It’s Going To Be Okay

Today’s meditation was yet again non-existent.  I kinda sorta might have fallen asleep instead. Not on purpose, mind you, but apparently I was more in need of sleep than I was of meditation because I managed to fall asleep in my pirifomris stretch. As you might imagine, it was not easy to get out of after having slept in that position for about an hour.

Ten of Zephyrs - Ten of Swords - Stolen Child TarotToday’s draw is the Ten of Zephyrs (Ten of Swords) which is traditionally interpreted as coming to the end of a rough and arduous journey and can often indicate that that ending is fraught with experiences of pain, loss, or betrayal.

With the imagery on today’s card, what I see here is definitely the end of a road, but I also see a message of safety and care.   The resting child and the vulture that looks over it, a bird of pray and a scavenger… and yet also a watchful protector.

What I see here is a message of reassurance, and after the triggering event last night… a message that I needed to hear.   That message says that I am looked over and protected, even when I am at weakest and most vulnerable.

Question
: How can I embrace that power? (built off yesterday’s cards)

The Good Tarot

Intuitive Interpretation: Remain open and receptive to love and nurturing.

Take Away:  The power that was referenced yesterday had to do with the touch of guidance from my spirit guides within my choices and my moral compass.  Today’s cards indicate that in order to embrace that touch within my life I need to stop ignoring their presence and pushing away the possibility of them being a hand in things, and open myself up to being more receptive to their presence, guidance, and love.

Question
: Where do I need to direct more gratitude?

Fantastical Creatures TarotReading Summary:  Instead of spending so much time trying to spread myself thin pushing forward (Seven of Cups) I need to look within and find the fortitude (Strength) that will allow me to accept that things are good (Nine of Pentacles) and enjoy that things are good. (Ten of Pentacles).

Take Away:  I spend a lot of time planning for the future and freaking out about if I’m doing enough and how I can do more.  The cards here speak of the need to let up on those habits and appreciate the here and now.  Yes, there’s a lot going on now to worry about, but the truth is that we are okay.  We have the ability to get food and medications that are needed.  We aren’t on the street or struggling with homelessness.   We are very, very fortunate in all that we have and I need to set aside that diligence and hyper-vigilance a bit to allow myself time to appreciate that.

Question
: What motivates me?

Lili White Tarot

Reading Summary:  The need for spirituality and balance in my life (Temperance), my moral compass (Judgement), and my need for stability and security (King of Pentacles).

Take Away:  One of the core tenants and foundations of my faith is balance.  It is one of the energies that I revere, even in my daily devotional and, even beyond spirituality… or perhaps it is because it is such an integral part of it, balance is an important part of how I view life and the world as a whole.

My moral compass rules my life.   Sometimes I slip, just like everyone does.  But it is finding balance and holding strong to my moral compass that allow me to move forward with certainty.

The last card is a representation of my need for stability and security.  This need is rooted in fear, yes… but it is also rooted in my connection with the earth.  The core need within me to be grounded is an overpowering drive, and absolute need for me, and that need is not about fear but about what feels right to me and how I connect to the world around me.  Without that grounding force…. there is no sure footing beneath my feet to walk upon my path.

Question: How can I be more forgiving?

New Liminal Tarot

Reading Summary: Make the choice (Two of Swords) to accept that sometimes shit just falls apart (Ten of Swords) and make a conscious decision to rise above those moments and focus on recovery efforts (Queen of Discs).

Take Away:  This speaks of stepping away from thoughts of blame and instead stepping forward to offer support.   In doing this, you allow yourself to see things from the other person’s perspective rather than just your own, which fosters the ability to forgive more easily those that trespass upon us.

Accepting Help

IMG_3695Today’s meditation was just under twelve minutes long and focused upon a full body scan where the guide took the attention through each muscle of the body instead of each part of the body.

I’m a big fan of this sort of meditation, and I like the specificity of doing the body scan from muscle to muscle rather than body part to body part, but I feel that if we are going to do it muscle by muscle, it needs to be a longer meditation.

I don’t feel I get enough time focusing on moving my breath through each muscle when they try to cram the whole body into a twelve minute session.   This could easily be stretched into a good thirty or forty minutes and I probably would have still enjoyed it immensely.

