I Balance Dominance and Submission

#DailyCalm with the Calm appToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and a #DailyCalm session with the Calm app.

The topic of today’s meditation was about how so many of us value our work, but not our need for rest.  Both are equally important, but it’s the work that we normally stress in our lives and prioritize.

The session was a reminder that rest is just as important, and that they go hand in hand.  One without the other is unhealthy, no matter which way you swing it.  It encourages balance, and a mindset of compassion and forgiveness instead of judgement for those times when rest is needed.

Affirmation Prompt for April 15th
: I Balance…

Lunalapin Tarot - Five of SwordsFive of Swords – I balance dominance and submission.

In your relationship, as well as in your life, there is a dance that happens. A dance between dominance and submission. There are times when you feel a sense of strength and purpose, when you step into a challenge with empowerment and confidence.

And there are times in life and in your relationship where you feel small and vulnerable, in need of sheltering and care, and unable to deal with the challenges that lie before you.

Life is a balancing of these two aspects, where one is no greater or of more value than the other. It is the natural ebb and flow of your confidence and strength, and allows you to experience  more in life as a result.  Remember not to try to put too much weight on one over the other, and let them come and go as needed.

Question for April 15th
: What message of reassurance do I need to hear right now?

Lunalapin Tarot - Five of Pentacles, Nine of Cups, The HierophantReading Summary: Feelings of scarcity (Five of Pentacles) can drag you down and create difficulties in staying afloat emotionally (Nine of Cups Rx). But, by leaning into tried and true methods you have already established (The Hierophant) for dealing with these issues, you can help in pulling yourself back up.

Take Away: Feeling like a failure sucks.  It just does.

The thing is, though, you have established tools to help you with your emotional lows, and they will work to help you with feelings of scarcity as well if you use them in that direction.

These tools that help you in staying emotionally stable are there for you not just when you’re struggling with depression, but in any instance where a more positive outlook and a bit of a lift are needed.

Daily Self Kindness

This is a catch-up post, and I don’t remember what my self-kindness was for the day.

Weekly Creativity Prompt – The Hanged Man

Prompt: “Pull the Fool card from your deck(s). Compare the imagery between the card provided below and the card(s) from your own deck(s). How would you read them differently and why?

Modern Love Tarot - The Hanged ManModern Love Tarot – I lie with my head at the foot of my bed when I am meditating, and also during any type of daytime nap.  It allows me to open my eyes and immediately orient myself to the fact that it’s daytime and not morning.  This is what this card reminds me of, as it speaks of different perspectives providing you with different feedback.  Feedback that allows you to orient and prepare yourself.  The Hanged Man in this deck is about allowing yourself to step aside to consider new perspectives, but is also about how those new perspectives influence your day to day and your reactions to the world around you.  It asks… how can changing your perspective help you in navigating your world a little easier?

Lunalapin Tarot, Britt's Third Eye Tarot, Sasuraibito Tarot

Lunalapin Tarot – The imagery in this card is classic, regardless of the fact it’s a bunny hanging from the tree instead of a man. With the sun behind him, the bunny hangs inverted and sees the world from another perspective where everything is reversed. His wide stretched whiskers indicate that the rabbit looks out on this new view with interest, taking in everything he can see.  The imagery in this card is about gathering information and taking the time to really look at a situation from all angles instead of from our own personal perspective alone.

Britt’s Third Eye Tarot – The splayed fingers and cupped palm of the hand featured in the imagery of this card speaks of the stress and strain of dangling by that appendage. The owner of the hand isn’t hanging peacefully, but caught in the rope’s grip and held tight, forced to stillness instead of it being a choice. In this card, we see the the Hanged Man’s pause as something to be caught in instead of as a choice. The pause is a necessity… possibly one forced upon us.  Here we are encouraged to see this pause for what it is… opportunity, even if also perhaps an unwelcome inconvenience.

Sasuraibito Tarot – Here in this Hanged Man, we see the consequence of lingering too long in our pursuit of perspectives beyond our own.  Although seeing things from different perspectives is a good thing, if you spend too long doing so, you miss the opportunity to use these perspectives in any useful way… just as the man in this card has hung so long from the tree that he has begun to waste away while the world weeps for his lost opportunities.  Don’t pause for so long that it becomes a detriment to you and your goals.

Temptation’s Consequences

Today’s meditation was spent at the bottom of the bathtub with the shower running (at around 5:30am). I spent some time there after a marathon of spewing from both ends to let my body warm and ease my nerves, as well as wash away the sweats.

Lunalapin Tarot - The DevilToday’s draw is The Devil card, which is traditionally a representation of temptation, addictions, and self inflicted hardships.

You were really sick last night, you need to make sure that you treat your body well today instead of eating junk or being impatient with your body and its needs. There’s always a chance that the nausea and vomiting could come back, and you need to make sure that you do what you can to mitigate those risks instead of just eating whatever you want.

The message in today’s card is to be conscious of what temptations pull at you today, for they have potential to be disastrous.

Mr Lionharts’ #TheAprilTarot Animal Guide Challenge Prompt
Questions for Beyond The Journey – Day 28 to 30

Cat Wisdom CardsWhere do I find myself right now at the conclusion of this month’s Journey?

Patience – You find yourself now at a place of self-awareness that will allow for more patience with yourself moving forward. You know where you are pushing too hard, and where you need to treat yourself more kindly, and can practice the patience to keep that balance.

What am I asked to leave behind moving forward? Why?

Alarm and Take Action – Alarm without action creates anxiety. But, when you seize control and begin to do something about it instead of staying stagnant and letting it wash over you, you are able to turn alarm into healthy results. Keep this in mind and it will help you in leaving behind the anxiety that’s been niggling at you over the past few months.

In what direction am I asked to take these teachings as I move on past April?

Fear – Use this month’s lessons to conquer your fears instead of giving into them.

Question for April 29th
: What do you need to focus on for self-care for tomorrow’s new moon?

Lunalapin TarotReading Summary: Down times (Ten of Swords) don’t mean that you lose sight of your goals (King of Wands), just that you save the battle for tomorrow (Seven of Wands).

Take Away: As violently sick as I’ve been so far today, what I need tomorrow is some down time and recovery.

I’m sure just as much as I feel like crap today, my stomach and throat will feel raw tomorrow and my muscles are going to hurt as if I’d gone through a triathlon or something.

No work. No pushing. Just rest and recuperation.
