get the opportunity or luxury of being able to just step back and not have to worry about these things.

For this reason, a “good day” for you involves a lack of people pleasing, and the opportunity to just step back and observe rather than needing to play Mr Fix-It.

Added to that (and an integral part of it as well, since people pleasing is usually spurred by emotions) is not having to deal with emotional complications. You’re doing well at learning about your emotions and expanding your emotional intelligence… but in the process that means you’re often dealing with emotions you don’t yet fully understand or know how to deal with. It’s often frustrating, and a “good day” would not include this frustration and discomfort.

Other elements included in this reading:
Foraged Parmeliaceae Lichen for a “Breath of Fresh Air”

The Ostrich and the Frog

Today’s meditation was a self-directed ten minute session, focused upon the “Comfort Zone” card from The Az Oracle (shown) by @Sunni_Chapman and the guidance that came with that card.

That guidance says, “There’s a lot of chatter out there about leaving your comfort zone, and while that can be absolutely invigorating, I suggest taking your comfort zone with you! How? By bringing whatever comforts you, INTO your explorations, whether they are inner ones, outer ones, business ones, personal ones, relationship ones or otherwise… add some of your comforts to the mix!

Jonasa Jaus Tarot 8th Edition - Eight of Swords and The Az OracleThe @GlitterbyInk #SeptemberSoul25 Challenge
Seeds of Intention Prompt for September 11th
: Alignment
Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Eight of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of willful ignorance, self-imposed restrictions, turning a blind eye (especially when it can be harmful to self), and entertaining a victim mentality.

Okay, so… confession time. I have a tendency to play ostrich when I’m overwhelmed or angry about something. My very first inclination in those times is to pretend whatever it is… isn’t there. That it just doesn’t exist. Honestly? This willful ignorance sometimes pays off. Whatever it is sort itself out without my input or interference, or simply goes away on its own.

There’s a risk here, though.

The risk is that whatever is amiss becomes the new norm, and that by turning a blind eye to that situation I’ve begin to acclimate to this new norm without even realizing it.

When that happens again and again, it then becomes like that saying on how if you drop a frog into boiling water, it will jump out; but if you put it in first, and then slowly heat the water, soon you have frog soup without the frog ever even moving.

I don’t want to be frog soup.

This is why people stand up for their values, speak up when something doesn’t seem right, and protest when their rights or the rights of others are violated.

Today’s message ask us to consider… Are you listening to your moral compass and standing by your personal ethics and values? Or are you sticking your head in the sand and just hoping it will pass (whatever “it” is) regardless of the potential consequences? If the latter, what happens when the pot begins to boil and it’s then too late to say or do anything?

Oracle Reading with the Sibyl of the Flora Oracle, Mary Feywood Postcard Collection, and the Astro Herbal Oracle CollectionYour Addiction – Stability (Juniper), safety (Pansy), and security (Balsamroot).

You’ve spent a long time developing these qualities in your life, and enjoy the fruits of those laborers. You are so focused, even now, I’m creating these things, though, that you often forget that there is more to life than that foundation you have so diligently built for yourself.

How to Introduce Moderation – Don’t allow that clever dark side of negativity and pessimism within you to get the wiggle room it needs to take root and make itself at home (Fox and Fae). Instead, make sure you are making time to get out in nature. Healing resides there if you’re willing to soak it in (Quiet Spot).

What personal growth should you be directing energy toward at this time?

You need to continue to focus on fostering the positivity and optimism (Camu Camu) needed to ease your anxieties (Ginger) and help you stay clear headed (Cerato).

You can’t think clearly when you’re anxieties are running wild, and your anxieties are fed by your natural tendency toward pessimism and negative self talk. You’ve been working for quite some time on the personal growth of slipping more positivity and optimism into your life, and you need to continue on this path.

The Virtue of Patience

Today’s meditation was a self-directed ten minute session, focused upon the “Give It a Minute” card from The Az Oracle (shown) by @Sunni_Chapman and the guidance that came with that card.

That guidance says, “That thing you’re worrying about, or think has gone wrong, or that you have done wrong… give it a minute. Sometimes more can be solved by just going out to play or doing something else than could be with all of your tinkering. Relax child. All will be well. You’ll see.”

Seeds of Intention Prompt for September 5th
: Whisper
Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is The Sun card, which is traditionally a representation of success, optimism, positivity, fun and frivolity. In my path, the Sun is also a symbol of male vitality, virility, and warmth.

Sometimes, “all things (really do) come to those that wait”. I’m not saying that this is a rule to live by for every occasion, but there are definitely times when it aptly applies.

