yields
to summer sun
like delicate
purple flowers
that fall
fragrant
to the ground
while yellow buds
open
to greet the day

First harvests

but healthy

filled
with cleansing goodness
A gift
bestowed
upon the caretaker
that tends
to her needs
from one season
to the next

A dragon
lives in my soul
with cinders
for scales
and flames
that scorch
the senses
like begonia petals
in summer heat
as I wait

Tree Spirit

Little tree spirit
in the herb garden
peeking out between
healthy green leaves
sweet smiling face
there to greet
whenever the herbs
have needs
and at harvest time
they watch closely
as sprigs are snipped
with care
and stands in solidarity
as new leaves unfurl
to greet the air

Fuzzy Baby

Sleepy soft
and lazy sweet
with a dreamy gaze
an invitation to sleep
come and cuddle
downy soft fur
just don’t tickle
or sharp teeth
come out
“come to bed”
