Finding the Positive for August 10 – 12

Cracked Amethyst Tarot's Three of Pentacles, Ocean from The Sky Tarot's Justice Card, The Theoi Tarot's Justice card, and The Az Oracle

August 10 – Mental Health Card of the Day

Today’s meditation was a self-directed ten minute session, focused upon the “Lost & Found” card from The Az  Oracle (shown) by @Sunni_Chapman and a quote from guidance that came with that card.

That guidance says, “If you feel a little lost, or lost about certain things, just ask yourself: what exactly am I looking for? … when you’re following your own directions, it’s just a process of discovery, you feel to go this way… you see what that looks and feels like… and depending on how it does, you make another move. You just keep following the feeling of the thing you are looking for. You’re not worried about getting it “wrong”, cause you’re moving by what FEELS RIGHT.

@FatMumSlim August #FMSPAD Challenge
Prompt for August 10th : My Reflection Today | #FMS_REFLECTION25
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Three of Pentacles (Stones), which is traditionally a representation of teamwork, collaboration, working together, and themes to do with bringing in help and/or outside expertise in order to get something done.

One is no good without the others. Just look at the picture in the card for proof. One stone does not an arch make. Two could make an arch, but it would be wonky and sad. The third stone needs the other two; you could even say that it is the arch… But it wouldn’t manage that alone.

Life is like that. You can make do on your own, but to achieve true excellence you need others there to support you.

That support could be teaching you a new skill, or lending a shoulder to cry on, or helping out on a project… or just cheering you on from the sidelines. It all boils down to teamwork in the end, though.

Today’s message asks us to reflect on how others contribute their support in our own lives, and how we do so for others as well. There’s a massive interlocking safety net of support out there, connected from person to person. Where do you fit into that net? How do you contribute to it? Where are you benefiting from it?

August 11 – Mental Health Card of the Day

Today’s meditation was a self-directed ten minute session, focused upon the “You Know What?” card from The Az  Oracle (shown) by @Sunni_Chapman and a quote from guidance that came with that card.

That guidance says, “…so when someone doesn’t like me, then they get to go off and be them and I get to go off and be me. It’s a happy thing. We are not all meant to hold hands in this life… Celebrate people not liking you; it means you get to be more you and they get to be more them.”

Prompt for August 11th : What I Wore | #FMS_WHATIWORE25
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Justice card, which is traditionally a representation of balance, cause and effect, repercussions and consequences, give and take, and can often indicate the law or legal system.

Some days you just can’t say anything right. How well do you wear the embarrassment of being wrong? Do you get all red faced and awkward? Do you get stubborn and stick to your guns even though you know you’re wrong? Do you apologize and concede with grace?

Someone once told me when I was very young that “there is nothing wrong or bad in being wrong; it just means that you are learning something new.” As a kid with an extremely thirsty brain, I took this message to heart.

Still, depending upon how others act about you being wrong, it can make it hard to concede. Let’s face it, no matter how graceful we are about being wrong, some people can’t be right without being ugly about it, and their asshat reactions can inspire a negative reaction in us.

We can stop them from turning us ugly too, though.

Today, I was wrong about something and the person I was dealing with was a jerk about it. I responded gracefully with an “oh! I’m sorry. You’re right! I didn’t know that.” To which they replied “No shit you f’ing moron. Stupid (racist pejorative here).”

I very much wanted to snap back at them, but instead, I put my “mental raincoat” on and let his insult roll right off like a raindrop. I managed to hold my temper, smile, and replied “thanks for teaching me something new” and walked away.

Why? Because they are clearly having a bad day and determined to continue having a bad day. Why should they be allowed to make me have a bad day too?

Today’s message is a reminder that cause-and-effect may be how the world balances itself out, but there are times when you can choose not to participate and let the negative that comes your way slide right off you like rain off a raincoat. You just have to choose to do so.

