pulled in many directions

and I have to resist
that sweet buzz
that I miss
and puppy dog eyes
that beg
for a purchase

Today I don’t have
sweet words
or poetry of emotion
but instead,
just a song…
The Whisper
Your lips on mine
a breath of fresh air
sifting through clouds
to whisk away
teary moments
and struggle
against vulnerability
so that everything
settles just so
and feels right
for a time
as you whisper
against my lips

The Struggle
I can’t see
deeply enough
to that
vulnerable part
that is aching
and vulnerable
but can only catch
at the edges
of the wound
like snagging
a ragged fingernail
on blankets
when turning over
in bed

Tears fall
as soul aches
salty drops
saturating
temples and pillow
alike
and every time
it begins to abate
touching
that raw spot
within
in an effort
to understand
only makes it
begin yet again