Patience is considered a virtue for a reason, though. We are so inundated with instant gratification that it has become the new norm… and patience, a quality that has always been a struggle for humanity to begin with, has now become an enigma.

But sometimes? Patience is what’s needed most.

I’m currently in a situation where I’m stuck in a holding pattern, and I find myself struggling with the lack of action and agency. What hangs in the balance is, quite literally, my livelihood.

The message in the Sun card for today is a reminder that maybe we should work more at turning these times of waiting into times of enjoyment by doing things to take our mind off of it. Have a little fun and let the impatience and worry sit on the back burner for a while. Then, when we come back to it, we’ll be able to do so with a lighter heart and clearer mind; those nasty little impatient whispers in our head not quite as loud as before.

Tarot Reading with the Camena Tarot, New Orleans Tarot Cats, and Grain CardsWhat are you ignoring that needs rooted out and dealt with?

Wheel of Fortune – You are not handling uncertainty and the concept of idle time well. That uncertainty spread out before you, and the lack of predictability involved, makes it feel like you’re spiralling out of control and that there’s no safe place to land.

Your Personal Pain

Australian White Cedar and Queen of Cups – Now that you are so much more open to your emotions, they are trying to have more say, and even step in to lead the way. This is causing a conflict to arise at times between you emotional self and your moral compass. (ie: There are things you could do to make your situation better and create more stability during this time of uncertainty, but they are illegal, unacceptable to your moral compass, or both.)

A Healing Action to Take

Walnut and Nine of Cups – Place your focus into staying positive. Things are in flux right now, and sometimes that makes an optimistic viewpoint hard to hold onto. Don’t let the negative creep in, but instead stay on top of developing that positive outlook and optimism you’ve been working towards. This continues to combat your pessimism and the influences of your negative inner narratives.

Possible Positive Outcome

Elm and The Hierophant – By being patient and learning how to do things the “proper way” by the book instead of taking shortcuts, you are then able to help others learn and guide them through it, too. This is a comfortable position for you that helps you feel more stable and secure, even during times of transition.

Take Away – Stop twisting in the wind. Use your work with positivity to help keep yourself calm and your hope alive. You can’t learn the right way to do things if you’re too busy with your focus on getting away with doing the wrong things. Not to mention, going against your moral compass has never worked well for you and the chances of it doing so this time are low.

Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Nine of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of themes that have to do with contentment, accomplishment, and satisfaction in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, and intuition.

One of the things I find particularly appealing about meditation and mindfulness is that you can take it with you anywhere. You can quite literally do it everywhere.

This means that the potential to find some kind of peace and contentment is possible anywhere and in any situation. This is why combat soldiers are taught box breathing. This is how snipers stay so calm and focused. This is how free divers are able to be so effective with their breath control.

Yes. A cushy mat and some silence is an absolutely delightful way to practice. We practice in the spaces, though, so that we can then bring the skills learned there with us to be utilized in the busy and chaotic world where they can do the most good.

The message for today is that any place has the potential to be our happy place. If we learn how to bring that inner stillness and peace with us, we can bring our happy place with us wherever we go.

Relax and enjoy the ride, tuck away your defences, and put away your fears concerning what you can’t see and don’t yet know.

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Two of Swords (Two of Spires) which is traditionally a representation of crossroads, difficult decisions, needing more information, seeking inward for answers, weighing one’s options, and sometimes avoidance.

I enjoy hiking. Whether it’s a difficult climb or a meandering shinrin-yoku, being out among the trees is my happy place. I would live among them if I could… although at this point, the only chance of that ever happening involves a tent and trespassing.

Pendulum UseSometimes, when I am feeling particularly overloaded though, I struggle to make even the simplest of decision (like where to go to visit the trees). At these times, it’s easy to get caught in a freeze and end up doing nothing.

Often, that’s exactly what happens. I end up not going, and I’m worse off for it. Other times, I pull out my trusty pendulum and let chance decide. Because, the thing is? It doesn’t matter where I go, as long as I go.

Today’s message is that freezing in place is not the answer; movement is. Even if the act of making the choice feels like too much. Close your eyes and take a step forward anyway. You can’t get out of your current circumstances or feelings of overwhelm by stewing in them.

Today’s draw is the Ten of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of satisfaction and stability in the area of one’s finances, resources, home, health, manifestations, and the physical world. This often translates into themes that have to do with hard earned success, accomplishments, abundance created through patience and hard work.

