A little rain
just a bit
not enough
just a kiss
I need more
it didn’t keep
through the hours
of summer heat
come back please
and rain s’more
I want muddy trails
and soggy moss
please… more

Taking the Day

Wouldn’t it be nice
to have a day
with no obligations
and
no responsibilities
where the only thing
to worry about
is napping too long
as you float along
at ease and relaxing
upon the seas
of sweet surrender
before paddling
back to shore

Cranky
Grumpy
Piece of work
Silent as
the inner words
wash through
the mind
and pick apart
all the good
speared through
the heart
not a day
for laughs and fun
lets just avoid
everyone

Head Trauma

A memory
full of holes
like wood
eaten through
by termites
time lost
worn away
as water
wears away
at the edges
of each hole
until memories
become lost
disjointed
and broken

Redefining Hell

This season
has redefined
the feelings for me
on summer
being a slow crawl
through hell
as a third heat wave
creeps in
to place us all
under the weight
of another
round of sun
heat
and no rain in sight

The Needed Pause

Overwhelmed
I slip
painful ankle
and swollen feet
into icy waters
as rocks dig in
against tender soles
one step
turns into another
and denim tugs
heavy on hips
as hems soak up
salt water

And I want to go
deeper