August 12 – Mental Health Card of the Day

Today’s meditation was a self-directed ten minute session, focused upon the “Reflection” card from The Az 2 Oracle (shown) by @Sunni_Chapman and a quote from guidance that came with that card.

That guidance says, “Sometimes you just need to stare it down cold and take it all in without flinching. Just watch it, whatever it is, without forcing yourself to perform or react.”

Prompt for August 12th : A Tiny Detail | #FMS_TINYDETAIL25

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is The Tower card, which is traditionally a representation of sudden change, chaotic transformation, destruction, and the tearing down of something within one’s life or beliefs that leaves room for something new to take its place.

Like a game of Jenga, sometimes all it takes is a tiny detail to go awry, and everything falls apart.

The thing is, though?  Maybe that means that what we were building wasn’t really all that great to begin with. If it was, shouldn’t it take more than one little detail to send it all tumbling down?

If that’s the case, then maybe the destruction is a blessing in disguise.  Better it fall apart now than later after we’ve put even more work into it, right?  Now we can start over and build it even better the second time around… or, perhaps start something else entirely new that we’ll be happier with in the long run.

Today’s message is a reminder that breaking a few eggs is a part of the process of finding what’s right for us and what works.  When we fail and things fall apart, we learn from these experiences.  Those lessons prepare us to do better and create something truly able to stand strong in the chaos.

Happy Little Adjustments

Today’s meditation was a self-guided ten minute long session that focused on the “arch frenemies” oracle card and accompanying written guidance from Sunni Chapman’s Az 2 Oracle cards.

The guidance for this card had to deal with the people that irritate us, and why that’s the case. How sometimes it’s about them, reflecting back to us something in ourselves that we dislike, or other times that they are showing us something that we don’t want in our own lives And thus we are learning by example what not to do.

This meditation then led to a nap in which I dreamed about running into people (mostly strangers) I dislike or find irritating, and worrying in the dream that this meant their behavior and perceived flaws are things that I possess and dislike in myself.

The Crystal Magic Tarot - Two of Wands and The Az 2 Oracle@FatMumSlim August #FMSPAD Challenge
Prompt for August 8th : Something That Sparkles | #FMS_SPARKLES25

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Two of Wands (paired with celestite), which is traditionally a representation of planning, decision making, looking ahead, and themes to do with progress.

Be honest about what we enjoy doing and make decision based on that… If you’re not in love with what it is you do every day, then… Take ownership for making changes. The only bad decision is to not make a decision at all…(ref: deck guidebook)

The sparkly celestite is a stone of calm and clarity, with energy that helps in avoiding overthinking on the things in life that can and should be simple. Combined with the Two of Wands, the message for today is to seek out those things you enjoy and begin the process of incorporating them into those things that you don’t enjoy.

Listen to some of your favorite music while trudging through your bookkeeping or doing your housework. Park at the back of the lot on a sunny day so you can enjoy a sun-filled walk in fresh air on your way in and out of the store. Go barefoot under your desk.

We’re not looking for you to go nuclear on your life here, but rather to take baby steps at making your days (and those tasks within those days) more pleasurable.

Forest Tales Oracle ReadingReading Summary: Remember that this time of transition is a growth spurt (Reishi) and just work on staying true to yourself (Amanita Muscatia) as you go with the flow (Water Nymph).

It’s okay to be pushed along the path as long as you’re checking in with yourself and making sure you’re not doing anything along the way that you’ll be unhappy with yourself for in the end. Just ride it out and stay true to yourself.

Roll : 10  Prompt : Where can I focus my energy next for my own best good?

Maya Mineo Tarot - Five of Cups, Six of Cups, King of SwordsReading Summary: Work on getting a handle on your rampant pessimism (Five of Cups) and try to shift the narrative to looking back on the past challenges you’ve experienced and how you’ve made it through them just fine (Six of Cups). Remember that you have the know how and support from others to come out on top of this challenge too, you only need to apply strategy and wisdom to the equation and remember you didn’t get where you are alone on your own (King of Swords).

