Gideon’s Challenge – Curiosity

Seashore Detritus

Curiosity

Where the
sea and land
meet
is a space
filled with
liminal energies
and possibility
where
each creature
and every
bit of detritus
tells a story
of adaptation
and connection

Gideon’s Challenge – Reassurances

Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima)

Reassurances

Potential beauty
sits still and quiet
beneath the shine
of what already
is kissed
by the sun
and yet
there’s more
still to come
as the
first blooms
begin to fade
and new ones
take their place

Gideon’s Challenge – Gratitude

Rain Clouds rolling in

Gratitude

People complain
about rainy days
as May
is left behind
and June begins
yet all I feel
is gratitude
for every
raindrop
that falls
from the sky
and the clouds
that keep temps
comfortable

Gideon’s Challenge – Sharp Edges

New Growth

Sharp Edges

Don’t
touch me
as adjustment
and acclimation
make me
vulnerable
and sensitive
and emotions
cause me
to draw
blood
without
apologies
or regrets

Gideon’s Challenge – Overwhelmed

Vancouver BC City View

Overwhelmed

Too many
people
and too much
movement
blend
into a cacaphony
of energy
swirling in a
wild spiral
of constant
ebb and flow
until losing
the self
is easy
among so many

Gideon’s Challenge – Needy

Ivy - New Growth

Needy

I need you
to keep reaching
and clinging
tight
to each moment
between us
as the chaos
of the world
tries
to force
my retreat
and tear us
apart
keep loving me
through it all
and
don’t let go
