Prompt: “Pull the Queen of Swords card from your deck(s). Compare the imagery between the card provided below and the card(s) from your own deck(s). How would you read them differently and why?“

Terra Volatile - Queen of SwordsTerra Volatile – She has a decapitated head dangling from one wrist and blood on her sword.  The Queen of Swords in this particular imagery is clearly going to not just be judicious, but deal with issues quickly and with precision.  There is no room for sentimentality here, and the situation the querent finds themselves in is going to need to be dealt with in much the same manner.  Don’t worry if you come  off seemingly cold-hearted, every harvest requires the chaff to be removed, and now’s the time to get that done.

Queen of Swords in the RTEXT Tarot, Stunning Tarot, and Zoomies Tarot

RTEXT Tarot – This deck has an interesting take on the Queen of Swords, blending her in with the Queen of Wands to draw in an element of fire and creative spark. It speaks of using your mind in creative ways, to think outside the box for solutions you can use to help and guide those around you. Experience resides in the blue cloak she wears, and it is through her experience that this Queen is strong in her leadership of others, guiding the way forward in what might possibly be considered unconventional and surprising ways.

Stunning Tarot – How often do our thoughts come without emotions attached to them?  Not often. In this card we see the queen as a mermaid, submerged within the water with her sword drawn, but held with a touch of restraint.  She wants to listen first, hear what you have to say, and hold off on judgement until she’s had time to sort through both her emotions and her thoughts and come to a solid conclusion. It is this energy that needs to be brought into the situation you find yourself in. Don’t react impulsively and take the time to sort out your emotions from your thoughts, weighing what you’ve learned and your internal reactions to it prior to speaking out or taking action.

Zoomies Tarot – “At the dogforsaken swingers club.” Dogs are playful and fun. If dogs are forsaken, it doesn’t sound like it’d be that much fun of a club, and the bored look of the frog on the swing seems to agree.  Take time to examine what is missing from the picture before you step forward to try and offer advice or perspective to others.  Something is missing in the situation, and until you figure out what that is? Your advice isn’t going to get through and land as you hope it would.

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Terra Volatile and How to Be a Wildflower DeckToday’s draw is the Five of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of tests, trials, and conflict in the area of one’s intellect, education, logic, ambition, or communication. This often translates into themes that have to do with competition at work, arguments, and the drive to win and come out on top of the situation.

The message here, when this card is combined with the affirmation card for today, is to remember that not all journeys are meant to be easy.  Sometimes you have to fight to move forward and keep life interesting.  It won’t all just land in your lap.

Terra Volatile

A card to represent me this past year.

The Star Rx – Struggling with staying positive. It has not come easily to me this year and there has been a lot of difficulties and slip ups along the way.

A soul lesson I was learning this past year.

Five of Wands – How to be more effective in getting across what I feel is important. And that inner conflict can be far more destructive and disruptive than outer conflict.

How this soul lesson changed me.

Four of Swords Rx – It showed me that rest is more than being idle. Idleness is not enough to restore and recuperate.

Something that held me back this past year.

Ten of Wands atop Seven of Swords – There is a great deal of uncertainty residing in the Seven of Swords here in this imagery. It seeks of allowing myself to become overburdened by feelings of uncertainty concerning my direction forward and methods of getting there.

Something that I ignored this past year.

The Moon – It didn’t work and held me back, but I was trying very hard to ignore my feelings if uncertainty and self doubt.

Something I should be proud of.

The Temptation – Identifying where I am slipping off track with my addictions and making efforts to begin rectifying the issue.

Hopes and Dreams

Today’s meditation was less than ten minutes, but I did manage to do just a bit when I first woke up.

Terra Volatile and How to Be a Wildflower DeckToday’s draw is the Ten of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of emotional satiation. This goes beyond the solitary satisfaction we see in the Nine of Cups and speaks, instead, of an emotional completion that is both healthy and includes others. This card is very often referred to as the “happy family” card.

The couple in the imagery of today’s cards are not destitute, but neither are they wealthy. The man is depicted describing to the woman the beautiful and happy life they could have together, and they are both wrapped up in this visage.

In the affirmation card, there is then a reminder that dreams are important. Not the dreams you reap during REM sleep, but the kind that involves hopes and goals for the future.

The message here in todays cards is a reminder to look forward with hope and optimism, for it is through these sentiments we find the building blocks that will eventually take us there.

Terra VolatileAdvice I need to hear at this time concerning my family relations.

Two of Swords and Six of Coins – Choose generosity. Be kind even when your first reaction and instinct is to slap back. Instead, take a moments pause and a breath, then in that moment of balance, choose to be better.