Groceries are so damned expensive that a trip to the grocery store these days often causes a churning worry in my stomach.  I can’t help it.  Due to metabolic issues, food is something that we cannot go without in this house, and it’s only when my pantry is full that I truly feel things are right in the world.

That full pantry is getting harder and harder to accomplish these days; even with being fed away from home twice a week these days.

There are ways, though, to make the food stretch.  Rice and potatoes are a big one, but so too are slow cookers.  The thing is?  It takes more strategy to inspire that “the kitchen is full of food” feeling, but it -can- be done with some adjustments.

Today’s message is a reminder that a sense of wealth and security is about more than just money.  Sometimes it takes figuring out what -really- makes you feel secure, and working “outside the box” to make sure that those needs are being met.

You know that saying “light of fire under your ass”? Well the woman in this card doesn’t look all that happy about the situation, does she?

Held in place by tangled hair that feels a lot like the burden of obligation, no amount of public accolade is going to turn that frown upside down. Nor does whatever victory she’s after seem it all worth it.

Today’s message is a reminder that we do things for ourselves first and foremost; just like putting on your own oxygen mask in an airplane before helping others with theirs.

If something is not good for you, why are you doing it? Is your own sense of obligation keeping you there? Maybe, if so, it’s time to put yourself first and pull your ass out out of the fire.

Prompt for August 10th : My Reflection Today | #FMS_REFLECTION25
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Three of Pentacles (Stones), which is traditionally a representation of teamwork, collaboration, working together, and themes to do with bringing in help and/or outside expertise in order to get something done.

One is no good without the others. Just look at the picture in the card for proof. One stone does not an arch make. Two could make an arch, but it would be wonky and sad. The third stone needs the other two; you could even say that it is the arch… But it wouldn’t manage that alone.

Life is like that. You can make do on your own, but to achieve true excellence you need others there to support you.

That support could be teaching you a new skill, or lending a shoulder to cry on, or helping out on a project… or just cheering you on from the sidelines. It all boils down to teamwork in the end, though.

Today’s message asks us to reflect on how others contribute their support in our own lives, and how we do so for others as well. There’s a massive interlocking safety net of support out there, connected from person to person. Where do you fit into that net? How do you contribute to it? Where are you benefiting from it?

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Justice card, which is traditionally a representation of balance, cause and effect, repercussions and consequences, give and take, and can often indicate the law or legal system.

Some days you just can’t say anything right. How well do you wear the embarrassment of being wrong? Do you get all red faced and awkward? Do you get stubborn and stick to your guns even though you know you’re wrong? Do you apologize and concede with grace?

Someone once told me when I was very young that “there is nothing wrong or bad in being wrong; it just means that you are learning something new.” As a kid with an extremely thirsty brain, I took this message to heart.

Still, depending upon how others act about you being wrong, it can make it hard to concede. Let’s face it, no matter how graceful we are about being wrong, some people can’t be right without being ugly about it, and their asshat reactions can inspire a negative reaction in us.

We can stop them from turning us ugly too, though.

Today, I was wrong about something and the person I was dealing with was a jerk about it. I responded gracefully with an “oh! I’m sorry. You’re right! I didn’t know that.” To which they replied “No shit you f’ing moron. Stupid (racist pejorative here).”

I very much wanted to snap back at them, but instead, I put my “mental raincoat” on and let his insult roll right off like a raindrop. I managed to hold my temper, smile, and replied “thanks for teaching me something new” and walked away.

Why? Because they are clearly having a bad day and determined to continue having a bad day. Why should they be allowed to make me have a bad day too?

Today’s message is a reminder that cause-and-effect may be how the world balances itself out, but there are times when you can choose not to participate and let the negative that comes your way slide right off you like rain off a raincoat. You just have to choose to do so.

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is The Tower card, which is traditionally a representation of sudden change, chaotic transformation, destruction, and the tearing down of something within one’s life or beliefs that leaves room for something new to take its place.

Like a game of Jenga, sometimes all it takes is a tiny detail to go awry, and everything falls apart.

The thing is, though?  Maybe that means that what we were building wasn’t really all that great to begin with. If it was, shouldn’t it take more than one little detail to send it all tumbling down?

If that’s the case, then maybe the destruction is a blessing in disguise.  Better it fall apart now than later after we’ve put even more work into it, right?  Now we can start over and build it even better the second time around… or, perhaps start something else entirely new that we’ll be happier with in the long run.

Today’s message is a reminder that breaking a few eggs is a part of the process of finding what’s right for us and what works.  When we fail and things fall apart, we learn from these experiences.  Those lessons prepare us to do better and create something truly able to stand strong in the chaos.
