🎨 Weekly Creativity Prompt – Art Interpretation

Prompt: Below is a 3-card spread from Sasuraibito Tarot and a question/prompt to go with it. Your task is to pull the same three cards from your deck(s) and tell us how you might interpret these two (or more) decks differently, and why. Same question, same cards, different decks. And if you’d read them similarly? Tell us that, and explain why!

Today’s cards are Six of Wands, Two of Swords, and Two of Cups. And the question from our imaginary querent is How can I best nurture whatever is sprouting right now?

Sasuraibito Tarot - Six of Wands, Two of Swords, Two of Cups

You are at an impasse (Two of Swords positioned in the center) between people pleasing for your community (Six of Wands), or connecting more closely with someone specifically that matters (Two of Cups).

Although you connect strongly with your community (strong, sturdy staffs) and they provide you with a great deal of growth (leaves and flowers growing from the staffs) and comfort through the diversity you find there (rainbow), you can’t pursue this connection -and- connect more deeply with this single person (linked pinky fingers in the Two of Cups) at the same time (separated by Swords).

To best nurture what is sprouting right now in your life, you need to decide which side of the coin you want to pursue; the community connection, or that closer one-on-one relationship. Both offer you growth, but it’s too much to try and do both at the same time.

Best Deck Ever Tarot - Six of Wands, Two of Swords, Two of Cups

You can work hard to achieve the recognition you crave from others (Six of Wands/Spatulas), or (Two of Hooks/Swords) you can allow yourself to build something meaningful between yourself and someone else (Two of Patties/Cups).

Either of these pursuits is going to snare (hooks instead of Swords) all of your attention, tangling you up in it so that you’re unable to do both. Specifically, on the side of things where you develop a meaningful connection with someone else, there’s a good chance that even if you met them at work, they’re going to be a distraction -from- your work in the end (there’s a spatula hanging in the air between them in the background).

You have a choice. These cards indicate that you can’t have both, after all. You can try to balance both, but in doing so both situations are going to get dicey and you’re giving up your ability to choose which one will be your end result. By directing your attention to the choice you prefer, you give that side of things a better chance of growing into fruition.

: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

The Bizarre Tarot Garden Edition - Judgement card

Today’s draw is the Judgement card, which is traditionally a representation of judgements, one’s inner calling and chosen life path, and looking back on one’s life to consider how they feel about the path they’ve taken and who they have become.

Have you ever been traveling and been in desperate need of rest, but when you go looking for a motel room to get a bit of sleep you’re only able to find motels where you wouldn’t want to rest your head?

Do you keep going? Or do you stop and rest in one of these places, knowing that you’re gonna regret it later?

There’s something to be said for sticking to one’s values instead of doing what’s convenient in the moment. It’s the values that we stick to that determine the type of person we become. Are you the type of person who takes care of the land and picks up trash and makes a place better? Or are you the type of person that tosses a piece of trash out the window thinking “oh, someone also pick it up eventually”?

If you want to become a better person later, you have to start being a better person now. This is how we grow and become better people. It doesn’t just magically happen someday and you look back on life and go, “Oh I was perfect all along”. Life is a journey of growth that we look back on later and say “I made a few mistakes, but I worked on it and now I’m a better person”.

The message in today’s Judgment card and the “motel room” prompt reminds us that it’s why practicing at what we want to be today that we become that tomorrow. If you want to be someone with bedbugs (crap friends, bad morals, uncaring, etc), then sure go ahead and sleep in the bedbug infested motel (don’t try for better).

But, if you want to be someone with integrity and values who is better than the person you are today, you start by practicing those values today so that by the time you get to that future self and look back, you can see that you’ve been working towards being a better person all along and have become that better person as a result.

Tarot Reading with the Sasuraibito Tarot Tiny Traveler Edition and Bee Playing Cards

Where do I respond with clarity rather than reaction?