Five of Pentacles - Stolen Child TarotToday’s draw is the Five of Oak (Five of Pentacles) which is a representation of tests, trials, and struggles in the area of finance, health, resources, and the hearth and home.  This often translates into themes concerning scarcity issues, financial losses and/or poverty, as well as all of the worries and sense of isolation that can accompany these themes.

What really stands out to me today in this card is the mice and the honeycomb.  Although the badger child hoards his honeycomb, there is enough to go around for all to partake.  Sometimes when you’re in need, it’s hard to look up from your struggles to see where a helping hand may lie.  These rats have chosen to look up and although the badger child wishes to keep all that goodness to themselves, they share regardless.

The message here is that reluctant charity is still charity, and we all need a bit of charity now and then.  Don’t ignore what’s being offered just because it’s coming from someone or somewhere you’d usually reject out of principle.  This message fits in very well with some issues that happened today concerning my building and the need to take a run to the hardware store for supplies with… what is arguably one of the most difficult residents in our building.

Question
: Current state of my relationship with my community.

Shadowland Tarot

Reading Summary:   Feeling a bit overwhelmed (Ten of Wands) but still standing strong (King of Wands) while I worry about transitions and changes (Six of Swords).

Take Away:  I think that everyone is worried about the current changes going on in society and where we are going from here. At the moment, like so many others, I am a bit overwhelmed by these worries and hit’s causing a bit of a struggle concerning action related to my passions and drive as I work to support others through this difficult time.

Question
: What is my greatest source of emotional strength?

New Liminal TarotReading Summary: When I’m feeling chaotic and defensive (Seven of Wands), taking some time to rest and reevaluate (Four of Swords) allows me to find balance once more (King of Swords).

Take Away:  These cards indicate that my emotional strength at this time lies in my ability to keep myself from picking at negative thoughts and being unkind to myself. A lot of times when I sense my own vulnerability, I will react by attacking, but the cards indicate that for true emotional strength, I need to see these moments as a time to reassess and find balance rather than allowing myself to fall into bad habits.

Question
: Am I confident in naming my boundaries?

Pastel Waite Smith Tarot

Reading Summary:  Absolutely (Strength).  Especially boundaries having to deal with emotional connections with others (King of Cups) and boundaries that deal with the  stability and security of hearth and home (King of Pentacles).

Take Away: My responsibilities are an extremely important part of my life and so it’s not surprising that it would come up that naming and standing by boundaries concerning my responsibilities to stability and security came up as somewhere I have a good deal of strength.  With my heart and soul very much belonging to you, it is also no surprise that I have absolutely no issue with setting boundaries where my emotions are concerned.

What is not included here is also interesting, as there is a lack of Swords and Wands, indicating that I have difficulty in enforcing mental boundaries and boundaries that have to do with my drive and ambitions.  This is also very fitting as it is where I am less apt to set boundaries for myself especially, but others as well.

Question: How can I deepen my spiritual practice?

New Liminal Tarot

Reading Summary: If I want to move forward into a new connection (Ten of Swords), I need to take my time because trying to move too fast (Eight of Wands) is creating issues (Seven of Wands).

Take Away:  I recently had another reading with a similar question that indicated much the same thing as this.  I’m creating my own road blocks by overloading myself in different ways due to a feeling of uncertainty about how to move forward.  If I want to deepen my spiritual practice and that connection with my spirit guides, I’m going to need to let go of that trepidation and the subconscious methods of aversion that it’s creating.

Motivations and Methods

IMG_3558Today’s meditation was just over ten minutes long and was along the same theme as yesterday’s meditation, which is to say that it focused upon finding calm in the storm.

As yesterday’s focused upon where to look within yourself to find a center, this one focused upon how to reject the mental chaos of events and situations that create the opportunity for that chaos to invade and conquer.

The meditation spoke about the importance of regular meditation practice in order to prepare the mind for when these situations arise, so that we are more able to use the tools that meditation helps you develop to stay calm and centered when that is most needed.

