Wonderment
giants paint the sky
in delicate strokes
with mystical brushes
stretching
spilled paint
of apricot hues
over a canvas of blue
until the world
dips
into darkness
as twilight approaches

Gideon’s Challenge – Small Joys
Small Joys
in the cloying
foggy wet
of an
evergreen forest
walk with me
among the trees
and lets play tourist
for with your hand
in mine
our shoes will
trod the path
and as water drops
drip from our hair
we’ll discover
hidden secrets
and laugh

Gideon’s Challenge – Pleased
Pleased
a little bit of work
a bit of spooky fun
a brief moment
of satisfaction
at a job well done
fleeting but there
the pleasure
in the moment
I just really want
it to linger
a bit longer tonight

Gideon’s Challenge – Peaceful
Peaceful
a comfortable seat
and a bottle of water
are all I need
to sit here quietly
all day long
and watch
the clouds
as they transform
again and again
as they float by
on to see
new places

Gideon’s Challenge – The Gray
The Gray
I ache to feel
the spark
of desire
the tingle
of interest as
curiosity
catches fire
and yet
from within
there’s only
quiet
and a stillness
of exhausting
silence

Gideon’s Challenge – Longing
Longing
clouds leave
light kisses
upon the land
like your lips
upon my scars
worshipful
and loving
feather light
and filled with
breathless
moments
of anticipation