Take Away: You have more control over your current situation and what’s coming in the near future (that you’re dreading big time) than you think you do.  That control lies in acknowledging that you have choices to make and others with you to help you on your journey through this rough period.  Place your focus on what you -can- control, and the rest will fall in line as a result.  You are the leader in this parade, so lead by doing what you can and letting go of what you can’t, instead of grousing over lack of control and letting frustration and fear get in your way as a result.

Other elements included in this reading:
Dried Rosehips for Releasing Stress and Negativity
Foraged Hiba Tips for Grounding and Revitalization
Labradorite (Dice) for Mental and Emotional Healing

Personal Values and Moral Compasses

Today’s meditation was a self-directed ten minute session, focused upon the theme of Other Lives from The Az 2 Oracle card (shown) by @Sunni_Chapman and a quote from the guidance that came with that card.

That guidance says, “…what moves you is different than things you try to move; what moves you is something that is so completely resonant, you scarcely need to try! It just pulls you quietly toward it.”

Medieval Cat Tarot - Six of Wands and The Az 2 Oracle@FatMumSlim August #FMSPAD Challenge
Prompt for August 4th : In My Hand | #FMS_INMYHAND25
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Six of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of public accolades, societal expectations, people pleasing, and peer pressure.

Do you want to be happy with and proud of yourself, or do you prioritize others opinions of you above your own?

Now, I’m not saying that the accolades of others don’t or shouldn’t feel good. Of course they do. But, for a more authentic life and healthier perspective, their opinion should come second to your own.

Allowing others to dictate how we feel about ourselves as peer pressure becomes a problem, and this is how people end up halfway through their lives just to suddenly realize nothing that they’ve done or built actually makes them happy.

That satisfaction in life and independence to stand up to peer pressure for our own values is ours to claim. It is already within our grasp, just waiting for us to realize that the opinions and accolades that are the most valuable of all are the ones that come from us… not others.

Today’s message seeks to empower us to connect with our own values, interests, and opinions… and to prioritize them over the influences of others. Choose your own path, follow your own personal moral compass and values. No one can truly know you better than you know yourself, which means your happiness lies within your own hands; not in the hands of others.

Ace of Wands – Ignition Prompts for August 2nd thru 4th

Intuitive Whispers Oracle ReadingWhat bold beginning am I ready to ignite?

Move Through Your Fear – “The way to move past fear is not to ignore it or pretend it isn’t there, but instead to identify it, feel it, and notice what thoughts and feelings arise. Move through it rather than around it.

Confrontations with people is not really something that you’re uncomfortable with. Confronting your fears, on the other hand, is another matter. You are very adept at avoiding and ignoring, and in many cases this works well, as your fears are be discovered unfounded as time passes.

Sometimes though, especially lately as you seek to allow yourself to be more vulnerable, you’ve found that your fears will cause you to freeze in place.

The “bold beginning” that this card is encouraging you to ignite in your life right now is to stop allowing these fears to freeze you up, and instead confront them and process them so that you can move past them instead of being held up by them.

Where is my creative fire asking to be unleashed?

Crown Activation – “When your crown activates, it’s drawing a lighter, more playful energy to move through you. What heaviness can you let go of to let this new playfulness in?… Right now it’s time to play.”

Play and playfulness are important aspects in igniting your creative energy. Play inspires you and puts others at ease, all at the same time, allowing inspiring moments to flow more smoothly both within you and along your path.

How am I being invited to act on inspiration now?

Throat Release atop Trust the Call – “Often we are taught to hold things in and solve them by ourselves, but this is rarely the best way for the body to process its feelings. Let it out. You deserve to be heard

Make sure that you are listening to your intuition and speaking up when you need to rather than holding back when it comes to something that if not said could end up festering within you.

