🎨 Weekly Creativity Prompt – Envy in the Parking Stalls

Prompt: “Pull (at least) three cards from your deck and use them to write about the daydream of a vehicle of your choice. (ex: a train or plane, yours or your neighbor’s car, a city bus, etc.)

Golden Age of Romance Comics Tarot - The Sun, The Star, The Emperor, Two of Cups, Three of Wands, Six of Pentacles, Ace of Wands

Look at her over there tucked in her stall, all beautiful and eager and ready to go at a moment’s notice (Ace of Wands). She’s so clean and cared for, shiny and bright (The Star). I’d purr like a kitten too (The Sun) if I had an owner like hers (The Emperor). He really knows how to pamper her, going out of his way to provide for her needs (Six of Coins). We’d see the world together if he were mine (Three of Wands and Two of Cups).

Positive Mistakes

#DailyCalm with the Calm app - Rupi Kaur quoteToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and one of the #DailyCalm sessions from the Calm app.  The topic of today’s session was about how we look at love.  Some people see love as something that they cannot live without. That the “true love” factor is an eternal hunt for your “missing piece” which means you will never be complete without it.   It proposes that a better way to look at love is to love oneself and see oneself as whole and complete on one’s own… and seek someone that then amplifies your good qualities as you amplify theirs.

I liked this, and not just because it uses Shel Silverstein’s “The Missing Piece” story as its basis (although, that was a bonus). In the profession of reading cards, you run into a lot of people who see themselves as forever incomplete if they don’t find their “perfect match”. Some who get into unhealthy or abusive relationships because they insist they found their “missing piece” in someone that is abusive or toxic… thus stay in those relationships.

I like the idea of people being whole on their own. Developing themselves as a unique individual who is then complimented by another whole and unique individual.  It feels far healthier to me than the alternative.

Golden Age of Romance Comics Tarot's Eight of Wands and It’s Going To Be Okay 2024 Day-to-day Calendar By Kate AllanToday’s draw is the Eight of Wands combined with the affirmation “Mistakes are fine. They don’t make you a bad person.”

Sometimes, when we make a mistake, we hurry to judge ourselves harshly.  We even overlook whatever positives we might gain from having messed up in the first place.  What lessons did we learn? Where is this mistake taking us that could be a good thing in the end?

The cards today are about these moments, and remembering to slow down and consider if those mistakes we make along the way (both big and small) are really as bad as we think they are… or if something good came out of them in the end. The message today is a reminder not to judge yourself so harshly for these mistakes, but find the boon in them and run with it.

Don’t Waste It

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Enchanted Love Tarot - Princess of Roses - Page of WandsToday’s draw is the Prince of Roses (Knight of Wands), which is traditionally a representation of a projective beta energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s passions, drive, willpower, and determination. This often translates into themes that have to do with going after one’s passions with a “all systems go” mentality, and diving headlong into those things that kindle one’s “inner spark”.

The Knight of Wands is often considered a mover and a shaker. There is so much energy bounding forward, eager and ready to dive into any passion set before them.

Showing up today, this card is a reminder that you have this energy within you as well.  It’s short lived, though, just like the rose in the figure’s hand on the card.  Once set loose to fly, it will only last so long.  Make sure you don’t waste a single moment of it, so that when the time comes to recharge?  You’re happy with the progress you’ve made.

Question for February 23rd
: Where in life is curiosity seeking your attention?

Golden Age of Romance Comics TarotReading Summary: Explore themes stability (King of Pentacles) and new ways of obtaining that security that you desire (Knight of Cups), but remember that if you move too slow and wait too long (Page of Pentacles), it might end up less fun than you thought and more responsibility than you’re ready for (The Emperor).

Take Away: Strike while the iron is hot.  Those things you want most like stability and security are within your reach if you’re ready to actively explore the opportunities that are arising.

Just make sure if you move too slowly you might miss out on the fun parts and be stuck with just another responsibility that needs tending to. Don’t let that happen.

Questions for February 23rd and 24th

Enchanted Love Tarot and Anatomy of a Witch OracleWhat dreams should I follow that I have not taken action on?

The Hermit and Serpent – You crave alone time, and yet you know that at the time being it is not healthy for you and can be dangerous instead of healing. Especially if you’re not careful with how you spend it and where. This doesn’t mean that you need to set the idea of alone time aside, but that you need to take care in how you indulge in it.