Garden, King of Pentacles Rx atop Three of Cups, Three of Clubs

It’s your emotions that create that impulsive reaction instead of allowing you time to think and move forward with clarity of thought.

You have a tendency to respond with clarity rather than just reaction during times when you are able to foster a sense of community between yourself and others without allowing your emotions to steer the boat.

How can I bring this clarity into my more emotional moments?

Three of Spades, Six of Swords Rx atop Seven of Cups, Two of Clubs

Reactivity is a choice. When you are feeling disappointed or upset, you have to make the choice to stay and work it out rather than flying off the handle. Sit with your emotional discomfort instead of trying to off-load it immediately just because you don’t like it.

By doing this, you give that emotion time to breathe and calm, and give your mind time to step in and consider what’s going on and how to move forward in a healthier way.

: What do you need to focus on for self-care for this month’s new moon?

Tarot Reading with The Bizarre Tarot Garden Edition

Reading Summary: A moment of stillness is needed for opportunity to show itself (Ace of Pentacles is the only upright card… and it’s a house). No amount of active pursuit (Knight of Wands Rx) or planning (Two of Wands Rx) is going to get you where you want to be (Knight of Cups Rx) during this month’s new moon phase.

Take Away: Sometimes the best thing to do is take a minute… take a breath… and take a look at what’s going on around you while you are standing still. We all have places we want to go and things we want to do, but how can you plot your way forward if you don’t have any idea what’s going on around you or what obstacles might be in your way?

You can’t. This New Moon phase is a time for observation. Don’t get impatient. Foster a sense of curiosity instead while you take a moment to ground yourself and steady your own footing.

Other elements included in this reading:
Staghorn Sumac for Connecting with Nature and the Wild Within
Japanese Cherry Leaf as a Reminder of Life’s Fleeting Moments
Deodar Cedar Cone for Fostering Clarity and Spiritual Connection
Foraged Oak Branch with Moss and Lichen for Perseverance
Garnierite for help in Releasing Anger, Anxiety, and Guilt
Carnelian Agate for Inner Drive and Focusing on Aspirations

Weekly Creativity Prompt – Different Scenarios

Prompt: “The purpose of this activity is to practice interpreting small spreads by combining card meanings, symbols and intuition. We will all interpret the same cards based on a few different (imaginary) situations. A 3 card spread will be posted together with 2 more specific scenarios. It’s your choice which scenario you’d prefer to use, or if you’d rather do a general reading of these cards as for an imaginary querent.

Sasuraibito Tarot

Scenario 1 – A limited edition vinyl of Kelso’s favorite album just came out. However, Kelso knows that their paycheck is going to be smaller than usual. They want to know if it’s a wise idea to buy it right now.

Go ahead and treat yourself (Three of Cups and The Empress), just do so with clarity of mind (Ace of Swords). Accept that money is going to be extremely short in other places if you do this, and be prepared to cut back elsewhere as needed. It’s okay to treat yourself now and then as long as you approach these moments with practicality and don’t overindulge.

Scenario 2 – There’s been some changes in Miles’ life and he’s trying to figure out the best way to tell his dad about them.

Get together and take the time to check in on  your dad first.  Once you’ve had some time together and you know everything is okay, then is the time for some clear and open communication on what you need to tell him.  Don’t just jump in cold… he needs to be warmed up first.

Weekly Creativity Prompt – Different Scenarios

Prompt: “The purpose of this activity is to practice interpreting small spreads by combining card meanings, symbols and intuition. It’s your choice which scenario you’d prefer to use, or if you’d rather do a general reading of these cards as for an imaginary querent.

Sasuraibito Tarot

Scenario 1 – Arnold is having a hard time getting along with his teacher. He’s a little shy and skittish about the experiments they do in class. He wants to know how to just get through the school year.