Four of Brine - Four of Cups - Stolen Child TarotToday’s draw is the Four of Brine (Four of Cups) which is traditionally a representation of stability and/or stagnancy in the area of one’s emotions and relationships.  This often translates into themes involving taking time to reassess one’s emotions and/or ignoring outside influences and turning inward towards those emotions.

My interpretation of this card touches upon that theme but is a bit different as well, which is probably not much of a surprise.  What I see in the imagery of this card today is the python changeling accepting the gift of the persimmons from the monkeys in the trees… rather than preying on the monkeys themselves.

This speaks to me of reassessing one’s motives and motivations, and factoring in one’s emotions into that process of reflection. It speaks about finding a better way, and possibly letting others in to allow them to help you in finding that better way of doing things.  The cards indicate I will benefit from allowing others input to assist me in finding a “better way” today.

Question
: What part of that is within my power to change at this time? (built off yesterday’s cards)

Forager's Daughter Tarot

Reading Summary: I need to actually get a plan in place (Ace of Pentacles), even if it’s not actionable until later on.  In this way I can take control of the situation when the opportunity is presented to me (Queen of Wands) and reap the benefits of being ready (Four of Pentacles).

Take Away:  Well there you go. Like with my business, this stagnancy with my physical body is another area where I will benefit from having a plan set in place before restrictions lift. By preparing and having a plan in place, I can then hit the ground running with solid footing when the opportunity is presented, and reap the rewards of that preparedness.

Question
: How can I obtain better clarity in order to move past those obstacles? (built off yesterday’s cards)

Fairy Lights TarotReading Summary:  Don’t allow bad habits and pessimism (left card) to overtake my sense of hope and wonder (middle card… note the bleed of color from the left card).  This too shall pass (right card… match of birds to the shades of color from the left card and bleed into the middle).

Take Away:  Pessimism is the biggest and most persistent of all my bad habits.  I say that it is a bad habit not because pessimism can’t be healthy, but because it can so easily fall into being unhealthy in my case.   The cards indicate that I need to take time and care in fostering my sense of hope and optimism so that my natural inclination towards pessimism doesn’t take over and pollute everything.

The last card is a reassurance that I often use for myself when going through a depression episode, which is to remind myself that nothing lasts forever.  The things I am struggling with now won’t last forever either.  It is a reminder to look for the light at the end of the tunnel and hold onto that hope and optimism, because even the dark times pass so it’s important to not allow them to drag you down any longer than necessary.

Question
: What do I want right now?

New Liminal Tarot

Reading Summary: A blend of new perspectives and new ideas combined together in a balanced, calm, and hopeful way (Temperance).

Take Away:  There is a hint in the flow in how these cards communicate with each other in reference to the colors.  Each of the two left cards is separate from the other, but elements of color from each blend into the Temperance card on the right. This speaks to me about developing both separately (taking in new perspectives, and the development of new ideas)… and then combining them together in a balanced manner.

Question: What is my spiritual gift?

IMG_3568

Intuitive Interpretation and Notes:

The flow of color in these cards indicates a fierceness and passion in the defense of others that comes from the heart.

The transition to water from left to right (choppy seas to calm waters to frozen crystals upon the pond at the figure’s feet) speaks of a need for balance and calm in all things, even in times of conflict.

Charging into the fray and chaos (the two left cards speak of chaos in the first and fearless confrontation through the knight on the lion in the right) with a calm heart and mind (the center card is filled with warmth but also with a good deal of tranquility is translated through calm waters and the presence of the white stag) in order to foster and protect others (the right card portrays a figure protecting a more helpless figure in the cradle of their arms with cool waters, calming colors, and ice crystals portraying a sense of balanced calm).

Take Away:  The spiritual gift that the cards are referring to here is my need to champion helpless and those that are treated unfairly.  I have a very strong need for balance in my life and an extremely demanding moral compass that requires fair treatment for all and a certain level of respect for all.

When my moral compass triggers due to witnessing the lack of fair treatment of those unable to defend themselves, I have a need to stand up and add my voice to bolster and protect them, and have no issue with stepping forward into the spotlight (or chaos) at those times to right that perceived imbalance.