Cleanse This – The Hermit and King of Cups – Gideon needs your time and attention. Don’t leave him all alone in the dark.

Ground This – Seven of Wands and Four of Coins – You can’t both spend and save. It doesn’t work.

Release This – The High Priestess atop The Chariot – Let go of your impatience to connect with the unseen and unknown. It will come in its own time, and pushing will only cause problems.

I forced mother to take a break from her shopping and sit at a table in a cafe to eat instead of continuing to rush rush rush. Which meant I got to sit down and take a break.

Today’s meditation was skipped again today. I’ll try again tomorrow. I woke up to the small of food today and it had me heading to the kitchen instead of lingering to meditate.

Somnia Tarot and How to Be a Wildflower DeckToday’s draw is the Empress card, which is traditionally a representation of nurturing, the earth, mother energies, fertility, abundance, and the sacred feminine.

Here in the imagery of this card, we see the inside taken out. Wet grasslands and standing water combine for me with the spiderwebs in the affirmation card to speak to me a specific message.

“It’s time to get outside. Take your camera and go for a walk in the woods.”

For me, this is a place of renewal and play, of mystery and breathtaking beauty. And spending time among the trees, especially on a damp and foggy day like today, is a kiss of gentle restoration… a breath of fresh air, both literally and figuratively.

I will make sure I get some time outside today.

Questions for November 21st

Terra VolatileIn what area do I need to ask for help of those around me?

Ten of Coins and Page of Coins – Getting things done for work, so that we start off the holiday season right and are working towards the best outcome possible. I brought a good deal of work with me to do, and need to remember that I don’t have to do it all myself. L and Z are both here with me after all.

How can I best ask for help?

King of Cups and Five of Wands – Motivate them through their desire to succeed and personal pride in doing things well. Look for those times they need a distraction or some alone time, and provide for those emotional needs by giving them something to do.

By asking for help I allow myself to:

Temperance and Page of Cups – Moderate my own expenditure of time and energy, and stay open emotionally. My tendency with emotional moments is to retreat and close down. Giving some of the work to them means less for me to use as an excuse to retreat and close myself off.

Question: How is she going to handle her time alone out here in the woods over the remainder of the year?

Somnia TarotReading Summary: There are plenty of people in her life to help her and she won’t be shy about getting that help when she needs it (Strength). Having this time alone will allow her time to process her grief in a healthy way and come out on top of it in the end (Ace of Cups).

She will not be shy about using others feelings of condolences to help her in thriving. (King of Cups).

Take Away: I was worried she would sink into her sadness and the loneliness of being out here all alone in the woods. The cards here indicate that she will reach for processing her emotions, as well as help from others when she needs it.

I still plan on calling her daily once we’re back home tho.

Today’s meditation was attempted, although I was a bit too restless to actually pull it off.

Terra Volatile and How to Be a Wildflower DeckToday’s draw is the Eight of Coins, which is traditionally a representation of hard work, honing one’s craft, apprenticeship, development of expertise in a craft, and can indicate repetitive tasks (which are often necessary to develop mentioned expertise).

Today is an orders day, which means I need to put into practice my skills and expertise. The affirmation card is a reminder that these skills are an expertise for a reason.  Because I enjoy what I do, because I love creating things.  This allowed me to make a living out of something I love, and that it’s important to look at the work through this lens instead of letting lack of enthusiasm leech in and steal away the potential for pleasure.

A wall is to block out something or someone that is usually not life changing just annoying or frivolous (Three of Cups), whereas a boundary is there to promote healthy growth (The Universe).

Where have I built walls that need taking down?

The Fool – The walls that are currently blocking out or tamping down on your enthusiasm for life and new things. You need to tap into that enthusiasm, and there are walls in the way that are separating you from that spark you need right now.

How do boundaries benefit me?

Two of Coins – Boundaries benefit you by providing balance in your life and encouraging a more diverse and healthy use of your time. By having good boundaries in place for yourself and others in your life, you are able to make sure that you don’t focus too hard on one thing and end up neglecting other things as a result.

How do my boundaries benefit my relationships with others?

The Chariot – You are not swayed by peer pressure or conformity. Boundaries allow you the control and independence that you need in your life, and thus shape the dynamics of your friendships, relationships, and interactions with others.

Where in my life would most benefit from stronger boundaries?

Queen of Cups – The desire for emotional mothering is something you need to build bigger boundaries concerning. Every time you think that your mother is going to give you that type of emotional support, you are then crushed again when her true nature shows up to spoil those hopes.