Sometimes communication with others is all about timing. Make sure that you’re listening to your intuition and not ignoring those moments of opportunity to garner the ear and understanding of others when they are presented to you.

Fuchsia Flowers for Stability in the Face of External Disruption
Foraged Wood Fern for Exorcising Negative Influences
Rose Quartz for Gentle Kindness to Self and Others
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

I’ve been playing my “Dreamy Kisses” playlist today, which I usually only listen to when soaking in the tub, in order to save the more mellow sounds and help ease my anxiety a bit.

Seeking Joy By Letting Go

Today’s meditation was a self-directed ten minute session, focused upon the theme of Doubt from the included Az Oracle card by @Sunni_Chapman and a quote from the guidance that came with it.

That guidance says, “…it’s not the road (the means or the method) that you need to mind so much as the decision and intention behind that road. What do you want to see and feel on your road? What kind of scenery do you want to take in on the way?”

There’s a lot of uncertainty in my life right now, especially around my livelihood.  My meditation for the day was focused on reconnecting and centering myself on my path and what I want to achieve through that path I’ve chosen.  It’s a reiteration of a message I’ve received a lot over the past few days, which is to say… focus upon what is under your control, and let go of the rest that you can’t do anything about.

Whimsical Realm of Oddities Tarot's The Hanged Man and The Az Oracle@FatMumSlim August #FMSPAD Challenge
Prompt for August 2nd : A Quiet Joy | #FMS_QUIETJOY25
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Hanged Man card, which is traditionally a representation of taking a pause, considering alternate perspectives, relaxing into difficult situations, surrender, or letting go.

It can be  hard to sit with your thoughts and feelings sometimes. They can feel overwhelming and, at least for me? When I’m feeling overwhelmed my natural inclination is to try and shut it all down. That means that in meditation, during these times sitting in silence with an empty mind is a piece of cake.

Harder is sitting in silence with those emotions, thoughts, and concerns.  Sitting in silence and acknowledging my fears and worries.  Sitting in silence and not allowing them to spiral out of control, but to just -sit- with them and let them have a moment of acknowledgement.

Sometimes this means I end up crying.  Sometimes, I can’t stand it and have to stop.  Sometimes… I can’t actually keep things from spiraling in my brain.  I understand, though, that these quiet moments are important.  They allow time to acknowledge my fears, feelings, and anxieties, which is the first step to sorting through them and actually dealing with them… instead of burying them so that they fester beneath the surface.

The message for today is to remember that even in these times when those quiet moments aren’t peaceful? There’s benefit.  They are a necessary part of our path to joy, as it’s after we acknowledge these fears and open to them that their weight begins to ease and our heart to lighten. Today’s card is an encouragement to not hide from what needs to be seen.  Make space to allow it to come forward, and acknowledge it so that it can continue on and pass on by.  That way, the path is open, unblocked even, for that joy in life that we’re all seeking to savor.

: Strength Opening Spread

The Strength Oracle Reading with the Banksy Wisdom Cards

What strength am I guided to embrace as my foundation this Leo season?

Breaking the Rules – You are very good at being yourself against all odds. Guilt and peer pressure rarely have the influence over you that others think that they will (although, this boundary has been a bit more mushy lately than you’d like). This individuality comes from knowing yourself and being able to follow your own inner compass without question. This is a skill that you need to tap into this Leo season.

How can I move through this Leo season with grace and confidence?

Embrace the World – Expect others to let “you do you”, and you do the same in return for them. Just because something is not for you doesn’t mean it’s not perfect for them and vice versa. Embrace the differences that make each of us unique, and remember to mind your own business when people aren’t doing things “your way”.

What heart-led action am I being called to take in devotion to myself?

Necessary Selfishness – As mentioned above, you do you, and if others don’t like it? Too damn bad. Remember that you don’t have to make excuses for yourself, no matter who it is that’s offended or put out by your authenticity.