In order to get past your fear and find enthusiasm in the class, you’re going to have to examine what it is holding you back. Instead of shying away from it, identify the issues and look for a way to mitigate them (Eight of Cups). This class isn’t something you can just “cut and run” from, so in order to let go of what’s holding you back, be open to ways in which the subject matter can spark your curiosity (Page of Cups). With your curiosity stoked you’ll then be able to move forward eagerly and experience progress and eventual success in the class (Three of Wands).

Scenario 2 – Aesop is wondering if anyone will ever find value in his stories and wants to know what direction to take his writing in.

A new one. Shed the excess that isn’t working (Eight of Cups) and go back to the drawing board (Page of Cups). What is it that you are doing that you don’t enjoy about your writing? What makes you drag your feet or feel unsatisfied. These parts of the process are holding you back from the journey you seek with you writing. It may take some adjustments to let go of these things, whether it’s hiring new people or taking on a new genre, but once you decide to take the leap, things will begin moving forward for you once more (Three of Wands).

🌕 Full Moon in Pisces – September 2022

Today is the full moon, and like all new moons and full moons, I did a spread aligned to the moon’s current themes as a part of my recognition of the moon’s cycle and influences upon us. Today’s spread is about the medicine within, and brought to you by Ethony‘s Tarot by the Moon series.

Full Moon in Aquarius Tarot Reading with the Sasuraibito Tarot

What message does my intuition want to deliver?

Six of Swords – You need to take a break and give your body a chance to breathe. More than that, you need to turn over a new leaf in how you treat yourself in order to make allowances for your body’s limitations and pain levels.

How can I connect more closely with my intuitive side?

Eight of Swords – Stop blocking. You are holding yourself back by turning away from and ignoring much of what your intuition picks up on. Instead of tapping in, you hold it at a distance.

What emotions need healing?

Four of Cups – Your resentment of needing to take the time to do your meditation is holding you back from actually doing your meditation. Let go of the resentment, and let yourself have what you need instead.

How can I let go?

The Moon – Face your fears and uncertainties instead of ignoring them. When you ignore them, they don’t go away.  They just linger back there and wait for you to look over your shoulder.

What self-care do I need to focus on?

Page of Swords – Make sure you are focusing on staying organized. You always feel better and more clear headed with the more organized that you are.

Full Moon advice from the Minoan Goddess Amalthea.

Ace of Pentacles atop Six of Wands – Pay less energy into what others think and want from you. There are new opportunities coming, but if you are too focused on people pleasing, those opportunities will pass you by.

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Self Care Saturday Reading with the Sasuraibito Tarot and Customized Sands Regency Casino Cards

EarthKing of Pentacles – Feel your supremacy through the stability that grows beneath your feet. You are strong, capable, and accomplished. Make sure you are giving yourself credit for these things.

AirTwo of Swords Rx – No important decisions need to be made this week. If any come up, set them aside until next week. Now is not the time.

WaterSeven of Pentacles – Be patient with yourself. It’s a long journey and you’re just at the beginning of learning about your emotions.

Don’t let frustration at how things are going, or the speed at which they move, to cause you distress. Trying to push yourself, others, or the projects you are working on won’t make things go any faster this week. Instead it will just create frustration.

FireSix of Cups – This week would be a good time to pick up a project that you set down for one reason or another in the past, but were enjoying while you were doing it. Take some time to return to this project and give it another look.

WaningTwo of Diamonds and Four of Spades – Again we see a notation that you should move away from decision-making this week. Don’t stew over it or waffle over it, and don’t let it linger in your mind. Instead, it’s important to set decisions on the back burner and leave them alone until next week.

WaxingThree of Clubs and King of Clubs (Clouds) – Let direction and momentum overcome moments of uncertainty this week.

Take Away – Keep moving this week and (clearly) don’t make any important decisions right now.  Whatever decisions need made can wait until next week.  Putting them off won’t hurt anything, but feeling rushed or pressured into dealing with them immediately definitely will. Explore something left behind and cut yourself a little slack so you can truly enjoy it.