What bigger goal should I still aim to achieve moving forward?

Align and Ace of Gems – It can be hard to take advantage of new opportunities that come your way when you constantly feel like your plate is already full. You need to continue working towards finding a balance between responsibility and allowing others to help, so that you can provide yourself space for those opportunities when they arise.

Wiped Away and Forgotten

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Golden Age of Romance Comics Tarot - Death cardToday’s draw is the Death card, which is traditionally a representation of organic change. This is different to sudden and chaotic change like what is represented in the Tower, and is instead about change that develops over time and may, or may not, come to a tipping point at some time along the way. It isn’t sudden, but a development where something ends so that something new can begin.

Here in this imagery we see a grieving woman at her man’s grave while a figure stands in the distance.  The grave marker is for “Captain Alder” and we see a figure in the background in military garb.  It makes me think of the echoes of the past that linger in our periphery even when it’s necessary to move on.

Today’s card is a reminder that the death of something in your life isn’t necessarily going to erase all of the lingering traces of it from your life.  There will always be remnants and echoes going forward that remind us of that time and linger in our minds.  That’s okay.  Not everything has to be wiped away and forgotten.

Adventures Away From Home

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Golden Age of Romance Comics TarotToday’s draw is the Sun card, which is traditionally a representation of happiness and joy, success, fun, and taking pleasure in the little things. In the tarot, the Sun card is the awakening to light’s reassurance after the confusion and uncertainty found in the Moon card.

The imagery in today’s card reminds me of the exercise that I did after the holiday rush this year. Not the whole romanticism in the card’s imagery, but the fact that these two have stepped -away- from the world of responsibility and normal life to do something fun and different, without those influences to push guilt upon them.

The card pulled today is a reminder that it’s okay to cut loose and have a little fun sometimes… and there are times when it’s especially important to do so -away- from your day-to-day environment.

@the_mystic_star February Tarot Challenge Prompt
Questions for February 8th thru 11th

Price of Love OracleWhat card symbolizes the love I have for myself?

Know Your Worth – It is through knowing your own worth that you find the value and confidence needed to love yourself.  You have been taught you must earn love, and even in yourself there are many times when this pattern continues.

How can I increase the love I have for myself?

Detachment – Disconnect with past lessons that have devalued you in the past.  You’re seeking new ways forward and in order to invite them into your life, you have to let go of the past mistreatment.

How can I improve my relationship with myself?

Sparks – Give yourself the chance to have a bit more fun, and to do things that make you smile and spark a feeling of excitement for you. You spend far too much time serious.

How can I reduce the barriers to loving myself?

Follow Your Heart – Instead of putting up roadblocks to your happiness and the love that you can connect with in others, allow yourself to open up.  It’s okay to be vulnerable.

Advice on this topic from Amalthea.

Grief & Sadness – Take this advice to heart, even when you’re not feeling at your best.

Work It Out

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Golden Age of Romance Comics TarotToday’s draw is the Eight of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of ignoring the obvious, having a victim mentality, feeling trapped, and encountering self-imposed restrictions.

So… instead of being a pussy about my arm hurting, this card is very much about doing something about it.  I did this to myself, and I know how to fix it.

I’ve been feeling very clouded in the head though, and kind of stewing in the pain instead of reasoning out the exact details of the injury and beginning to treat it.

Today’s card is a reminder that I’m not going to start healing until I take a good look at the damage and reason out a treatment plan.  Only then will I be able to start to act and work on making things better.

#DiscordTarotholicsFeb2022 Challenge Prompt
Philosophical Question for February 9th
: Why do I fear failure when I know I can learn from my mistakes?

Golden Age of Romance Comics TarotReading Summary: When I experience failure, I end up even more determined and thus end up pushing myself even harder to succeed (Five of Swords). As I turn toward trying again, this reaction moves me in the opposite direction of happiness (The Sun) and towards overwhelm and burnout instead (Ten of Wands).

Take Away: It is not failure that I fear, or even disappointment. It is that perfectionist within me that wants to take that failure and turn it into success.  It’s the part of me that says “this didn’t work, which means next time I can do better”.   Instead of letting go, a need rises up in me to try again.  This is why I fear failure, because then I try to fit trying again in with everything else on my plate instead of setting it aside for later… or setting it aside for good.
