that bleed to green
as tiny flowers
stick out
their tongues
to show
admiration
and irreverence
can coexist
as one

to forest floor
as pine needles
and twigs
poke at the skin
and springy moss
pillows the head
and leaves long
fallen and forgotten
find purchase
in tangled strands
to hitch a ride
all the way home

on silken petals

glimmer
as petals flutter
and open wide
to welcome
raindrop’s kisses
and as sun sinks
and moon rises
the flowers
